Moo'vers 2012 Edition! come on in!

Thanks, Nabbie and Marita. I hope the weather cooperates for their drive too! They are leaving early afternoon tomorrow and driving to Columbus, Ohio and spending the night at Mari's friend's house so they don't have to worry about finding a hotel that allows dogs. Then it's about a six hour drive from there. I warned Mari that the temperatures are expected to drop again. It is 15F tonight. So glad the down jacket I bought last year still fits so I'll be warm during the graveside service.

Nabbie - I sure wish I had a cruise to look forward to, but I'm using up all my vacation time this week :( Disney Cruise Line just sent out an e-mail about reduced cost, short lead time cruises this week. SO tempting!!!

With as often as your family likes to go to WDW, you really should look into DVC. I think it is good value for the cost. Just wish I'd had enough $$ to buy directly without financing. I'm halfway through paying it off. Should be done before I plan to retire :). Then I will just have annual dues/maintenance fees. Looking forward to that!. You can also cruise on DVC points, but all the forums say that's not the best value for points.

Moo, don't you get bereavement leave for a FIL? I think that is pretty standard. Please check into that before using vacation time.

Marita - Yes, I can use some sick leave, but I don't have much since having my second knee replacement :( That's why I'm using some vacation time. Mari & David didn't make it as far as they would have liked tonight due to snow in Ohio, so they had to stop and get a hotel tonight. They probably won't make it for the first visitation tomorrow, but we'd rather have them get here safely! It's been a while since Mari had to drive in the snow.

I'm exhausted from cleaning my house most of the day, other than the time it took to go and get my hair colored. I was kicking myself that I didn't just get it done recently when I had my hair cut!!! I thought I could go another few weeks, but it just looked too faded and blah (since I always get semi-permanent color.

Not looking forward to visitation tomorrow. Mainly due to the open casket. It will be really hard for Don... I'm glad Mari will be here to support her dad.

Here we are allowed 3 days for immeditate family which includes parents and one day for like aunts , uncles etc. They are not called sick days.

I hope the bad weather holds off for you guys. I knew they are calling for snow here for the last few days but we haven't gotten any yet, so fingers crossed she makes it with no problems.

I am so sorry for your husbands dad passing..it is hard but so much so when they pass unexpectedly....Hugs to you all..

We are having some more of that dreaded white crap.. "have I told you lately that I hate winter" ROFL...

I always wonder why we always went to Disney the last two weeks of March and the we switched over to April and now we are April into May...we like it when it is hot and from what I have been seeing...Florida is not hot ..in fact we were about the same temp this morning...I hope Floridians warm up..(Marita)..

Our bathroom is coming along great...we had to change the tile out because the backsplash tile didnt match the new biscuit color...wish that they would keep beige as beige ..or whatever they want to call it...off white, ecru, sand, biscuit, light tan, lighter beige...geesh shaking my head..but they add a wee bit to it ..looks the same and then voila you get it home and it isnt...oh well...

hope your day is good and Moo...prayers for vistation and funeral tomorrow...and safe travels to your daughter:hug:

The kids made it in for the evening visitation. One of my close friends had brought us mac & cheese with pancetta and roast beef with noodles, so we had Don's brother's family, our nieces and nephew and my brother and sister to eat between visitations. We got through the funeral and dinner afterward yesterday, but were pretty exhausted last night and this morning. Sure are glad to have that behind us!

Back to work tomorrow :( after we see the kids off. Sure hope the weather is OK.

 Moo to bad your can't take the rest of the week off.

We have been in a deep freeze again. I think I prefer snow and that is saying a lot.

It is tough week here for Nicholas because Exams start on Friday and they give them assignments that are due just before to up marks but he is so far behind I'm really scared we are going to see summer school again this year. I do not know why he keeps everything to the end and then has to rush so it is not a good job. I feel like I don't push him enough or I do the pushing and hubby says it is what it is he can't do it for him even though yesterday he went though his note book and organized it for him to see really where he was at on assignments. Nicholas is 16 and should be able to do that for himself....especially if he wants to go away for more school he won't have us doing any pushing then.

