St. Maarten...

This is where we got Hannah's hair braided. Everywhere was $2 a braid but we didn't like the first lady so we said no thank you and moved on. This lady asked if we had a budget and she would do it for $15. She did 23 braids and took awhile so I gave her $25. still a big bargin. And everyone that we passed said they did a great job on those braids. Some ladies made bigger braids or added alot of beads. Last time I paid $40.

Hannah said it hurts to be pretty....

Nicholas by the beach. The great thing about this beach is it is right there after you get off the water taxi. Water taxi cost $6 per person and you could use it all day. Which was good because we were in St. Maarten from 7:30 to 6:30. So you could go back for lunch if you wanted. We all waited but Nicholas. He thought it was cool that they had a McDonald's there so he had his lunch there while hubby used the free wifi. Plus it was nice to get out of the hot sun.

Crazy hot there. Streets are narrow between the shops but cars still drive down them , people walking down the middle with the cars. With every Caribean Island there are a lot of jewerly stores, table cloth stores and T-shirt places. But mostly jewelry ....how much can they possible sell one wonders because they were never that busy when we passed. We only went in for the free necklaces and charms.:lmao: The ship gives you coupons for these things in hopes that you will buy more.

Out of order but this is some of the shops near the beach. All the buidlings and picnic tables are all bright colours. Loved it. St. Maarten is also cheaper to buy stuff then it was in St. Thomas.

The Magic ! She is a beautiful ship. Very vintage.

More on the ship....

Mickey Pool....always busy durning the day. The teens had a party there one night. I think it was to Nicholas knees....:lmao: They were playing some ball game there and using the Mickey slide.

585.jpg

Our room steward was great...he always had the curtain closed at night to surprise us with the towel animals. This was my favourite. He did a big stingray with the blanket too. Had a monkey, elephant with our sunglasses on, snake , a snail that didn't look family friendly ...:lmao: I should try to find that one....
557.jpg

Hannah still loved seeing all the characters and princesses. Nicholas was too busy running around the boat with new friends and eating a ton of ice cream. He told me he gained 7 pounds. I gained 3.

553.jpg

We didn't take as many pictures this time of the inside of the ship since we have other times.

St. Thomas....

We took an island tour on this open truck taxi. It cost us $25/person to do this. This was not a Disney excursion so it scared me that we wouldn't make it back to the ship....but we had plenty of time. They drive on the other side of the road and use the horn a lot!!!

All the beaches in the Caribean are just beautiful with white sand and turqoise water.

We couldn't have asked for better weather either...no rain and temps. from high 70's to mid 80's and not a snowflake to be found.

oh Nab ..what beautiful photos.......

Just got back from doing groceries ......I hate to go and shop especially when it is freezing out....cause we had to lug out to the truck and then lug in the house.....and then put all of the stuff away...

We had meatloaf for supper, potatoes and brusell sprouts.....hubbies favorite....

there is this commercial on the nick station and it is a pamper commercial.......well Ava and I sing it all day.......DO THE ....POTTY DANCE.....omg it is stuck in my head now.....giving me a head ache....:rotfl:

so I put you all to bed last night and now I am up and you all should be too..

GOOD MORNING......

I'm up !

Just finished getting the kids moving and fed for school.

The sun is shinnig but I am sure it is cold out there. Sidewalks are getting pretty icy from being really cold at night and melting a bit in the afternoon. TV says it is -24 again.

Poor Hannah has a cold, I could hear her coughing all night. I am sure everyone will get it too. We are all still tired but actually got stuff done yesterday.

Well out the door we go......

Home today to take my hubby for vision correction surgery. Everything went great and it was fun being able to watch! I had my eyes done several years ago and it's the best thing I ever spent money on :)

Nabbie - I am loving seeing all your photos. Hannah's braids turned out really cute and I love the pic with Mickey and Minnie! So glad you had such nice weather during your trip! Did you go to Castaway Cay (sorry if I read over that part)?

Yes, the game-playing has definitely begun on BL!!! I was kind of shocked during this week's show that Arthur revealed that he had won the temptation. I couldn't believe how much chocolate he ate! I was happy that his team still came out on top and that all the women did so well - I thought that Q deserved to be the one voted off.

