Thanks, I didn't even notice!

DS stopped by unexpectedly tonight and promptly fell asleep on the couch. He's been up since midnight, and had to go to a Christening for a friends baby today and a birthday party. So is now crashed and covered with a blanket.

So that means he will probably not stop by in the morning, and this the last time before he leaves.

Talked to my SIL today about mom, she is s0-so. Back at home with nurses morning and evenings, meals on wheels at noon, and brother and a friend in between. SIL says she sleeps a lot. I told her mom said she would call, but she said she can't really.
Tomorrow is her 94th birthday. It's really sad. She went from a vibrant lady in February to a shell of herself in just 3 months.
Anyway, going to try again to call her tomorrow, she didnt pick up today.

Thanks Marita and Kay, I hope it heals fast too. I have lots of stuff to do this week. Nicholas birthday is Thursday.

Pumba-- that is very sweet of you. I will have to remember to keep it up.

I am afraid of hitting it while I am sleeping ....

I remember that, it was in her pre trippie.

Does that mean I get a trip to WDW too!!! Hubby would probably would take me too but he is too busy at work. The kids have been bugging him to go in the summer.

Yes, that means you get a trip AND DVC!

But for heavens sake, DO NOT GO IN THE SUMMER!

SIS I am very sorry to hear about your mother's condition. It is hard to see a parent decline. :grouphug:

My mother's memory and communications skills have gotten a lot worse in the last year. My cousin just stopped for a visit and had last seen her about 1.5 years ago. He noticed a big change. For me, it has been noticeable but gradual.

To hot in the summer I know....but the kids don't have school. Mind you it would probably Aug. and we know it is really hot then.

I think it all depends on gas prices as well, towing a trailer could be pretty expensive. Especially since we will have this big reno happening and will take forever to pay off.

Marita-- hope you get to talk to your mom on her birthday or at least for Mother's day next weekend.

More things we have in common, unfortunately not a good one.

Too bad there won't be gas flames to roast things over when you come down.

But maybe we could do the S'mores on the beach at Beach Club over an open fire

No gas stove in the studio unit? Bummer ;)

I just read today about the campfire and s'mores. YUM. We stayed at the DVC in Hilton Head a few years ago and they had singing by the campfire and s'mores. Of course we were all over that activity! I also read tonight that Beach Club has movies on the beach. Not sure how that works, but sounds like fun.

S'mores $7, movies are free! For now, anyway

Evening, Moovers. :grouphug:

Moo...I just said I was sitting on the infield because the bbn educated me on the fact that that's where the trollops sit. So, naturally, that's where I would be found. ;) Are you feeling any better? Hope the coughing/wheezing went away, that's no fun!

Marita...congrats to your DD on her graduation! :cheer2: Hope you're continuing to enjoy your time with DS.

Nab
...your comment about seeing all the little girls in their white dresses at first communion made me giggle. Because I think I am the only little girl who didn't wear a white dress to make first communion! I still remember fighting my mom on that one, I wanted to wear green! She kept telling me I had to wear white but I'm a stubborn lil thing and sure enough, I got to wear the mint green dress I wanted to wear while all the other little girls were dressed in white. I've always bucked the system. Heh.
Sorry to hear about your finger. OUCH! :headache: Hope it doesn't cause you any pain tonight.

Mony...WOOHOOTY on a new laptop!!!!!!!!! :dance3: :cheer2: :cool1: And double woohooty on getting all those precious pictures back! :thumbsup2

Utah...yikes. Sorry to hear about Norah and DH's job. Is Norah feeling any better? That cowboy room is AWESOME! If I had a little boy, I would totally hire you to decorate his room, that's too cute!

bbn...hope y'all made it home safely. Did the tooth fairy come? ;)

Lexi, DTD, Pumba, Kay, Allie, and anyone I missed....HI!!!!

Today was a bittersweet day for me. I don't know if I mentioned this at the time, but the day of my grandmother's funeral, Cincinnati got a huge snow/ice storm. Many people couldn't make it to the funeral, and the roads were horrible. Since obviously most of my grandma's friends were older, a lot of them didn't even try to come. We never felt quite right about that, so I suggested we do a memorial service. My grandma loved spring more than anything because she was a huge gardener and loved her flowers. So, we decided to do the memorial service once we were sure it would be spring! We held it this afternoon. The people at Hospice actually helped us to coordinate it and provided the meeting space for it. Have I mentioned how AMAZING everyone at Hospice was? Many of her friends came out, and we took time to share our favorite memories about her, sing some songs, and just honor her life. I lit a candle at the beginning of the service and then it was also my job to extinguish it at the end. That was hard, but I am so glad that everyone who wanted to do so finally got to say goodbye. I also shared a reading from a book I've been working through. I'd like to share it with y'all if you don't mind, but as always, feel free to skim....