Moo, glad the kids made it in ok and it's all behind you. This is never a fun day off

Nab, my DD, who is now a 5th grade teacher was complaining today, totally frustrated, that an assignment due date had been posted for weeks online, to the parents, to the kids, with multiple reminders, and the kids went "duh, I didn't know it was due last Friday???" Mind you, this is at a gifted school!

On the vacation front, looks like our Europe trip for this summer is out. Big scandals at DS's base, only 90 officers left out of 200+, the rest are under investigation for cheating, so he has to go back underground and is working crazy hours with no end in sight. You don't just replace 100+ nuclear officers overnight. So, way too risky to plan that big of a trip, tbd what we will do, something in the states, I guess.

morning everyone..
Below zero again...it has been one of the coldest winters that started early...November can be sometimes warm and warmer then what we got...teens in November and then smashed to below zero for nov, dec, and now January too.

Just got an AP discount on our room only for our upcoming trip...I am so ready to go someplace warm..or warmer...our friend lives in Palm Bay and he was saying it is a mite chilly ...in other words he has been cold..hahaha..

Now about the not doing assignments on time..I had one of those kids..WHO now is a teacher at a behavioral school...She would be reading a book and we would say...something and she said its for a book report...and when is it due..oh Tomorrow..ROFL...and what page are you on...that is a whole other answer...laugh about it now...But yes kids do this...sometimes like you are doing ..Organize things for him...but do it monthly with him right there doing it too...maybe that would show him how things go into place and order and things will be easier...hope so...

have a good day everyone

The kids made it home safely last night. Don and I both went back to work yesterday. I had training today, so it was a pretty easy day. Busy day tomorrow too.

It was -5 earlier tonight, but now it's 0. Brrr!!!

Moo-- Glad to here the kids got home safe. The Eastern provinces were really get hit with a snow storm up here the last few days.

Pumba-- good to know we still have hope. Nicholas has been like this since grade 5 and he is in grade 11 now. Everybody says a light bulb will click and he will get it but I am not holding my breath at this point.

We got our boxspring exchanged yesterday , had to wait all day for it to come but it is much better and almost at normal height now. The mattress is still pretty high. My flannel sheets fit but I'm doubting my others ones will.

Nab...do they have alternative help ..like after school to bring the grades up in any of the subjects that he needs to bring up..
At our local HS...they do this program so that they can graduate on time with the others...it is only a different path to get to the end results...like summer school...as long as the end goal is graduation..then they do it..

today is cold...but not C O L D....it is above zero...YIPPEE...7 ..usually when we get up in the morning it is with a minus sign too...they said one day of good temps and then whammo...down below temps again...
I hate winter but you guys already know that... ROFL..:lmao:

have a great day

Pumba-- they do have help but will he seek it out no. He is happy just to get by.

This has been one wild winter for weather. We are in middle of a snow storm. If it was a school day it would definitely be a snow day. Really bad drifting due to really strong winds. Don't remember having that kind of wind before. Shakes the car good just when sitting there and hard to drive in . I believe we are in for this all weekend too.

Guess I better get some of this done :laundy: Good day to do it since I'm in all day. Wish they would put something good on tv to watch on the weekends.

Snow day for us.

They say it has been the coldest winter we have had in 20 years. I believe it. Our highways are a mess. Pile up after pile up this weekend. Not sure why people don't stay home in this weather.

The exam schedule will be all messed up too.

With this wind I think we will blow away...:rotfl: That is what is making it so bad. The snow is blowing and making white out conditions.

Hubby went to work I'm staying put, I did yesterday too.

Hope everyone else is having better weather day!