Castaway Cay was beautiful ...great weather too!

Hannah and her dad played in the sand and water....

I did this for long while....we all took turns though...and I shared it with others around it. There was a lady first thing in the morning put towels on all our that were there and started to walk away. Myself and another guy told her she had to share and can't just save them and walk away. She left her stuff on one hammock and never did come back all day. :confused3 Maybe she forgot were she left her stuff.

Some lady from our neck of the woods did this in the sand....she was a cake decorator. It was pretty cool. No rough edges anywhere. Her sister said she did her kids faces in the sand last time.

Nicholas and hubby finally got to parsail....they have tried to do this every trip but it gets canceled because of the wind. They had a blast.

Can't believe I was here last Friday and now am in the snow again...freezing.

They take all the food etc. off the boat and have two bbq type places to eat at , even have the soft ice cream machines on the island but you have to eat it pretty fast becasue it melted fast. We didn't go far on the family beach. We were across from bathrooms and food. The DJ was right there too. So we heard the music all day. For not liking the beach I did not mind it that day! Now coat on this time.

When we got back to the ship they had water and cool face clothes for you. The face cloth was great, got some the sand off and sunscreen from your face. This would be the last night on the ship so we tried to pack everything in. We saw more characters, Hannah did the pool on the ship again, had ice cream saw the show and stayed up way to late for our early breakfast the next morning.

Nabbie, that hammock looks SO relaxing!!! Thanks for sharing some of your CC photos :) That is one of the main reasons I want to go on a Disney cruise!!!

When we went on vacation last May at the Hilton Head DVC, Mari and her boyfriend spent most of their time touring the hammocks around the resort, LOL! They are coming up on the one year anniversary of their first date on Valentine's Day. I booked a couple nights for them at HH in early March to celebrate their "anniversary". I tried to book it using points, but they didn't have any availability, so I ended up getting a really good cash rate instead. I think all of the DVC resorts have separate inventories for points and cash reservations.

Hope they get some nice weather so they can relax in a hammock! But I think it is still pretty chilly down there. At least there are lots of great restaurants in the area or they may spend the day in Charleston.

we went to see our granddaughter up in OLD TOWN......she had some stuff here and we decided to surprise he and bring it to her in person........we took her out for dinner at Olive Garden....yes I love that salad and breadsticks....My favorite part..I did have chicken parmasan and it was delicious ...

So it took two hours to get there and then two hours home......we visited for a while and enjoyed our stay with her.....she is such a good kid and we love all our grandkids to pieces..

I missed you guys today too

Pumba - Glad you were able to visit with your granddaughter. I haven't eaten at Olive Garden for over a year! I actually drove by one while I was out and about today shopping for a Valentine's card, but that's not exactly the type of place you go to by yourself. I got Panda Express at the mall instead. Orange chicken. Had it for lunch AND dinner. Yum!

Hi, sorry for not posting for a couple of days.

Nab, those pics remind me so much of the Disney cruise we took a couple of years ago, thanks for posting them. I laid in a hammock too,
and read Twilight and enjoyed some cocktails :) Hannah's braids look so cute!

Pumba, great you got to spend time with the granddaughter. I have been informed that neither of my kids want any, GRRR! But I'm not giving up hope yet.

Chris called today, all upset, with good reason. He had worked on a paper due for his Masters class well in advance, and was planning on finishing it this weekend. And his computer broke! :scared1: Would not recognize his sign-in. He dropped it off to hopefully get fixed, else he will have to start all over. He called with a black cloud over his head, how he has the worst luck, etc... :headache: After unsucessfully suggesting alternatives, I finally just told him to have a beer and watch some TV. He said, yes, good idea, I might have 23, but not 24, cause that would be overdoing it!

Hubby took Nicole and me out tonight to dinner at Outback Steakhouse for Valentines day, we had a lovely early dinner at 4pm. (and he had a $25 gift certificate for it, YAY).
Still haven't gotten my nails done, I was really hoping to do that today, I am hating my naked nails, LOL. Plus I really need eyebrows done.