"In having to go where you least want to go, and in choosing to do what is most difficult to do, may you discover yourself becoming not only a different person, but a deeper person. Not just seasoned, but more real. Not just more knowledgeable, but more compassionate. Not just more hearty, but more whole. May your pilgrimage through your experience of loss lead you to both renewed life and replenished hope. May you come to rediscover what you've never really lost, your truest and best self. And may you arrive at the place where you first started, that place which is still the same and yet very different, and may you feel like you're coming home."

Okay, I'll stop, thanks for listening to my ramblings!

PJ

See, this is so great about our circle of friends here. We can laugh and cry together.

I now have to go wake up my crashed on the couch son (again, I tried earlier, he has been up since midnight to work) so he can sleep a little more and go hit the road to ALABAMA tomorrow.

ETA: he announced he is going to spend the night on the couch

OK fine, I will see him tomorrow then... Maybe he can talk to his grandmother too before he leaves.

Alllie, keep an eye out for him OK? You are the closest, I think

Nabbie! :grouphug: So sorry your hurt your finger. Hope it heals quickly - you have such a busy time ahead of you the next couple weeks.

Kay - What an awesome deal you found!!! I know you'll have a great time visiting with Marita. I get to see her real soon - it's only a little more than a week away, in fact!!!

:dance3: WOO HOO on the new laptop, Mony!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you that your photos were retrievable :yay:

Marita - Glad to hear you got at least a short visit with your DS before he leaves tomorrow  I hope you get to talk with your mom tomorrow.

Peej - Sounds like you had a beautiful service for your grandma  That was such an appropriate passage. I think it helps to have that kind of closure.

I have been working on my packing this evening. I am still feeling wheezy, but have been taking Airborne all day and trying to rest. I think I will check with the doctor's office tomorrow to see if I can get some meds to take with me on my trip in case this goes full-blown into bronchitis because it's so hard to get treated while you're on vacation. There have been a couple people who I work closely with who have had bronchitis recently and my friend's daughter who was at our get-together yesterday was sick  I'm trying to stay positive because I cannot be sick during vacation.

Everyone - Have a goog start to your week tomorrow!

Good Morning Sunshines! :goodvibes

Time for a fake Lexy post. ;)

PJ- How lovely to have a memorial service. Also here are some more hugs for job hunting and anything else that might require them   PS: I am loling about your mint green first communion dress.

NAB- So sorry about your injury! That kind of stuff scares me. Hope you heal quickly.

DTD- WHAt? no podcast? Don't worry. You are still famous to me.

Moo- Packing! Yeehaw :laundy: Think positive thoughts on not getting sick:wizard: Have sooo much fun on this trip. Here is a graguashion pirate (kind of like a cap, eh?) for your DD. pirate:

Mony- Moohooty on new toys and most importantly recovering the pics! :dance3: I know you know that I know that you know that I know how you feel.

Kay- That is wild and crazy :rotfl:

Marita- Sounds like the maybe future in-laws are nice people. :grouphug: for kids leaving the nest.

Utah- I used to have a room that color (only a smidge more lemon). The paint chip was called Sugar Cookie which may be why I picked it. :upsidedow PS: Very sneaky and almost Pollyannaish:rolleyes1 on slipping in the new job info. Congrats to you both. I know what you mean on the the mad funk vibe that can follow people home.

BBN- Hi! Hope you had a great weekend.

It is May! It's May! A Merry month for going astray! song lyric anyone?

Why is May always crazy busy with graguashions and showers and family visits and end of school activities? Add a kid birthday into the mix and :faint:

Yesterday we went to DS's baseball game. It was the Future Third Baseman's first experience. He loved it. I could tell that he was soaking it all in. He did snooze during the fourth inning and so did our team. :headache: I think his favorite part was the on-tap concessions. Ha. Ninja child hung out in the dugout and was so cute as he copied the big kids by yelling useful comments and practicing his pitching and sliding. The girls made friends with the other little sisters. However the highlight of the afternoon was when one child bit into her apple and a tooth popped out. It wasn't even loose. She couldn't stop grinning. pixiedust: She did NOT engineer a cowbell triggered trap for the Tooth Fairy. She did insist that the Fairy wanted the tooth to be carefully ziploc'd which made sense to me.

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Nicely done, Twink! Love the recap of the ballgame. What are you doing up at 4am? You never said?

NAB!
Owwww! That's gonna be sore! Glad you're ok. You now deserve a trip to Disney World. Take advantage. ;)

KAY! Please reveal your secret for getting a week at the BCV for under $300. I won't tell anybody.

PJ
....I loved your passage. What a wonderful way of comforting your family. I couldn't have gotten through it without crying. You're a brave girl.

Marita....Give DS a squeeze for us too. We'll be waiting for news from boot camp.

Monica....Love the new laptop!

Moo....The Wii is going nicely. We have more guests now as the "big" boys in the neighborhood love to play and DS loves to have them over. Have fun packing! You lucky dog.

DTD....I missed the whole Sandy thing! Where can I find it?

Wendy....More food paint?! Really? Can't wait to see how it comes out. My dining room is red and I have a nice pale yellow/gold ready to paint it with. But then the living room will need painting too. Then the trim. :headache:

Everybody else......:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
