Pumbaa - my dad researched our geneology - and now we belong to a huge surname reunion - my aunts want to go to the reunion - its in Virginia where the first surname guy got the land awarded to him - very large families -

We're gathering over at DS place to taste test 3 cakes for the wedding, I've been researching flowers! spending time on theknot.

Mony - precious sound! goog luck on the flooring!!

gotta run!

(great sentiment thanks for posting bh)

hubbies ancestors came to upper part of Maine with free land giving to them by the state of Mass for being in the Revolutionary War........so alot of family oldsters were in one location.....so this will be part of the group we will be seeing..Maine was part of Massachusettes back in the "old" days....

guess I should get my act together and get dressed.......hot and humid in Maine again today......

Cute picture, BH!

Sorry to hear about the bad storm, Pumba. It has just been raining/drizzly here today, but no thunder/lightning. A goog day to relax and read a book.

I made a pasta salad earlier today. That will probably be my only "cooking" for the day.

Sandy - We'll expect a report on the cake tasting, etc.!!! :)

Hope Lynette and family make it safely home today :grouphug:

Happy saturday, everyone. I second Moo on the bad storm sentiments and the cake tasting (we beed a report)

I just got back from the world;s longest pedicure. But I guess if anything can take too long, a pedicture is the way to go. Also got an eyebrow wax. And did some quick shopping at the store next to the nail salon (WInn-Dixie). I really used to hate that store, but it is the closest to my house. But they have improved tremendously in the last few years. Alas, today I could not find 2 things: 1) Pimentoes (for chicken a la king) and 2) beef stew seasoning (obvioius), so I left ticked off again.

So after longest pedicure in the history of the world, I got home with my chicken and stew meet and without necessary ingredients. DD asked if I was making dinner. I said tomorrow. So she is making Pizza muffins, which are very good. I asked for 3, but DD told me I am not going to eat 3, so she is not making 3 for me. Somewhere I went dreadfully wrong!
Either that or she knows me too well :rotfl:

Oh, and I bought 6 more thingies of Campbell Soup at Hand (Broccoli) for lunch at work, It is soo good! But expensive for 6 oz. Like 3 for $5.

Moo, pasta salad sounds goog!

I guess I will make chicken ala king for dinner tommorow

Marita, the pasta salad was pretty good, but I think I put a little too much onion in it. I made it with bow tie pasta, creamy Italian dressing, onion, green pepper, little cubes of sharp cheddar cheese, and chopped pepperoni. Wish I'd had some broccoli florets to put in it.

Sounds like your DD knows your eating habits very well ;) I'm jealous about your pedicure!

I have the makings for potato salad too, including some already chopped onion. I think I'll cook up some red-skinned potatoes and hard boil some eggs tonight so I can make that tomorrow. DH doesn't like it (or pasta salad), but I can take some of the potato salad in to work and share with one of my friends. I will make some other kind of potatoes for hubby. He just called from the store and is going to get some ground chuck so we can grill burgers tomorrow. Hope it is a less dreary day.

pedicure, winn-dixie, chicken ala-king, stew, pizza muffins and salad - what a thread!!!;)

Sounds like fun- except for the pedicure, I am sure they would need a jack hammer and a sandblaster for my feet:rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday. My youngest just got back from Boy Scout Summer Camp - we sent him directly to the shower (p-u I am sure you know how 14 year old boys can smell  ). He leaves tomorrow for another 6 day Boy Scout Camp (leadership camp this time) and he is begging me to take him to the Dark Night - I guess I will give in and take him (even though I went with DD to the midnight show on Friday (Thursday night)).

Oh yea, the food sound good ladies (I love chicken-ala-king):)

Cy - Two weeks of Scout camp in a row? Sounds like a great opportunity for your son!

What did you think of Dark Night?

Two of my work friends (married couple) are hosting two Scouts from Austria next week who will be in Michigan for an International camp event. They're trying to figure out where to take them on their free day - probably Lake Michigan if the weather cooperates. And they're supposed to take them to a couple different places so they can experience life in the U.S. So they're likely going to a minor league baseball game and grocery shopping. Some group activities that are planned for the visiting Scouts are a trip to Cedar Point and a visit to a water park. I think they'll have a busy week before they go to Northwoods :upsidedow

Cy, if not a pedicure, how about that eyebrow wax?????

