Yay, Allie! I saw somebody else post about that game on the CB.

Mmmmm, deviled eggs! And they taste even better when somebody else makes them

Did everyone get enjoy their extra hour's worth of sleep? I sure did :)

My daughter and her friend who was helping her to move her stuff called late last night to get some help from DH with a brake problem. Sounds like Mari's friend "rode" the brake too much in the mountains instead of shifting to a lower gear and that caused a problem. I think he was able to get it fixed following Don's directions, but it was going to take them until 3:00 am to get back to her place  I wanted to call a bit ago to see how things went but don't want to wake her up if she's napping. Hope she calls us later with an update.

Marita - I feel for you on the night owl DD! I think my daughter's new job starts tomorrow, so she'll have to lay off the super late nights soon.

Mony - Are you taking Airborne or EmergenC? I think those extra vitamins really help me to get over a cold quicker

Moo, I sure enjoyed the extra hour too. But I hate losing it tomorrow when I have to get up earlier. Luckily, I am a 10:30 dentist appt. (cleaning and xrays) 20 minutes away, so that should buy me some extra time.

Yikes on the brake troubles, that is very scary. Many years ago my brakes went out on my car, luckily I wasn't going very fast, but that sure was scary:scared1:

DD made it home safely last night, I don;t know when. But she was up at 11:30. Now she's out at a college football game.

I toadily agree on other people making food being better. I vote for Pumba overnight shipping deviled eggs to everyone on here :thumbsup2
Speaking of other people's food, we just got invited to DH's nephews house for Thanksgiving. They live in a beautiful McMansion, and he is married to a lovely woman named Maria from Spain, whom I like very much. She and I have something in common, both being from Europe and having married a soldier). And she makes great food.
The funniest thing is that my FIL, who is in his 80's and has always adored anything latin related, absolutely LOVES whatever she does or makes.
Maria (note Maria, Not Marita) made this??? It's the best thing he ever tasted! It is a big family joke now. And Maria will get very angry when anyone calls her Hispanic, she says she is European, NOT Hispanic. Not sure what the difference is, but I ignore it. :rolleyes1 NOanyhispanicshere

I better go head to the shower now before DH goes to bed....

Sandy, Lexi, where are you????????

Marita - If you get up tomorrow at 7:00 am, your body will feel like it's 8:00 am. That's the beauty of the fall time change as opposed to the more difficult (in my opinion) time change in the spring.

The tricky part is falling asleep "on time" the first few nights. And not being bummed out when it get dark so early at night.

But then, your body clock is probably still messed up from jet lag.

I will? I get confused every year. My feeble little mind can't grasp the concept. It's a wonder I still have a job!

Falling asleep on time is an issue for me anytime of the year, but certainly more so now.

lets get Marita's menu ready for Christmas party .....

Pumba, I am making turkey, buying a honey baked spiral cut ham, making mashed potatoes and gravy (in glass , TYVM). My moms peas and carrots, San Francisco chicken rice. And some people will bring stuff im sure. It;s always the appetizers that get me. Chips and dip, anyone?? I have survived this dinner for 25 years, I'm sure I can make it, but certainly, great recipes are welcome anytime!!!!!!!!

And probably something else, depending what people are bringing. I need appetizers and desserts to be brought. and rolls.

That reminds me, some great recipes I saved on my old PC are lost. LOST!!! The old PC is dead. I need to take it in, maybe they can fix it. It seems like a power issue to me.

Oh, that reminds me, I had this great recipe for green bean casserole. With lots of cheese. Yummy. Bet I will never find it again.

I just had some oxtail soup i brought home from germany. Great stuff, wonderful flavor. And it brings back memories of an old BF,LOL

Happy Sunday, Moovers!

I am more screw't up than usual with the time change. I think we have had this conversation twice a year for 3 years in a row (give or take) but sheeesh! It was pitch dark here at 5:30. Didn't help that it was rainy and gloomy all day too.

Hey! I went to church for the first time since late April! Surprise!!
So I guess I'm easing out of my jack-Mormon status. Hmmm, not too painful either. Coincidentally, I'm out of coffee as of yesterday so I packed up my coffee maker for in case my mama or sister come to visit. Meh, it's all good.

Good evening, Moovers! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Welcome home, Big Guys!

Moo and Marita, I sure would've enjoyed that extra hour of sleep promised by the time change, but Mojo decided that he needed to "use the facilities" at 5:00 AM today (yesterday's time). He usually sleeps until 7ish, but not today! So I tried to go back to sleep, but no soup for me. I got up at 7:00 and started doing laundry and cleaning. I also managed to do a lot of cooking for the week.

