....................Now that I finished Breaking Dawn (752 pages!)

I JUST finished today. I loffed it.
Now what? Maybe I'll pick up #14 in the Stephanie Plum books (by Janet Evanovich) They toadilly crack me up!

Although I have resisted so far, if you people continue to talk about these vampire books, I will be forced to go to Barnes & Noble and get them. Thing is, I am in the middle of a Jonathan Kellerman, and have a Philippa Gregory waiting on my bookshelf, plus at least a half dozen others on a "To Read" list (I told ya I'm a list maker!)

Breaking news: I started typing out this post at just after 9:30. See the time? 11ish. Why did it take me 90 minutes to get actually post? Well, it appears that DH left the basement door open while puttering in the yard last night, and a BAT got into the house! Just as the kids were getting into bed, the bat appeared in the upstairs hallway and was flying around! The cat (who is almost 16, and not exactly spry) was chasing the bat around! Boris and Natasha came zooming down the stairs and we all three (plus Mojo) took refuge in my mom's. I called DH (who was out with friends) and made him drive 40 minutes to come rescue us.

He cornered the bat IN MY BEDROOM :scared1: and manuevered it into a ginormous plastic bag. The bat has now been released into the yard. The kids, although freaked out, are now attempting to sleep (they're both in Boris' room, since Natasha wasn't feeling the whole alone-in-a-room vibe).

I now have a severe case of the hebegeebees! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Java: thanks for something else to consider. Yes he did injure his ribs several years ago and I'm betting on that for these spots.

I liked Breaking Dawn Marita, I just have some issues.

I don't want to get all crazy like I THINK what's going on at some other sites, that's not my intent. I just wanted to talk casually with someone to see if anyone feels the way I do, without ruining the book for anyone else.

I don't want to talk about it out in the open until everyone is done with it.

But I'd love a pm conversation if anyone is up for it.:rolleyes1 (ahem Wendy)

EEK, Lynt, that sounds really scary!!! I think a bat would seriously freak me out!

I will send you all 4 books for the price of postage if you want.
I have no further use for them, and they would just take up space I dont have.

PS: I think it's time for a chat soon, now that most kids are back in school! It's been ages (that I know of anyway)

Yep...the kids and I are toadily freaked! This isn't the first experience we've had with bats....we had one flying around the first floor about a year or so ago. DH caught and released that one too, but the kids were asleep upstairs, so they only heard about it the next day.

As for the books, you've got yourself a deal! PM me your address and I'll send you the postage (I can PayPal it if you have an account.) Thanks!

I'll trust you with a check, Lynette! I dont have paypal.

You want the first 3 now or wait till I can send all 4? That might be a while.

I caught a couple little brown bats over the years in Bowling Green...even as a child and I took the little bat to school for show and tell an we fed him crickets.......lots of caves around the Mamouth cave parks just 30 miles north of Bowling Green.

(How bizarre, I got to log in as me today!! lol)

Lynn > EEEEK! (and I thought a squirrel chewing thru the wall was heebeegebbish!!) glad its out!! Sleep tight!

Wendy - I still cant believe DD is reading the series - thanks to the neighbor that lent her books.. I almost picked it up so I could talk with y'all!!

Mony and Tim Prayers, hugs, and positive vibes!!

SHOWER IS DONE!! Lots of minor drama (the water softener and water pump got unplugged!! major "NO WATER" ) But everyone came, and had fun! We played "20 questions" where fdil had to answer random questions about ds - (name ALL the schools ds went to! His favorite book, the book he's currently reading...etc) My mom's fav part is when we did the leg contest, we blindfolded fdil and made her feel 6 legs and pick out her fiance - roflol she picked his brother!! too funny!

MY sils and mil came. Very sweet. I may just have to drive to Indy next weekend!!

Marita it was a touching moment when they played the German anthem, but you just knew they were hoping Torres would break down and bawl! sheesh!

I hope I can chat with y'all!!

A bat, Lynette? Ewwwwww!!!!!

According to my sister, we had one in our house one time when she was house/dog sitting several years ago while we were on vacation. That was the last time she stayed here :scared:

She also left the house and waited for someone to get it out. I guess it strafed her head.

I haven't jumped on the vampire book bandwagon yet, either. But now that I have paid the out-of-district library fee for the year, maybe I can request them on-line.