Monday morning at 9AM we have a property walk with the Director. Which is BAD, because neither Khaki nor I are morning people (she is worse than me, she lives 5 mins away and I live 45 mins away, and I still beat her in, normally by 9:10 or so, I am first). So anyway, it will be a scramble Monday morning to get the keys to the van for the tour and try to get old and new rooms to show at French Quarter. We have Riverside locked up, both the model room and a current Mansion room, but FQ is sold out, so we have to wait till Monday morning to get a room to show. See how this is getting tight timing????????

Oh, and Nicole went to the doctor finally, since she just got insurance. She has to be on a diet for a month, they are trying to figure out if her issues are thyroid or maybe ovarian cysts.:scared1: So anyway, she described it as a diabetic diet, or near so, but it sounded stricter to me than Pumbas.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Morning all,

Yesterday was just busy doing wash and cleaning my house up. Couldn't take the bathrooms anymore they were a wreck. Stuff on the counters from vacation , etc.

Marita-- I have never had my eyebrows done. It sounds painful. I am just not a girly girl i guess. Poor Chris hope everything works out for him. Those things your dd has are to totally different things. She would have different signs. Thyriod is a simple blood test. Is she going to a specialist. It is a different doctor it each of these things. The cysts are a gyn doctor and the thyroid is encrinlogist.( probably spelled that one wrong) This doctor too specializes in diabete I beleve. Pumba can probaby help out there.

Moo-- saw your hubby got eye thing done too. I would be too chicken, can't even get drops in my eyes. I'm sure I would love not wearing glasses though.

We off to church then the kids get to go bowling with the other alter servers today. They are looking forward to that.

nab...I had my cataracts done a few years back and I remember being scared to death......told the doctor that I would have to be OUT in order for him to do it and he said it will be better for you and BETTER FOR ME (meaning him) ...I was asleep and woke up and it was over....I loved that feeling...I have been doing eye drops for over 15 years for glaucoma....pain in the neck but a necessary thing to do ...I like seeing to much..

My diabetic diet is not really strict.......I can eat whatever is here.....but limit my carbs to thirty per meal and fifteen for my snacks...so lets say I am having a steak dinner.......because I LIKE MEAT.....I eat my fill ...believe me...one half of my plate would be veggies or salads......one quarter would be the carb stuff and the other is supposed to be the protein ...but I like steak so I over do my quarter of plate...I also needed to lose a wee bit of weight ....one book that you can get at the book store or on line even is ...The Calorie King...it is mostly for keeping track of carbs for diabetics...and it even has a section of the most popular restaurants....it is a good reference tool...even if I dont look as often as I should....a diabetic diet is almost the same as a ww consumption wise....different wording ...like the new weight watchers you can have fruits and not count them in your meal plan......but a diabetic has to count them because fruits have natural sugar and like a half of a banana or naval orange is equal to the snack credit I use..

have a good day my friends...

Well the kids are bowling and we went shopping. Not much left of Valentine Stuff out there. We did manage to get the kids a small heart heart shaped box of candy.

Got Hannah some candy hearts with sayings on them to take into school tomorrow. She is not doing Valentine cards this year and I know she really wanted to but kids just don't do them anymore. So I thought this way she could be happy giving out candy instead and they are peanut free. Hard to find peanut free candy.

Hubby asked if I wanted to go for supper tonight instead tomorrow night but I think a lot of people will think the same way and it will be darn busy.

Nab - Great pics! I love the one of Hannah and Mickey and Minnie all dressed up - she's growing up so fast!

Yes, I third or fourth the request for a girls cruise! With a Marita discount would be even better! :thumbsup2

I did not post any of hubby and Nicholas together just hubby in the family ones. Have tons of Nicholas with his dad but forgot to get some with just me and Nicholas. Of course it was becasue Nicholas just wanted to run after dinner not take pics.

We would have been more dressy for semi formal but Nicholas white shirt was too small for him on formal night so I didn't make him wear it again for semi formal. They also were suppose to be wearing a pink tie to match Hannah's dress. So I dressed to match the guys.

Sorry their so small but don't know how to get them bigger on Photobucket. I was set to this size a long time ago now I don't know how to change it.:confused3
