I was thinking of taking my DD today, but it is snowing way to much and it is sticking to the road. :( And I can't take her tomorrow because I NEED to watch the Giants WIN!!!! And DW is way too busy with homework.

Enjoy the show!!!

Cy

I'll swing by and pick her up...

Slightly panicked: bought some Hannah Montana buttons and hair thingies and can't find them! AAAACK! I know I hid them from Norah because they were a surprise, but for the life of me, I can't find them. NO I'm not one of those people with clutter from floor to ceiling occupying every square inch of her home so they can never find anything, but I must've hid them really well.

Think think think...

PumbaMarie- It cracks me up about Megara and the rolaid. If I didn't know better, I would think she was one of my kids.

."life with kids"....makes..every..day...
exciting.....any hooters_ r -u- awake??? twinklemama????

or..are we going...to dooooo "pillow talk " ? {person -2-person favorite}
Yes~ the funny thing is I was awake (but not online) while you were posting. My baby decided NOT to sleep through the night last night. Probably because I stayed up late. He is on to me. So I was enjoying pillow talk (please, please go back to sleep!) with one of my favorite guys.

Since we're declaring, for the record, I am not a girlie girl either!! :upsidedow

-- Rob
What? RobIn isn't a girlie girl? who knew?:confused3

AND, you are always welcome to have dinner here. I'll make you something from my culture like funeral potatoes (called scalloped potatoes in all 49 other states) and a fancy mormon jello salad. And some kind of meat.

But is it made with real mormons? Heh. Almost funny but not quite. When I lived in Utah I was almost on the Bear Grylls diet. No berries or bugs but I basically lived on poptarts, 3 musketeers bars, root beer and rice. My boss came out with us one weekend and you should have seen the way he "roughed it" thanks to his wife's cooking. Only a nice Mormon girl from Southern Utah sends her husband camping with 6 course meals and homemade cinnamon rolls.
The girls WILL be dressed up, by the way. Glitter will be included.

Duh. Of COURSE glitter will be included.

Wendy! HAHHAHAHAHA! :rotfl: Isn't that Mike Meyers from that SNL sketch? That was hilarious!

I see that Bonnie hangs out here - Hi Bonnie!!!! Hope your trip is GREAT!!!

Cy

Hi Cy! :wave2: How are you?

Pumba, thanks for the tip.

Beef Stew: the saga continues yet again............

So before I left for the store, I got this brilliant idea  to make sure I have the pressure cooker, since DS rearranged all the kitchen cabinets some months ago for extra money (and in the process threw out some things, including my very first pot I bought when I got married, white with red flowers and a red lid. I loved that pot :lovestruc. So it had a few chips. :confused3 By the time he told me, it was already in trash, and I did NOT dig it out. I guess 37 years of service was enough, and it deserved to go into retirement). Sorry, I got sidetracked............ Anyway...........

Sure enough, no pressure cooker to be found. Luckily they had one at the local Winn Dixie at the corner. But now I have to wash it, attach the handle, oil the seal, read the instructions, etc. And I still haven't starting slicing and dicing anything.

It is safe to say there will NOT be any nails and eyebrows for me today.
There may or may not be beef stew for dinner ... :sad2:
I hope your beef stew is worth all the hassles, lady! I think I need to try it. Slop me, baby!

Whaddya mean no nails or eyebrows??

I'm just back from my pedi and wax and lunch with a friend. I have a 4:00 appt for my acrylics and my lash tinting. Whew! Busy day! it takes a lot of effort to get ready for WDW!

Where the heck is my pal MO? :flower3: Mo, I have lost 20 pounds, girl! I'm taking some time off the diet for my WDW trip, then I am starting Atkins up again. I am too hungry on a low calorie diet! :guilty: How are you doing on yours?

Wendy, I LOVE funeral potatoes! They are my FAVORITE!!

Uma, woohoo on the girl's night out! Hope you find the stash!

Bonnie, nails and eyebrows are not going to happen today, due to the beef stew challenge....

Speaking of which:

Part V:

So I bought the new pressure cooker from Winn-Dixie. Which is NOT one of my favorite stores, but it was close for milk and bisquick, so I picked one up.