Sounds like a great summer for your DS. I take it Dark Night is a movie? Sonded like some sort of event to me at first.

MY DS called today. DD was supposed to deposit his check this morning, but she had to go to a class. He was all upset because he was trying to pay some bills. Anyway, DH went to deposit them. Then DS was going to rent a hotel room (get the heck out of Dodge, aka off base) and work on a seating chart for visiting dignitaries for graduation (how that relates to a anything, I do not know, but it was an assignment) and on a video (assistant historian is one of his assignments).

Moo, potato salad sounds goog too!

Welcome home, Lynette! Check in please.

Heya, MOOvers! Thanks for all the good wishes! Our trip was fantastic! :flower3: We got home last night around 8ish. By the time I got everything situated, fed the kids, started unpacking, got everyone showered, yada yada yada, all I really wanted to do was crash. Unfortunately, AirTran decided to put one of suitcases on the flight AFTER ours  , so I had to wait up for it to arrive by courier last night. I was in full panic mode for several hours, since that particular suitcase contained ALL our character meal photos, most of our souvenirs, and about $300 worth of MY shoes! :scared1: Luckily, the suitcase arrived unscathed a little after 1am. Whew!

The Lalijack family met Peej on Wednesday for breakfast at Ohana, and then we dragged her around MK with us for a bit. She is even more hotT and snarkulous IRL than she is online! She also met us for breakfast at Boma yesterday morning before we checked out of AKL. Such a sweetie!

Looks like things have been pretty slow and steady here, huh? Hope that everyone is well!

ETA: Hound, thanks to a conversation my DD overheard at the airport, I know about the goings on at SYTYCD, but only the girls. I have this week's epi's on DVR, so don't tell me what happened with the boys, 'kay? Thanks!

L, so glad you AND all your suitcases made it back safe and sound!!!

We did have a very brief report from Peej that you had met, but as I'm sure you know, Peej is currently off on other adventures. I'm sure it was a snarktastic goog meet :goodvibes ;) :thumbsup2

Did you run into WT while you were visiting the Mouse??!

Welvome back, Lynt! Glad you had a great time! It's been a bit slow around here, typical summer duldroms, LOL. People actually think they can go on vacation and do activities, for some reason,:confused3

Yikes on the suitcase situation, that was about the last thing you needed, I'm sure! Shudder!

Thanks, Moo! Our return flight was far less pleasant than I'd hoped, but it's all good now.

Peej is off playing tourist now with her family. I can't believe how early she has to start school! Eeek!

No WT sightings occurred during my stay. His loss. Who WOULDN'T want to schmai around the World with my family plus the pirate ballerina? Harumph!

Thanks, Marita! The noive of some peeps, thinking they can carry on a life outside the DIS! Sheesh!

The suitcase situation just compounded the aggravation which developed when, due to a brief but severe patch of turbulence, and entire cup of coffee (mine) plus a half cup of water (Natasha's) went up in the air and came down on my right shoulder, soaking my shirt front and back, as well as the seatback. That was about 30 minutes into the 3 hour flight. Not so comfy. :sad2: Oy.

EEEKKKKKKKK:scared1: That does not sound good at all!

OH, OH OH!!!!!!!!!

Guess what I just found?

Brokeback Mountain just started on Bravo TV  I have been wanting to see that.

Hmmm, why are those cowboys herding SHEEP?

Ick on the coffee shower, Lynette :scared: What a waste of caffeine. Hope Natasha wasn't too unnerved by the turbulence.

Harumph, indeed, on WT being so standoffish! :lmao:

Hope you have some photos you can share here or on FB :thumbsup2

Marita, I never have seen Brokeback Mountain so I am also :confused3 on the sheep.

ITA about wasting the caffeine! Luckily, Natasha was more peeved about her spilled drink than worried about the bumpy ride. Boris was snoozing, and never even woke up!

I do indeed have oodles of photos! I'm planning on uploading them tomorrow, and I'll prolly share them then too. :goodvibes
