I am no longer certain that I am.

So my computer uses a wireless dohicky (that is a technical term) to get to the internet. It is about the size of a cell phone and plugs into a usb port on my computer which sits on the ground next to the desk in the dining room turned office/playroom.

My baby loves to unplug and chew on it. LOVES IT. This of course slows down my posting witty commentary on any board I happen to frequent.

So tonight I get the brilliant idea to set up some sort of obstacle. There happens to be some boxes of ebay items (a whole 'nother thread) in the room so I pile them in front of the computer. Now I can't open the cd drive but my internet should be safe.

What did the baby do?

Yup. You guessed it. Climbed the boxes easy as pie and was then able to reach the mouse, the keyboard, the bills AND the wireless dohicky.

I redirected him to an educational toy and rearranged the boxes to be more intimidating.

He proceeded to crawl under the desk with the intent to play with the pretty red switch on the surge protecter.

I redirected him to an educational toy.

He quickly scaled the new and improved boxes and took over the mouse.

I redirected him to an educational toy.

He somehow found a bobby pin to chew on while he was reclimbing the boxes.

I give up. Either he is brilliant or I am not smarter than a 10 month old (maybe both). I think his new nickname is McGyver.

Heya Moovers!

Melinda, thanks for noticing my absence.:hug: I've been goog, but SOOOO busy! I manage to read back -- no skimming! -- but by the time I get through everyone's posts, I have no time to construct a post that's intelligible. :upsidedow

Quick recap of the glamour that is my life: Work is nutso, especially now that I'm working Fridays. Plus, the kids have been running me hither and yon with their various and sundry activities, projects and social events.

Boris was chosen to be a Student Council member last week! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: He's so very proud of himself! :goodvibes Also, his class was just assigned a MAJOR project on our town and its natural resources, so I've spent lots of time overseeing his use of the interweb in order to obtain the proper info.

DH has decided to pick up a second job (I guess working 60+ hours per week was not sufficient. :confused3 ). He started that last week, so I was on kid patrol all by my onesies three nights last week. This week, he's only scheduled for 2 days at the second job. Unfortunately, one of those days is our town's annual Parade of Horribles, so he'll miss out on that this year. :sad2:

Boris has STILL not decided what to dress up as for Halloween. So here I am, 11 days before (and 6 days before the Parade of Horribles!), with no costume for him. He doesn't want to make any hasty decisions, he says.

I finally gave in yesterday and put the heat on at the Lalijack Estates. I didn't want to do it, but I thought that 62 degrees in the living room was a bit chilly for me. Next thing you know, there'll be snowflakes flying. Waaaaaah!

Mony
, I am LOVING Pathwords on Facebook! I have games going with several people, and I'm kicking butt so far! Any other takers? :cool2:

Gotta get back to work before CBM comes skulking back from lunch, but I'll check in again later on. Have a great Monday afternoon, everyone! Cya!

I finally turned the heat on today too. It is a raining cloudy kind of day and only 63 in the house so I gave in too.

Buddy is driving me crazy he as knocked over his water three times day flooding the floor and me getting soaked feet without even stepping out the door.:sad2:

It is picture day today for Nicholas and I made him shower and comb his hair this morning. You think I was asking him to do something terrible. Oh I also told him to put on a pair of jeans instead of shorts, that apparently ruined his whole outfit choice.:confused3 He still had the same top on, and they only take from the waist up. And in the whole class picture he is so tall you wouldn't know if he had pants on or not because he is in the back.:lmao:

Hannah's is tomorrow, can't wait to see what she wants to wear.

Celery and Celsmom -- prayers for you family.

Steph-- that is so sad. Prayers for that family too.

Sandy-- glad your slowing down some what. Hope your dd feels better soon. And your hubby gets to enjoy his holiday too.

Ack! Just realized that the DIS ate some of my post! Can't remember the whole thing, but I did want to offer condolences to Steph on the loss of her friend's 14 y.o. Also, offering prayers for the whole Celery family.

Gotta fly.................

Cel and Cel Mamma: I did not forget you, only my fingers did when typing this morning.

The exam was fairly easy. Just one or two I got hung up on, out of 70.

Now the hard ones tomorrow and thursday.

Biology Lab practical and another Biology Exam.

My Zach too was chosen as a student council representative this year. He's also on the safety patrol and this Saturday is the last football game.

Mal tried out for the Nutcracker Ballet at her studio and she is now a mouse and our 45 minutes Saturday morning at dance has turned into 3 hours.

Matt is trying very hard to get back on track at school. We were not happy at conferences. And he is trying, that's the important thing.

Madelyn is taking steps!!!!!! Finally!!!!!

Mony, YAY and EEk a srppropriate toythe kids 3 hour reheasals???

Sandy, glad you are are taking it easy at Disney! I'm still up for Wednesday as of now, if you read this. I am getting scones with jam and devonshire cream. Now this it was totally blew me over: They are listed at $3.50 at Disney?

