Moo - don't put me in the crock pot! It's hot in there! :lmao:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I guess that must be why I forgot to add the celery, Miss "I ate at Emeril's" tonight!!! Are you going to have some beignets while you're in NOLA or is that too much sugar/carbs?

Nabbie - You should definitely try cooking a pot roast in the crock pot. I just put some kosher salt and cracked pepper on both sides and added carrots, a couple onions, some potatoes that were cut in half, and about a cup of beef broth and cooked it on low heat for 8 hours. If I'd been at home, I would've waited to add the potatoes until about half-way through, but the carrots came out great! Normally I would have remembered to add a little celery. I'm going to make some gravy to have with the leftovers, but there was quite a bit of fat that I need to skim off before I do that.

mama cel wants me to bring her back some pralines - so I might have to taste test a bunch around the city!
not sure if I'll get beignets or not.
I could probably handle one or two.

Well, enjoy the rest of your visit, Cel! Hope the weather there is decent. I'm getting SO tired of winter.

Twinkie, thanks for the update, you made me tired!

Moo, I don't even own a crock pot, I doubt I would ever used it, but I thought about it. I love my pressure cooker, stew meat ready in 15 minutes. That said, I had hot dogs for dinner, LOL

Yay for Mari finding a guy, I wish my DS would. He is 30, good job, a nice house and car. Just needs a wife  I am starting to think I will never have grandkids

Cel, did you get lost at all? How does one lose a GPS anyway?

Speaking of getting lost, didnt exactly get lost today, but I think first time ever I forgot to change lanes to NOT be in the exit only lane, and ended up with a 10 min delay sitting at stoplights this morning to get back on I-4. Then for the 3rd day in a row, there was not a parking space to be found at the Cont except for in east Egypt!

I'm tired tonight!

Hello everyone! I know I haven't posted on your guys' thread for a long time - I hope everyone is well.

I am dropping buy to let everyone know that my DW's cousin has gone missing. I have started a thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2403470) for her.

I am asking if you would please vist the thread and if you have a Facebook account to please share one of the stories regarding Marion McCleneghan.

Thanks so much!

Twinkie - I can always make time for sling making. Just PM me. :o) Hurry though my PM box is 91% full. lol.

Moo - A crowing rooster shouldn't be an issue. They are out of the house by 7:30 every morning. Plus all winter we have had to deal with their constant bonfires which blow thick black smoke into our yard and house for hours. It's payback time. ;o)

Had to take the little boys to the dentist today, a medicaid dentist. Ick. I think I caught something just being there. We waiting for 2 hours. The good news is the big boys have their appointments tomorrow AND the little boys have to go back in March for cleanings and cavity repair. I just can't wait to spend so much time there in the coming months.

CY-- Hope she is found safe and sound, it must be hard on the family. Prayers to you and your families.

Mommy P--I like how you call the boys , big ones and little ones. They are all still little to me. You need to get a new picture in you siggy with all the kids.

Dentist are never fun....unless they are cute ! It is pretty bad when my dentist knows me by name when I see him other then the office. :lmao: I swear I have more silver in my mouth then teeth. My mom only took me to the dentist if we had a tooth ache because we didn't have insurance then. There was six kids . Then when I was old enough and had insurance I got my teeth fixed. Had on huge bottom tooth pulled because I was afraid of a root canal. Something I wish I didn't do now but people scared me about them. :sad2:

cyjmhill - Sending prayers for her safe return :grouphug:

Marita - I saw this in Deb Wills' newsletter: The Wave restaurant at Disney's Contemporary Resort has added a tagline its name. It is now formally called: The Wave... of American Flavors.

Maybe that can be part of your chef's theme for the demo?

I think you might like using a crock pot because you can turn it on in the morning and come home to ready-made dinner and you don't have to figure out what to make after work when you're tired. I'm definitely going to try some other things in it. The only downside is that I tend to get tired of whatever I've made pretty fast these days because I can't eat very much. So I either share with friends at work or put some in the freezer.

MommyP - We have an obnoxious neighbor whose trashburning or woodburning smoke ALWAYS blows toward our property. Fortunately, he hasn't been burning trash lately, but he heats with wood and the smoke really makes my asthma worse. Grrr.

Nabbie - My hubby told me that a root canal was no big deal, so I went into having one with that in mind. But it was kind of a long process. Having a crown put on was much more of a pain in my opinion. Hope I never need another one.