I look at the contents. Hmmm, no rubber seal for the lid :confused3 So I read the instructions. Remove seal from the handle. So I inspect handles for hidden seals. Nope, nothing there.............. Check the box and any nook and cranny - no seal for the lid.............

Before the box inspection, I cut up the stew where needed and rolled it in flower, so is ready to go.

So now i dont know what to do. I dont feel like going back to the store now.
May make it in a regular pot that takes 3 hours:scared1:

Or just wait till DH and DS get back from the movie, and then see.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Lil G. What a GREAT day. Ahhhh. Don't I feel better? Let's just say gambling and kid's sports were only partially responsible. Proposition sheet did not make it to me. However, I am definitely betting on heads tomorrow. While you are watching the game please think heads on the coin flip. If you are correct Wheat Thins will be VERY happy. You might also secretly hope that the Giants don't lose by more than 13 points.

Wheat Thins

Guess who's going to see Hannah Montana in 3 hours?

ME!

ok, so it's the concert movie in 3-D...

But it's girlfriend time I don't often get! Me, Misty and our sewing friend Jhammie are taking our girls to the Mayan restaurant first. It's COOL! It has cliff divers and everything! Can't wait!

It'll be cute watching Norah think she's a BIG girl since the other girls are much older.

The girls WILL be dressed up, by the way. Glitter will be included.

I'll take pictures, of course, and inflict them on yous. YOUR WELCOME.

So are we , Wendy. 7:30pm tickets. I think we plan to show up before 6:30.

I'm secretly hoping the Patriots lose. (Do we care by how many points?) Mostly because I'm not a fan of Tom Brady....not because he's gorgeous but because he knows it. How's that for rationale?

Here's my reuben dip that I'm taking to my friend's party...

8 oz. corned beef, chopped
8 oz. shredded cheddar
8 oz. shredded swiss
1 cup mayo
1 can sauerkraut, drained

Mix and put in a 13 x 9 pan and bake at 350ish til bubbly. Serve with party rye. Delicious!

You're welcome.

Marita you just HAVE to make Beef Stew - I dont use a pressure cooker - I brown the beef in the cast iron dutch oven - then I add juice and some carrots and onions - and let that cook or bake low for a couple of hours then I add more veggies, more juice if it needs it (double strength campbells beef stock) cook for another hour - empty the juice to make a gravy, add the gravy back in - then add the dumplings -

I've always been afraid of the pressure cooker since when my grandma made some blueberry jam - and it exploded!~! what a mess!!

WENDY hope you found the HM goodies!! Best of both worlds... cant wait for the mini trip report!!

I did 2.5 MILES on the Treadmill, then 30 min of floor exercises... I dont think fdil is trying to kill me, but she's making me go for 3 miles next Saturday!! :faint:

Lexi - I thought the Brady dude was a Pat?

I thought it was Eli Manning for the Giants? :confused3

I miss THE BEARS!!!

Hope you all love the Pepsi ad -

So right, Sandy! I knew that! Changed my post.

My DH's friend is a huge Patriots fan so he always invites us over to watch them play. Just don't know about that Tom Brady.

Sorry, Lynette.

I love a pressure cooker but use it for my beans.......you put your beans in a pot over night in water.......then the next day when you are ready....empty the water and rinse the beans........add enough water to just barely cover them and add one onion cut in half or quarters.....some sweet and hot sausage ...like the kind we are putting in our spaghetti sauce....then some dry mustard and molasses......now cook and it should be ready in an hour.....this stuff is so good ya think someone cooked it in a bean hole pot for hours and hours...delicious.

the new ones dont explode like the old days......they have a pressure release valve on it and it is so easy to do now..everyone go and get one but remember to get a stainless steel one....cost a little more but will last forever ........well almost forever......:cutie:

Pumba - unless Marita's dd is in a cleaning mode!!

Thanks for the info - Alton Brown did a show on pressure cooker - but I am afraid!!

I have great grandma's cast iron dutch oven - you can cook on it on the stove, and throw it in the oven - it gets roasts down very fast on the stove!!

Evening, everyone!

Major bum-laying day going on here today. I've tried my darnedest NOT to do anything productive :lmao: So far I've read half a book, watched a movie (Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow - great movie), snuggled with the puppies, napped, and eaten crap all day. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!