Well, I have been looking at the codes and discounts board tonight and apparently the week I switched to is Pop Warner week. Plus the week seems to be blacked out for discounts and the Disney Visa code didn't come out as expected either, just a General Public code on Thursday. So I may need to re-think those dates. Ugh.

Marita - Sorry to hear that your DS didn't get off-base housing. Can he find his own housing or is it assigned?

Might as well wait for the 4th book, since I have several books in queue to be read first. Thanks again! :goodvibes

Hound, my DH grew up in a little suburb south of Boston, and he says there were lots of bats in his neighborhood. When we first moved here, he was actually happy to see bats, since they eat thousands of bugs per day. I, on the other hand, had no bats in my city neighborhood. And I sure as helk don't want 'em in my house! The only undomesticated animals I care to see would be in a zoo!

We may have Palmetto bugs and roaches and lizzards here, but so far no bats. WHEW!

And thanks to Sears once a year pest control, no roaches in the house (that we know of) But plenty of lizards outside, but they are good, they eat bugs. I just saw a tiny baby one earlier outside. Luckily, they dont usually get into the house. If any do, the cat is on a hunt!!

The Bats I caught were outside sleeping ...hanging from low tree limbs in a wooded area I like to go bottle digging hunting ...I caught them in a large jar an never actually touched them....the only live animal they ever got into the house was a squirl that fell down into the chimney

GOOD MORNING!

I spent most of the rest of the day yesterday cleaning house and scoping out rentals in Gatlinburg. Current dilemma: condo in town or chalet on the mountain.

Mimi worked a 12 hour double shift yesterday and took Breaking Dawn WITH HER! What was she thinking? I'm on 450ish and can't get any further due to book availability. Should've bought my own.

Lynette....What Phillipa Gregory is on your list? Sumpm new? Scary bat story. Bats are so creepy! Is your DH from around Marshfield Hills? Remember I told you we have a friend from there? He and his family were at the beach near Plymouth (White stag? Stag's head?) two weeks ago. They're still trying to get us to go with them next year.

Monica....I think it's the broken ribs too. Pity they have to operate to find out? Isn't there some non-invasive procedure they could do???

Moo....Poop Warner scares me after reading Nebo's December report. I'd consider switching too.

Sandy.....Those sound like some cute pre-wedding games! Where'd you get those ideas?

Marita....You're so sweet to ship those books. Where is the DS to live???

Wendee.....I don't know where to go from here? I think Janet Evanovich is next on my list. Are they are R rated or just PG? My friend is looking for something to read but she wants R.

MommyP....Hope you had fun at the beach. The noive....leaving without taking your turn! ;)

Hound....Thanks for the Olympics update. I have not watched one second of the Olympics.

EVERYONE HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY!

“But, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.”
- 2 Corinthians 10:17-18

Good Morning!

Yesterday Mr. Twink and I celebrated 11 years of marriage. In that time we have had 4 babies, 3 houses, and 2 graduate degrees. Not bad. It is also exactly 10 years since our first Disney trip (the one day trip that turned into a really really long trip report).

I kinda skimmed but had to go back and actually read because I was wondering why I don't know these Cullens with money. Whose family are they? Oh they are the Vampires. Duh. :rotfl: I haven't read the books either. I don't know how I feel about the undead.

However I love bats. Way to go Mr. Lalijack.:thumbsup2 While bats are wild creatures who do belong outside eating 5 times their weight in bugs EVERY NIGHT, I would be so happy to seem some around my house.

If you see a bat laying on your porch or floor- don't touch it- it is there because it is probably sick. Bats on the wing are most likely VERY healthy. Bats sleeping on man made structures are probably healthy. The little brown bat actually prefers to roost on man made structures. I found one in an out house once.

I seriously doubt the 'strafing the head' story. Unless she had already hit the bat and thus disoriented it. Bats have crazy good eyesight and are very smart. They eat flying insects at night for goodness sake. There is no way they fly into anything. However I can see how if you were scared of the bat doing just that thing it might feel like it was happening. I once almost screamed at the top of my lungs convinced that some sea creature had swam up against me at the beach. It was the hot pink ruffle on my teeny bopper bathing suit (I was 15 at the time so don't judge my fashion sense.)

Anyway, BH- I have caught and touched bats. (I was professionally trained so don't try this at home kids. When dealing with bats: Always wear thick gloves- goat skin is preferred because it is thicker than the bat's teeth are long, thus no chance of a bite breaking the skin.) It is absolute magic to watch them take flight.