-3 here in Michigan tonight! I am getting so sick of this cold weather!!! Lots of accidents on my way into work today. I'm so thankful to have a new all wheel drive vehicle. It handles SO much better in the snow :)

Hubby is doing better than I expected with respect to losing his dad. Still trying to figure out the estate stuff. Ugh! I am just trying to be supportive and lend a listening ear when needed. And have the requisite comfort food available, when needed ;)

Moo-- Glad to hear hubby is doing ok , I'm sure you being there to listen really helps.

I find snow tires are really helpful. We have been letting Nicholas drive to see how he would handle the snow. Hubby takes him to empty parking lots too and lets him go at it over the ice. I went once with them and never again. They thought it was fun , me not so much I kept thinking we are hitting the light post.

Have to send in all Hannah's paper work for High School today. Can't believe how much it is just to move over to another school. 11 sheets and then you now have to send it $25. for her locker and lock and student card. Crazy when we went to school we had a choice of buying the student card and never paid for a locker just the lock that we used every year after that. We have to pay this fee every year.

hello everyone.

Another cold day...HECK its been cold since November...I want to go for a walk but who wants to when we have snow storms and wind and below zero all the time...this morning 4 below when coffee was brewing...I will stay in ...

Yesterday went with my granddaughter for a fitting on her wedding gown...it is so beautiful ..makes me tear up..almost 25 years have gone by so fast...unreal..

Her mom can go to the next fitting and figure out how to do the bustle of her train ...so much to do in the next few months...besides getting my dress...having showers to attend ...DISNEY ...yes I need a down time..and we are going to Disney to escape the winter..(only it will almost be May)...can hardly wait...

Hope you are all well and time will heal the wounds ..

Pumba-- how exciting you have a wedding in the family. Something to warm up thinking about since the weather won't co operate.

It has been freezing here and don't even want to talk about the snow. This has been a hard winter. It is making up for the last few winters we had nothing. Can't wait for our spring break trip. Get me out of this cold.

Not doing much here but shoveling. :lmao: Excited to watch the winter games. Love the figure skating. We watched the opening ceremonies last night with all the countries coming in. Just beautiful and colourful some of them. The build up excitement, I sure hope security holds up, they is enough of them. I would be afraid to be there in Russia.

I agree...hope all the countries and Russia especially keep safe...scary...

Today is Sunday and I think we will stay in..still stinking cold out there...if it could just get in the high 30s I would go for a walk/jog...I have enough warm weather clothes..but who wants to freeze..NOT I...said me..hahahaha

Megara slipped on the ice yesterday ..she was a little gimpy so hubby gave her a tramadol...its her pain meds from her rehab...so one should do the trick..just enough to get her to not be in pain..

Maybe I should go and get a shower in and get dressed..but dont really want to...

have a good day everyone
:beach:

I think something is trying to work against me this week.

First we had Nicholas up to emergency last Saturday because he had chest pains. They said he has Pericarditis. That is an inflammation around the heart caused by a virus. But just to be sure we went to heart specialist this week to make sure that is what it really was and there were no other problems. He has to go for an echo ultrasound on Wed. They told him to take 3 Advil , 3 times a day until he didn't have the pain anymore. I was afraid for his kidney. The specialist yesterday took him off that and gave him other pain meds. but told us that it will increase his sugar levels. I can't win. This med also makes him hungry all the time we were told that too but to watch what he ate. So hopefully after this test it will all good. They just want to check because I have heart history on my side of the family. They said this virus can come back at anytime , no know cause for it.

Then today I had Hannah to the clinic because she had an allergic reaction to something but we don't know what. She is re as beet all over her back, stomach , neck and ears. The doctor really felt sorry for her. I have not changed anything in soaps etc. and she didn't eat anything funny. Doctor said we might never know what caused this either. So she's got heavy duty pills to take for 5 days. She too has to take 6 pills all at once , once a day. We went to the mall last night so I am wonder if she touched something or the shirt she tried on had perfume that didn't agree with her. :confused3

Need to get these kids better before our cruise.

Hannah has grad pictures on Wed too. Hope it is cleared up by then.