Wendy, I lof this!!!

imaginary_friends.jpg

Have a great time with the girls tonight.

Lynette, how'd girlapalooza go??!

Bon, sounds like you're toadily beautified! Pictures, please!

Twink and Lil G, hope you're not up into the wee hours tonight.

Nabbie, we had a bit of a warm-up today. Maybe your snow won't last too long.

Hi everyone! Sheesh, you people talk a lot, eh? Took me quite a while to get caught up.

Girlapalooza was FABULOUS (as Sharpay would say)!!! We had dinner, did some shopping, painted our nails, watched HSM2 (again!) in our pajamas while snuggled under a blanket on the couch. DH did lots of eye-rolling at our ritualistic girly-ness. Feh. He grew up with no sisters, so he doesn't get the girly thing.

This morning, DD woke up and went into Boris' room looking for him. Oops! When she remembered that he had slept at his friend's house, she burst into tears because she missed him soooo much! She's been all over him like holy on the Pope since he got home. :rotfl:

Tonight, they are sleeping in their tent in the playroom. Which means I am relegated to sleeping on the couch tonight in order to be close by.

What's everyone else up to tonight?

Hi Gang. 'Sup?

Wendy: have fun with the gals at Hannah Montana. Julia loves it when I sing "Best of Both Worlds" or "Everybody Makes Mistakes" really loud in the grocery store. She thinks it's REALLY cool.:rolleyes1

Cy: Caleb had a nice bday. Thanks. He is actually going to have some of his buddies spend the night, but they couldn't do it this weekend. So, his "party" will be later this month.

Bonnie: Have fun on your WDW meet. Tell Lisa to behave herself.;)

LilG: Do you like country cookin? We always have room for an extra person at supper.

Lex: As a Colts (and Manning) fan, I would NEVER, EVER, EVER hope the Patriots lose. And if you believe that, I've got some ocean front property in Arizona. (PJ: who sang that?)

WT: Glad you had a GREAT day. When you were talking about a coin toss, it reminded me of that game called "Quarters". Have you ever heard of it?

Twinkster: Here's hoping for a restful night. Although, some great memories are made when cuddling a baby in the middle of the night, aren't they?

Moo: A lil bum laying never hurt anybody.

ETA: HI L! Glad girl night went well!

Everybody else: All this talk of food is making me hungry. Surprised?

Later!

For the record...my birthday was last Saturday. Jan. 26th.

Celery and WT: Well, as long as he doesn't act cocky....it'd probably go over like any other dismeet. Probably be a lot of sexual tension...but hey...what do I know.

As for tonight plans: just watch some scary movies...maybe work on a draft...who knows...I may not do much of anything.

NAB, Sorry about all the snow. Just keep it up there though.

Please and thank you.

Hi Gang. 'Sup?

Twinkster: Here's hoping for a restful night. Although, some great memories are made when cuddling a baby in the middle of the night, aren't they?

Yeah---some of the best memories are of cuddling a baby in the middle of the night...too bad that at the time we're ready to pull our hair out.

Not like I'd know since I'm not a parent...but I do recall these nights with all three of my Godchildren.

Which by the way--Jeanie is almost completely potty broke. She does still have an occasional accident in her pants...but for the most part--she goes to the big girl toilet like a pro!

Hi Tammy! BBN and I are January babies too. Happy belated!

Hmm....BBN is jonesin' for a cheeseburger....what an unusual occurrence. Speaking of food, I think I need a snack.....

Hey,everyone!

Stew has been made and consumed. It was goog, but the meat was not as tender as it gets in the pressure cooker. But it was still goog. But it took A LOT longer to cook without the pressure cooker, and DS was gone by the time it was done and DD is in SC for a Lacrosse tournament (not like she would have eaten any), so I have lots left over, now i have to somehow find room in the fridge or freezer to store some tupperware containers for leftovers.

Nap has been taken...

I think I'm done with stew for another couple of years now.

All this talk about food...oh wait...I'm not hungry. I am thirsty. Guess I'll take a load of laundry downstairs and then get some water.

Be right back.

GO JANUARY BABIES!!!!! If only it weren't so cold in January.
