Looks like there might actually be some sun here today!

Marita....I'm coming over for beef stew! I looove beef stew. I always use potatoes instead of dumplings. Dumplings sound goog! We keep two kinds of milk here...skim for drinking and whole for coffee & cooking.

Bonnie....Who are the Hags and why didn't I get invited on this trip? Are they some of your freaky internet friends? Do you tell your IRL friends about your freaky ax-murdering internet friends? Just kidding! I love my no-longer-imaginary friends! And I've said it before and I'll say it again....a girls-only trip sounds wonderful!

I have eaten at Raglan Road my last two trips but never tried the bread pudding. I had a trio of mousses - dark chocolate, white chocolate, and tiramisu - last time I was there.

For my entree, I had this and I HIGHLY recommend it if you like pork!

Paddy's Pork - Tasty pork loin stuffed with our homemade sausage meat drizzled with honey soy glaze. Served with buttered leeks, cabbage and mashed potatoes. $19.95

They just said on our new that we got 14 inches of snow and more to come over night......About another 2 inches.... They said we broke a record for Feb. and Feb just started.

WOW, Debbie! That's a lot of snow! We have hardly had any this year. For some reason when we moved to VA I thought we were gonna have white winters. Not so.

I'm out too for the night.

Gotta have nails done tomorrow(yuck) and eyebrows, and get the Bisquick and REAL milk. Then again, I may not.............. Or some combination


Nails and eyebrows have to be done tomorrow, closed sunday. And nails are getting long for typing, so I better do that

DH made homemade Cinnamon rolls!! FOR WORK!! (he let us eat one!!) they (ten employees) were having a Super Bowl food fest and started the grill with bratwurst - set off the alarm - fire dept and police came - the rest of the tenants were NOT happy - so the boss gave them dh's HOMEMADE Cinnamon rolls.... we were NOT happy!!

Moo-- thanks for sending me all this snow....I made hubby go out and snowblow tonight after shoveling twice. The the weather man says there will be more over night.

My Mom and sister are suppose to come home tomorrow. I know alot of flights were cancelled today because they couldn't keep the run ways clear. Wonder if that will push their flight around.

We watched Under Dog tonight. Nicholas loved it. Hannah is at a sleep over so she will have to watch it tomorrow.

Bonnie-- I loved the Love Boat. Watched it every Saturday night with Fantasy Island.

Hope they make it home ok - looks like the snow has moved on here - we got almost a foot! I think if your plane is a go - the people whose flights were cancelled fly stand by type status - they fill up the seats, but dont bump anyone (unless voluntarily!)

Oh, I have exiting (to me) news!

The regulars know how I have been whining now and then about wanting to make a beef stew (but the kids, particularly my DD) dont want it. So I haven't made any in like a couple of years or so.

Today, DH bought stew meat and all the fixings (well, except the dumpling mix and decent milk) Who want's fat free milk

But no big deal, I can run to the the store tomorrow and get those 2 things. Except that now it's close to 80 degrees here, but what the heck, it will still taste good. I make it in a pressure cooker, gets the meat really tender, with potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, green beans, McCormcick seasoning and most importantly, lots of BISQUICK DUMPLINGS! I could eat that dough raw, I swear.

I think it shows that I have not had a lot in the way of food tonight, LOL.
Had a few things at the reception, not enough to qualify for dinner though.

I want pictues! (since I cant have a bowl full!!) and I have to tell you Marita... you can make your own Bisquick!! I know!! When ds was born there was that whole organic movement (22 years ago) and a talk show had someone say you could make your own Bisquick!! (I do make Bisquick dumplings, usually for Chicken and Dumplings - that should be your next craving... or saurbraten!! and spaetzle - oh how I love the spaetze!! I tried making that from scratch... once... it tasted goog, but wasnt the easiest or fastest thing to make!!)

I'm just extra tired, Marita. I didn't get home from my work meeting until 12:30 last night. Even though I went in late this morning, I had such a busy day that it felt like I was there all day. I'm sure I'll be fine after sleeping in tomorrow.

Bon, sorry to speak of illicit treats Are you continuing to be strict on your diet during your Disney trip?

morning everyone....

Nab we didnt get the snowstorm like you did....we got about three inches of snow and then it turned to sleet and freezing rain and then snow and then rain and then ice......it is a mess......I got up about 3 am and got a rolaid.....so I went to the front of the house and ate it in peace (cause Megara would want to steal it out of my mouth if I went back to bed).....so I am just sitting on the floor in front of the window looking out and this big light up in the sky.....I mean the whole sky was white...like someone taking a big photo....before I could say oh what was that......a giant thunder and the whole house shook.....megara came yelling from the bedroom and I got up and went back to bed......got my side.....about ten minutes later another big thunder boomer and Megara started yelling again......when a water bed moves you know that it was a big one....

I should learn how to use Make up.......I only put on some lipstick so that I wont get sunburned lips in the summer and wind burned lips in the winter.....yah I am really with the program.....My daughter in law gets me whatever I would like to try from her sister who is a MK person....

SUN is out and maybe the ice will melt before we go out today......

A real life meeting between wt and c~girl would be interestingto say the least. I think one or more of them would be skeerd to death. It's on my bucket list to get this whole thread to a meet some day.

Woke up this morning and it is snowing. We have had snow on and off for the last week and a half. The kids are tired of the 2 hour delays and just want them to cancell or not delay at all - go figure I started a fire this morning and it is getting nice and toasty.

So DS came over around noon. He and DH are going to see the new Rambo movie. SO I asked dear son if he would like some stew for dinner when they get back.

They both ganged up on me.

"You won't make it, you'll be too tired"
"You won't make it, you'll say the moment has passed" (as in if you feel like cleaning, just stay put
until the feeling passes)
"You won't make it, you'll say you had work to do"

You would think they know me or something

So anyway, the challenge is ON! Have to run to the store now and get the milk and bisquick and get to work

if you ever have a good sale on london broil steak......buy that instead of the stew beef......it is usually cheaper then the already cut up stuff and it is wicked tastey too......i used to do that london broil thing for my steak soup too......I love it.....

I can almost smell it now...well not in real life cause it is still a block of ice.....will do it for Sunday meal ...maybe we can have company or invite the kiddos that do not watch that football stuff.......

Beef Stew: the saga continues yet again............

So before I left for the store, I got this brilliant idea to make sure I have the pressure cooker, since DS rearranged all the kitchen cabinets some months ago for extra money (and in the process threw out some things, including my very first pot I bought when I got married, white with red flowers and a red lid. I loved that pot . So it had a few chips. By the time he told me, it was already in trash, and I did NOT dig it out. I guess 37 years of service was enough, and it deserved to go into retirement). Sorry, I got sidetracked............ Anyway...........

Sure enough, no pressure cooker to be found. Luckily they had one at the local Winn Dixie at the corner. But now I have to wash it, attach the handle, oil the seal, read the instructions, etc. And I still haven't starting slicing and dicing anything.

It is safe to say there will NOT be any nails and eyebrows for me today.
There may or may not be beef stew for dinner ...

But it's girlfriend time I don't often get! Me, Misty and our sewing friend Jhammie are taking our girls to the Mayan restaurant first. It's COOL! It has cliff divers and everything! Can't wait!

It'll be cute watching Norah think she's a BIG girl since the other girls are much older.

The girls WILL be dressed up, by the way. Glitter will be included.