Allears.net also has a post about the new T-Rex restaurant at DTD. EXPENSIVE!!

Twinkie, was there ever any doubt about grasshopper being a genious? You should have held back some math camp genes!

Went to the Halloween party at work today gaziollon foods set up. Of course nobody ate my storebought cupcakes. But that's OK. it better than having lovingly cooked foo rejected, LOL. The boss had the best idea, he brought NOTHING! I left at 2:40 :rolleyes1

And I did do some work when I got home. ABout xmas buget for entertainment. ANd referring back to last year, I found some hardcoded numbers , that I have no idea where they came from~ :scared1: And I am supposed to present something on Wednesday (or boss is). But im not going to worry about it tonight.

Anyone going at xmas, enjoy the characters, they are EXPENSIVE!

Mommy P-- when was the last time you took pictures, hope you didn't lose it when you were hiking. That is one big tree to climb. I would probably freaking out instead of taking pictures.

I found it just today. Actually Ethan found it. It was in a bag of hangers that I brought home from the my Parents house last Tuesday. The only place I didn't look because I forgot about the bag.

Friday late morning we decided to go away. We pricelined a hotel on Singer Island on the other coast(our favorite beach destination), a beach front Hilton for $77. Can't beat that. So we threw things in a suitcase, packed up the beach stuff and headed to Walmart to get some other things. One of which was a new camera. I didn't know where ours was and I wasn't about to go away for the weekend without a camera. :rotfl:

So I took a ton of pictures on the way there.

West Palm Beach is pretty much a straight shot across the state. A very desolate drive. Nothing but small towns

and sugar cane.

(Lake Okeechobee is behind that.)

IMG_0035.jpg

Isaac was not happy the last few miles and of course we got stuck at every light and the same train, twice. All about 2 miles from the hotel.
Finally!

We decided to go take a walk on the beach. It was a beautiful evening. The boys were so happy to get to stretch their legs and run.

We ate dinner at the good but more expensive than Disney restaurant at the hotel. Unfortunately there were 2 weddings going on while we were there and the trash that came with the weddings wasn’t fun to deal with. Our first encounter was at dinner. The people at the table next to us were having a very colorful conversation about the lastest Flava Flave(sp?) shenanigans. Not really something I wanted to expose the kids to.

After we ate we decided to call it a night and go to the room to get showered and go to bed. At 12:40AM our neighbors came back to their room after a night of partying and drinking. The door slammed countless times and they were talking loud enough that I could make out some of the conversation. They finally moved down the hall so I no longer could hear their voices, just the slamming of the doors. Let me tell you Disney Value Resorts sonic flushing toilets and thin walls have nothing on the Hilton on Singer Island. I think their walls are actually cleverly disguised partitions. A wonderful hotel, but I can’t imagine paying full price to stay there. I had to nurse Isaac like 2 times during the night because all the noise woke him up. When morning finally came I allowed to boys to make as much noise as possible so we would bother the neighbors who had to be sleeping off hangovers. It was a beautiful day. A wonderful sunrise.
IMG_0171.jpg

We fed the boys pop tarts ordered a nasty pot of coffee and watched Journey to the Center of the Earth before we headed out to the beach. We made it out there about 10:30 and it couldn’t have been a nicer day. I LOVED the zoom on the new camera. 12X. Super nice!
IMG_0187.jpg

Everyone loved playing in the waves, which were quite huge. The surf was very big that morning. It’s so much more relaxing to watch them play in the gulf.
IMG_0204.jpg

IMG_0207.jpg

IMG_0209.jpg

IMG_0219.jpg

After an hour or so the baby bit the dust. He slept for an hour and a half or so.
IMG_0211.jpg

I finally got a chance to go play.
IMG_0231.jpg

After Isaac woke up and we ate lunch Kaleb asked to take a nap, so I held him until he fell asleep and then he laid down for about an hour.

Isaac loves the beach as long as he doesn’t have to be near the sand.
IMG_0251.jpg

We went for a walk down the beach to the jetty after Kaleb woke up.
IMG_0283.jpg

IMG_0291.jpg

IMG_0301.jpg

Isaac enjoyed his first chocolate chip cookie that afternoon.
IMG_0314.jpg

Seth enjoyed a faceful of sand.
IMG_0318.jpg

FINALLY Isaac allowed his feet to touch the sand.
IMG_0328.jpg

We let them swim at the pool for a little while that evening and then we had pizza in the room. The boys went to sleep and Chad and I watched like an hour and a half of Cops. Lol

I’ll finish the rest later.

