well ladies we are in for 20 or so inches of the dreaded white stuff...Lynette will be getting hit too I believe.....so anyone in the path of this storm whether it is rain or sleet or ice or snow......be careful everyone

Yup, Pumba. So far today, we've gotten about 6.5 inches (this is on top of the 57 inches we already have on the ground). The weather wench is forecasting another 16-20 inches for us by tomorrow night. My town decided to close the schools early today, so Boris and Natasha got out at noon.
My driveway has 7+ ft. piles of snow on either side, and the snow is piled so high in parts of my back yard that I can't see anything out my breakfast nook window. The chairs for one of my patio sets are completely covered in snow....can't even tell where they are at this point. I hate winter!

Marita, that's a mighty high airfare! Does Southwest fly to that area? Maybe you can snag a DING fare? It pains me to pay full price for airfares....it's like legalized theft!

Moo, it's good that you and your coworkers were able to attend the service for your friend who passed. It can be very life-affirming to see the impact that someone else has had on the people around them. Hope it helps you.:hug:

Cel, YAY for a new ticker!:banana: I'm officially jealous! But it's good to see you around here again!

Mony, congrats on Matt's Confirmation! I will forgive your snow excitement, but just this once, 'kay? ;)

BBN,

Thanks, Lynette - I definitely think it was helpful for me to go to the service. We have staff who are working with his wife to try to figure out all the paperwork and other staff who are packing up his office. I didn't volunteer for any of those things, but will probably help out with Earth Day this spring as a way of remembering him.

Well, the snow has arrived. Not as much as Lynette (so far), but I'm not sure how fast it'll be piling up. It was pretty hard to see the road on my way home from work with all that wind because the snow is so fine and blowable. The back roads and our driveway are already getting significant drifts. Glad I stopped at the store to pick up a few things. Had to have some emergency chocolate! I will probably telecommute tomorrow (unless they close our office). Lots of schools and other places have already announced closures this afternoon and evening.

Our schools have already cancelled for tomorrow too......this if very very strange...only other time they did this was for the big ice storm of 98......

we had about 4 or 5 today and tomorrow will be a different story.......we have no place to put the snow.......the city sort of frowns on us putting it out in the street or on the sidewalks in front of our houses.......we have two driveways and a big back yard but hard to put the snow in the back yard.........then hubby has to go around the back yard to make a running area for the dear dog...

MAYBE my turkey will be ready to cook tomorrow.....all I would need is some more bread to make stuffing......cause I have to stuff the sucker ....YUMMY

Well, once again, Michigan weather casters bite the big one. I have maybe 3 inches of snow outside. I shoveled the first inch last night.

Everything closed last night in anticipation for snow fall of epic amounts!

Waiting to see if any daycare children show up. Only two families said no. Just texted the other two...........geesh!

My University even closed last night for today.

Tim's boss drove from chicago yesterday to detroit (:sad2:) to check in on everyone. Making them come to work this morning. Even though we did not get the amount predicted, what was this woman thinking? Seriously? Some areas did get 10 inches of snow.

Maddy sounds croupy, wonderful! Her eyes look sick, joy!

OY OY OY.
ITs snowing hard.......I know how does snow fall hard........okey its snowing ALOT.......cant see across the street it is doing a good job.

I am sitting here in my housecoat happy as a little piggy (pumba that is) and may not do much......have to see if that turkey is still frozen...put it on the top shelf in the fridge and I think it is not to thawed out......will check it and hope it is good to go.

Remember those who are in bad areas of the country to check on your neighbors and elderly people....

The weather reports are saying that we got 10-11 inches in this part of the state last night, but there was so much blowing out by me it doesn't really look like we got that much. Hubby said he didn't think my car would make it down the side road this morning so I decided I'm staying put today! Checking my work e-mail off and on, but mostly just taking a vacation day.

the turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed taters, carrots were pretty darn good.....I loved every bite of it.....YUMMY....no cranberry sauce which I love ...but it was still a darn good meal.
Hubby got home a little after twelve ...they let them out because it was so bad traveling......you could not see in front of you on the highway even..he said ..

So whats up with the rest of you...is it warm anywheres.......:confused3

That sounds delish, Pumba!

I made chicken tortilla soup for dinner using a recipe from the Pioneer Woman's website. Not something that hubby will eat, but I thought it turned out great! Just had a slight faux pas in that right after stirring in the tomato paste I realized it had Italian spices in it. I hate when things like that happen!

So I drained out all the liquids and added more chicken broth, a can of tomato sauce (since I didn't have any plain tomato paste), Mexican spices, and a can of green chilies and that was enough to eliminate the flavor of the Italian spices.

I liked the Pioneer Woman's way of seasoning up chicken breasts for this recipe by drizzling them with olive oil and sprinkling on a mixture of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and salt before baking them in the oven. Yum! Good enough to eat as an entree.

I ran to the store to pick up some of the ingredients for the soup - it was a little slippery out there, but the roads had mostly been plowed. Back to work tomorrow :(

Glad to hear you all seemed to have survided the weather so far.
I saw a pic on the news today of a car standing on its hood, wow!
Speakin of cars, boss' daughter (17) rear ended a car yesterday. A car from her grandma, little old lady who only drove it on Sundays. It had 39,000 miles on, 12 years old but perfect condition. She rammed it into the back of an SUV, TOTALLED! Guess that is a lesson for a teen....