Marita, I have a great recipe for stuffed mushrooms. Also, bacon-wrapped scallops and melon wrapped in prosciutto are super easy and can be made ahead. And don't forget a nice antipasto tray with deli meats and cheeses, olives, roasted peppers, marinated mushrooms, artichokes and eggplant strips (all of which can be bought at the grocery store and artfully arranged way before your guests arrive. Plus, it can just be left at room temp, which eliminates the need for chafing dishes.

I am sure everyone had oodles of tried and true recipes to share with you. With all the get-togethers the members of this thread host, we could probably assemble our own cookbook!

Hey, Wendy Lou!

I made up for your giving up your Jack Mormon status by going to ABC today. I cashed in my $10 prize drawing, but forgot to get my card scanned for points. WHhch won we $5 off next purchase (today), but I couldnt find the receipt, and didnt get the card scanned either. Big L on my forehead! So I lost out non getting $5 off and 63 points to next 250 point discount.
I hate it when that happens!

MommyP - Justificated (from your graphic) sounds a little bit like a Bushism  How was the chili?

:lmao: It was the only "Martin Luther" graphic I could come up with that wasn't a black man. :rotfl:

It's a fun word, try saying it out loud. It's fun to google and see how many people have used that made up word.;)

Our chili dinner was okay.

Chad worked until late on Saturday so we skipped church to spend the day together.

We went to the beach. :cool2: It was a nice day. The water temp. has dropped 10 degrees since we went to the other coast a few weeks ago. It's 72 now.

I was sitting in my chair looking out, the kids were playing in the sand and I saw something close to shore that looked like a fin, not of the dolphin kind. I got up and once I stood I could see(the water was so clear you could see to the bottom even in the deep) it was a shark. About 2 feet long about 4 feet from the shore.:scared: Not cool.

I think that extra is doing me in....:lmao: I get up at an hour earlier now but am not going to bed an hour earlier.

Doesn't help that it is raining here and dreary. It makes me sleepy too.

Mommy P-- get out of the water....:scared1: How big was this shark?

Marita-- I am with you entertaining stresses me out. I used to have to cook Christmas dinner for my in-laws with the first husband. And the only other parties I have hosted is when my kids were Baptized and had their First Communion. Only one more sacrament to go and that is Confirmation for each child when they are in grade 7. That is next year for Nicholas.

Nab - It was like 2 feet long

Chad thinks it was a hammerhead, I didn't think the head was hammer-like, but he is much taller than me and would have gotten a better look, I suppose.

Wow, 3 posts in a day? What's happening to our little group?

Pretty uneventful day here. Dentist this morning (stern warnings for my right back tooth, i need to get back in the habit of electric toothbrush), then on to hear about knitfreaks weekend for an hour. They met in person for 2 weekends now, and they are talking marriage and how to best get the parents to meet! And possible marriage dates, and he asked her her ring size (no clue what mine is). And a baby, as knitfreak is feeling the clock ticking.... Oh yes, and I did some work too!

Anyway, knitfreak is happy and beaming. A LOT!

I am betting on a Christmas engagement! And he deleted his online profile!
Knitfreak said she only edited hers to say she is currently persuing something serious, but hasnt deleted it yet.

He gave her an MP3 player loaded with sappy songs, which she listened to all day.

MP, sharks are scary!!

Ooooooooh, MommyP! Goog thing the kids weren't in the water

My car had a slight run-in with a buck on the way home from work. Just after my friend told me to watch for deer  Fortunately, I was able to slow way down and only grazed a leg, I think. No damage. And I was able to pull into the other lane so the guy behind me didn't rear end me. HopefuLly the deer wasn't hurt bad either.

Well, I got the bulk of my project done. And our Web person works late too so she uploaded everything for me :dance3:

Nabbie - I was so het up about everything I knew I needed to get done at work today that I didn't sleep well last night. I have Election Day off tomorrow! :woohoo: But I don't get to sleep in because I have a morning appointment.

Everybody remember to vote tomorrow! If you haven't already. No early voting here and I didn't get an absentee ballot.

Am I the only mom who has kids that totally freak out over dinner that isn't of the normal kid fare.

My two older boys chose to go to bed at 7ish rather than try to eat the small portion I put before them.

It was chicken breast sauteed with onions and mushrooms, green beans, carrots, with pasta. I mixed a sauce of cream of mushroom soup and some soy sauce and mixed all together.

Mal and Tim ate it. It was fine to me.

I swear they act like I am trying to poison them.

This goes on all the time and if I allow myself, I will yell at them to get them to eat.

I just don't have it in me anymore, so if they don't eat, they go to bed.

I'm just at a loss.

Mony, trust me, the kids will survive. Im like that, not a big eater. They will eat when they are hungry.

And they WILL get hungry!

and your dinner sounded good!