Moo....Pilsbury sugar cookie dough is a great idea! Thanks! :thumbsup2 And I bet I could even eat some of the dough as I was baking the cookies. Not that I love cookie dough or anything. :rolleyes1

Nab...glad to hear that camp went well for Hannah. :thumbsup2 I remember hating any and all school camp experiences from my youth. I hope to never take a camping trip again. I fail to see the appeal. So did she still want to do the dishes tonight? :lmao:

DTD...thanks for referring to the cockroaches as "the freakiest thing you've ever seen." Way to reassure me.

Cel...prayers said and hugs to you. Families can stink sometimes.

Steph...prayers for your friend and you as well. How sad. :sad1:

Sandy...glad to hear you're having a good time in the World! :cool1: Thanks for checking in!

L...Boris doesn't really care about making hasty decisions. He just wants to see you freak when he finally lets you know what he wants to be 2 days before Halloween. He SO knows Martha Stewart won't like that. I bet his dad put him up to it as he must be sleep deprived what with those 2 jobs. Sheesh!

Monica...you seem to forever be taking an exam! Glad today's went well!

MommyP...that's so cool that you can just decide to go to the beach for the weekend. How fun! And those were some really great pictures of your boys. Looks like a nice weekend!

Tomorrow I have to go to this stupid meeting thing all day. So, I'll be in the school building, but not in my room. I am writing my note for my sub right now and I just wrote "If you need any help, ask ________, _________, and __________. Do NOT take ANY suggestions whatsoever from _________ and _____________." :rotfl: Was that wrong of me? I just know those kids will totally try to take advantage of the sub!

For some reason when I press the space bar, my computer ends up moving the cursor to the next line. :scratchin This was a difficult post to type. Just sayin. Y'all should be grateful. :snooty:

MommyP, those are some fabulous pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have a beautiful family!
I might be going to bed early tonight, EEKKKKKK!

MP!!! Amazing pics of the boys walking away in the sand! And the sillouette (sp) one is great too! Well, they ALL are. I just love seeing all 5 together :grouphug: Oh, nice "guns" too ;)

PJ- I think that note will be helpful for the sub. :thumbsup2 Yes, very greatful.

Im going to bed at 9:30. I must be sick!

Moo, you can relate right?

Here's to to hoping I wont be up again in a couple of hours!

OK, I am going to take some Nyquil and hope for the best!

Happy Tuesday to all!

Thanks everyone. The service went ok. It was just really hard. She was a great kid and Heaven is sweeter now.

MommyP, LOVE the pictures! Looks like you guys had a great time.

Mony, YAY for Nutcracker mice, student council reps and walking babies!

1. Peej, be careful....even some Pillsbury sugar cookie dough is packaged in a plant that processes tree nut products, so read the label. It depends on which facility the dough is packaged in......I found that out AFTER I made plans to buy 4 packages for a playdate activity. Yup, ended up having to make alternate plans for that afternoon.

2. Heh...I wouldn't put it past DH to put Boris up to a stunt like that. What a pair of wiseguys. I've finally gotten Boris to commit to either a skeleton or a faceless ghost costume. Now all I have to do is find either of those in time for Sunday.

3. Both my kids have a half day on Wednesday because the teachers have a "curriculum enrichment" day scheduled. Whatever that means. Is that what your meeting is? Cuz if so, can you explain WTHeck you teachers do all day? Anyhoo, in light of the half day, this week's Brownie meeting has been moved up from its usual 3:45 to 12:45, without regard for those parents who have actual jobs. :rolleyes1 That means I won't be able to make it to work on Wednesday. Oy.

I need a personal assistant!

1. Thank you, Captain Obsession. Now I have something else to check into.
2. Why would a ghost be faceless?
3. It's called a Grade Group Planning Day. All of the teachers who teach some combo of 1, 2, and 3 grade have to be there. We all compare lesson plans, look at the curriculum maps we're supposed to be following, make sure we're on target, etc. After talking to my grade group leader after school today I learned that basically we're going to go around and compare some lesson plans and then goof off. Should be time well spent as well as money well spent on subs. The public school system blows my mind. Curriculum Enrichment sounds like a code word for they're going to have to sit through a boring meeting.
4. Do you pay well? :rolleyes1

Those pictures were so cute . You have the sweetest little boys. Some are blue eyed and some are brown eyed. When are you going to have a sweet little princess? Your pictures made me feel better. Thank you. We just came back from seeing DS at the hospital. He says they think he is Bi-polar. So I am taking it one day at the time. I appreciate all the hugs.

1. Well, you don't want to be the teacher responsible for little Susie's anaphylactic shock, do you? You're welcome. :snooty:
2. IDK. Last year, he was a skeleton-faced ghost. Or sumpn like that. I am seeing a trend, I think.........
3. Thanks for that info? According to my sources, Massachusetts is 8th in the nation for highest paid teachers. My town's teachers earn an average of $55,224 and have a teacher-student ration of 13-1. You're welcome again. :cool2:

I have nothing to say on this post that I quoted, per se, except to say OMG! UtahMama changed her siggy pic!