Had another fun day here with forecast, fist it was lahdidah yesterday, going slow, then they discovered they (HQ) didnt send out a file we were supposed to tie to at the last minute, so panic ensued. Did I mention I hate forecasts???

I might be sick tomorrow, cough, cogh!

Marita - I also saw that photo of the car standing on its hood. Freaky!

Too bad about your boss' daughter's accident. Hope she wasn't injured. That is a tough lesson for a teen.

I am hoping the extra rest today will finally put an end to this bronchitis :goodvibes

Hope Nabbie and family are having a great vacation and are staying healthy! pixiedust:

shhhhhhhhhh be very very quiet.....the sun is out and I sure dont want to scare it back in....

We got a POOP load of the white stuff.....to darn much....another four to eight inches for Saturday and NOW they are saying another storm for next Tuesday....wish they would stop predicting these....maybe they would go away..

ava just arrived and is changing her clothes.....she does this maybe five times during the day...she loves to put on and take off clothes....typical two year old...

Have a good morning my friends

Pumba - We had lots of sunshine here today too! Sorry about your new load of white stuff. Hope the next couple storms skip you!!!

Work wasn't too bad today because I had several meetings. I think it was my first full day in over a week because I used quite a bit of sick and vacation time to get over my bronchitis. Still coughing a touch, but am feeling so much better :goodvibes

Hi all,

Well, I took a sick day today, cause I actually DID wake up with a headache. Maybe it was wishful thinking?

Dont ask me what I did with my day off, I don't know. Read some work emails I didnt respond to, made a shopping list I didnt go to the store for...
Only real things I did was to drive to Burger King for a Whopper Jr. and fries and empty the dishwasher and take a nap. The rest of the day just went poof!!!!!!!!!!!

Too bad tomorrow is another work day :headache:

Marita.
IF you took a day off and did absolutely nothing......GOOD FOR YOU....some days we just need to veg....I like MC D's burgers better then BK burgers. I like those itty bitty onions on Mc D's...YUMMY but they are out for a little while....

Another slow day here!

I worked a full day and went to my workout with a couple friends from work this evening. Whew! I felt like such a wimp after missing my workouts the last few weeks due to being sick

Afterward, I went to my friends' house (they are married and work together) for dinner and a little wine. It was really nice catching up outside of the office. We are all still feeling a bit off kilter after recently losing our two coworkers, but it was helpful to talk about that too.

Well, TGIF is all I have to say!

Out wonderful directors has blinders on. He isn;t get a grip on reality! Huge screwup in the budget this year, but we cant adjust the forecast cause of corporate directives. Hello, we still need to buy sop and toilet paper??????????? I dont think guests would take well to running out...
:headache:

Other than that, managed to get out for a pizza lunch, but stayed all the way till 5. And forgot to pick up refill for my bloodpressure pills, but hopefully just skipping Sunday and Monday wont result in a stroke...

Glad yur feeeing better Moo, and had some company.

TGIF, I hope I can sleep in tomorrow for a change, ive been waking up early on weekens

HOLY SMOKES MARITA>.
Maybe I had better bring our own soap (hahah we usually do) and toilet paper would be pretty funny on the plane...ROFL...seriously, I know it must be tough in the times we have now......everything is going up in price and budget cuts have to be made somewheres...BUT NOT TP>.>.. ;)

The sun is out and our neighbors said we could borrow their snowblower again...Ours is still in the shop....THEY are good to us as we were to them....We always snowblowed their area when they were out of town and coming home ...not being able to get into a driveway is hard.....we need to get rid of the two feet of snow that brian took off the roof yesterday......he was to tired to move it last night...

The neighbors are on their way to the Boston Bruin's hockey game today...it was their rug rats Christmas gift. SNow is scheduled to start tonight I think....I KEEP HOPING THAT IT GOES OUT TO SEA>...hurry everyone BLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Hope that snow bypasses you, Pumba! Glad you could borrow the snowblower. Glad our roads are clear around here. Most of the snow we got didn't stick to our roof, it was so darn windy :thumbsup2

I ran some errands this afternoon (oil change, car wash, a bit of shopping) and have mostly been relaxing at home and reading once I got back from running the roads. Will do a bit of cooking tomorrow, I think. Maybe some meatloaf.

Marita - Your newish job still sounds pretty stressful! Hope you're relaxing with a glass of wine tonight!!!

I'm back!!!

Holy moly the snow we got while away! We have great neigbours that shoveled it so the driveway was clear , well kind of clean since it was snowing like crazy last night.

What should have took us almost 3 hours to get home took almost 6. Lots of cars spinning out etc so long slow drive home. Probably left nail marks in the front dash a few times.....:scared1: Some really crazy drivers out for the weather.

Well I would still be in bed but Nicholas has his job at the church this morning and now they both have to serve at 11:00 mass so better get going...

Be back later....

welcome home Nab..
WE MISSED YOU....to bad you had to come and see that dreaded white stuff that landed in our area.........We had it all last night.....snow, heavy snow and then sleet and then rain and then a thunder boomer......our doggie was hysterical and next storm she gets a pill right off the bat.
glad that you made it safely home......that is always a worry to me too......close my eyes and hold on for dear life..

Sun is out and the slush in the yard is just from the recent snow...nothing is gone from the back yard or anything.....

I had to talk to our neighbors nicely because her son in law came and shoveled off her roof and it all went in the back yard where hubby made a path for the dog to go potty.....HUBBY was not impressed......They have hardly any land but its not fair to have brian go out and do more