Moo, thanks for that update about the Wave, I knew it was in the works.
It will be part of the talk by my work partner as part of the strategy to increase counts

I doubt I will ever use a crock pot,it sounds good, but the only time I cook is on the weekends, cause hubby is in bed by the time I get home and I dont feel like making dinner when I get home.

Nab, I had a root canal once, didnt hurt at all, but what got me was that plastic thing they put in your mouth to catch whatever, it made me gag.

Speaking of dentist, I had to reschedule from Feb 1st, so this was first time I could get. So instead of driving 50 minutes to work, turn around 1:45 later and drive 45 minutes back toward my house, I am going to work from home in the morning, w00t!

CY, prayers for safe return of your wife's cousin.

Well we got another dusting of snow over night that is melting as we speak . No shoveling required.

Did I tell you Nicholas got detention for the week? Well yesterday he got two pink slips for thowing snowballs. One before school and one after school on school grounds. So now he gets to see the principal again today to see if his detention will be longer or he will get suspended. :sad2:

I just got a call from him saying he left his binder at home. It has all his subjects in one binder I think. I knew he did not leave it at home. Heck he never takes anything out to study. Which brings us to another problem he had two tests this week. Said he the teacher was mad because everyone did bad. Well didn't know about them didn't see him study either. He is not having a good day....all of this could have been avoided. I am stressed out because I think I should be on him more. My sister says I can't babysit him he is grade 7 now , his problem. I swear I am not going to make though these teen years. Even hubby is really mad at him for doing all this stuff and he never gets mad.

Needless to say I am not having a good morning. I am taking on his problems as being a bad parent.

I would still push him in the middle school level ....but when he gets to the high school level......tell him he is on his own.....some kids are natural when it comes to school work and others dont give a rip.....Some kids need an alternative education plan....all kids are so different so DONT go beating yourself up over it....

I am in my housecoat still....maybe I will go for a walk outdoors and get some air.....I am not going to go to the Mall walking with my niece cause she was coughing germs at me yesterday......I dont want to get whatever she wants to share with me..

I had two pedometers going yesterday and neither did a good job.....I know we walked almost two miles but one showed four and the other one had to be reset......I even had hubby change the batteries in one....so we shall see.....he did go and use the truck meter to see how far I thought i went last week.
SO I have to go into the celler.....weigh myself and then take the turkey out of the freezer......PUSH ME FELLOW MOOVERS

Can't believe how late I am staying up these nights. We were at the church tonight for Nicholas confirmation this spring , all the guys were saying hurry the hockey game is already on. We missed the first period. Surprised there was no accidents in the parking lot.

Canada is doing so well tonight. Watched the hockey game and I usually don't watch that, and the ladies won gold and silver in the bobsled.

What am I going to so when the Olympics are over. :lmao:

I spent an hour tonight (late) wondering why my rate/volume calculation didn't tie to the total variance. I checked, I double checked, I triple checked. Checked additions on a seperate tab. It all was fine. So I decided to take a break and went back 30 minutes later and saw that I looked at the column right above which was prior year variance vs. 1 column over which was the plan variance I needed to tie to. So all that time wasted, it was right all along!
I think I will have a few Girl Scout Thin Mints now!!!

My cookies dont come until the second week of March....I can have one cookie once in a while....wonder if I an do that....I had two nieces selling ...so I bought three from one and then found out the second niece was selling so I bought two more from her....Hubby likes the peanut butter sandwich ones...we used to call them do-si-dos.......oh well....they like to confuse us ol' folks.

It has been raining since yesterday and it is supposed to rain today and then slow down into tomorrow and into Saturday and Sunday...and then maybe snow or rain into Tuesday.....we have flood warnings up .....can you believe that.....one place that is near us for skiing and snowboarding was going to have a snowfest this weekend.....I think not...

hope you all have a great day and prayers that they find your wifes cousin..

Hi Moovers, remember me? In case you forgot, I'm Allie! :wave2: :rotfl:

I am ready for February to be over!!! It just hasn't been a good month. It started off with the middle school shooting, then a week later, we had the university shooting, a week after that another middle schooler was arrested for having a knife at school, and now found out that the dad of a dear friend passed away today, and his visitation is tomorrow in my hometown. :sad2: I've started dreading Friday's because it has literally been something every Friday in February.

This dear friend is that father of a girl I went to high school with, and he shares my son's birthday, which is next Tuesday. They were 50 years apart. :goodvibes We invited him to DS 1st birthday party and celebrated both their birthdays. His wife had my wedding shower at her house. I had her daughter's first baby shower at my house. You get the picture.

Well, DS is having friends over tomorrow night to play XBOX and have cake for his birthday celebration. DH told me that he could manage the party, and that I should go. So, I called my boss and asked for tomorrow off, and she said yes, so in the morning, I will put the icing on DS cake, and then drive over the river and through the woods to mom and dad's and go to the visitation and then the funeral on Saturday, then come back home.

Oh, and I have another question for you smart and crafty Moovers. ;) Our youth group is putting on their annual banquet for the "Forever Young" group at church next Saturday. The theme is Peter Pan. What kind of menu would you serve with that? We usually do a full meal for them.

Also, we have the kids dress up. Would you focus on one set of characters, or cover everyone? We need to keep the KISS method. (Keep it simple stupid):rolleyes1 Because we have ONE WEEK to pull this off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will be able to check in while at my parents, hopefully. ;)

Nabbie - Sorry to hear that Nicholas has been testing you so much lately :sad2: Hope he gets beyond that phase quickly  I wish I'd been able to see more of the Olympics. I haven't felt like holing up in my room to watch though. Looking forward to Biggest Loser returning.

Pumba - I thought of you and your niece today when I received my Hungry Girl newsletter. It talked about how people overestimate portion sizes and one of the examples was cereal. You should sign up for that newsletter. It has LOTS of tips for eating healthier.

I have managed to avoid the GS cookies so far. I don't think the local troops were selling any reduced calorie cookies this year anyway. I liked the lemon ones last year.

Allie - So sorry to hear about all that :grouphug: I don't know all that much about Peter Pan other than the characters that they have at WDW. Maybe you could focus on those characters? How about Peter Pan PB&J sandwiches? Or are there too many allergies to worry about??! You could sprinkle some "pixie dust" on cookies or ice cream sundaes . . .

Marita - You work way too much while you're at home!!! ;)

Thanks Moo I hope we get over this soon too but I am sure it will only get worse first.

I knew about the cereal being tricky. But then if you get a good healthy cereal I think wow the calories are so high. I can't wait until Biggest Loser comes back on. Isn't the black team from Michigan? Hope the dad stays.

We don't sell our cookies until the spring. Then it will only be the chocolate/vanilla mixed pack. We always do the mint ones in the fall.

They say we are in for a snow storm over night.

Allie -- I was thinking Peter Pan Peanut butter too and they don't even sell that here. I just know it by the commercials .:lmao:

Hi all, watching skating now too.

Moo, what working too much, I only have 43 hours in for 4 work days even with taking 3 hours off for the dentist :rotfl:

I was up till 1am last night and dragging tonight, but i think I finally woke up for the last 6 skaters (which will probably keep me up too late again). I'll try to at least get out of the office an hour early tomorrow.
I managed to eat 1/2 a sleeve of thin mints in the office tonight. Good thing hubby bought some too...

My boss blew off my 1:1 with me again today, makes 3 for 3! :sad2: Haven't had a single meeting with him since I started.

Nab, sorry for your troubles with Nicholas

I've never gotten into biggest loser, I can't keep my concentration on TV for long, LOL

Allie, that is a lot of bad things to happen in a few short weeks. But they say bad things come in 3's, so hopefully that was it for a while.

Yes, Nab - The black team is from Ann Arbor. It should be interesting to see who stays. I'm afraid his knees couldn't withstand the pressure of that squatting. But on the other hand the mom's torch was at a weird angle.

Marita - That's surprising that you haven't had a 1:1 yet! I talk with my bosses several times a week. I may have to bum a GS cookie or two from a friend next week . . .

NABBIE - Middle school boys are the worst! I can say that from experience. Although, now having one that is a Junior in high school, I can say it does get better. 7th and 8th grades - I thought I was going to kill him at any moment, and he's a relatively good kid. Mine has ISS (in school suspension) during his finals during his 7th grade year, so I can sympathize with you.

Thanks for the peanut butter tips, but I don't think our 50+ year olds would enjoy PB & J sandwiches for their dinner. We usually serve a salad, then a main dish with several side dishes, and then a dessert. Although, I like the idea of sprinkles (pixie dust). We could probably incorporate that!

Any more ideas would be appreciated. :upsidedow
