New DVC owner here (parents gifted us their AKL points, so have a blue card). We are planning a trip and trying to decide if Moonlight Magic at Epcot on 6/29 would be an option for us. We will be staying on-site.

How do reservations work? Is it purely a lottery system, or are the chances high of getting a reservation if you are staying on site? I guess I'm wondering if it's like a 30% chance of getting in, even if staying on site, or if you are guaranteed a spot with a reservation? Or is it somewhere in the middle?

Also wondering about food/snacks. I've read about meal vouchers and I've read about popcorn/soda/ice cream like the DAH events. Wondering what the story is for this year's events.

There are a couple of outside factors affecting our ability to plan at the moment- hoping that is cleared up in a week or so. Trying to get as much information as I can until then so we can decide how best to proceed. Thanks in advance for any information, help, tips, etc. you can give me!

On the morning registration opens to onsite guests there will be an RSVP link to sign up. Anyone clicking on that prior to 9AM will be entered into a queue which is randomized at 9AM. Anyone joining the queue after that will just go to the end. In my experience signing up, when I've gotten into the queue prior to 9 I've been able to get registered. They do tend to sell out quickly though so you'll want to register as soon as it opens.

They keep tweaking the way they do things but this year they did a voucher for a QS meal and also handed out ice cream bars. We liked that much better than free hotdogs & chips that we had previously received.

I'm so afraid of not getting the RSVP link. Will it be on the DVC Members' site? Since registration opens at 9:00, but you can click on the link beforehand, how early is the link available? Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure what time it opens up that morning....just check before 9. Each event has a page available and the link shows up there. If you go look at the AK event now it shows as being sold out and has a 'Check Availability' link....that's where the link to register will be.

Thank you for all the helpful information! Just to clarify, we click on the link before 9, and then get put into a queue. So we will have a chance to register once our turn comes if there are still spaces left at some point after 9?

Correct. You want to keep watching after 9 for when your turn comes up.

When I registered for the February one I actually woke up at 3am eastern time and got into queue. At 9 I was like #290. Got my reservation quickly

You may get 7687, however. Even if you click at or just before 9.

What some people do is log on with as many devices as they can find. This can radically inflate the queue. As people logoff, disconnect, etc the numbers can drop quickly so if you get a high queue number hang in... you may still get in.

Good advice- thanks! I might consider using a couple devices as well...

How long after 9 am did people actually get to register? Did it take anyone more than an hour after signing up before 9 am?

Question - if you got in the queue at 3am, weren’t you automatically logged out of your dvc page by the time 9 am rolled around? Did you log back in to find that you were still in line?

You don't have to be logged in to get to the link and it goes to a different site.

The Epcot MM seems to be the easiest for which to register. Just be sure to enter the queue prior to 9 am and you should be fine. Good luck!

For last year's Epcot MM, I was logged in on my desktop & tablet about 8:45. Once 9AM hit, the tablet was somewhere in the 1000's in the queue, and the desktop never even got a number - I was brought right into the sign-up page (both linked from email). I thought something went wrong initially, but nope, I finally managed to be #1 at something 🥇 (given the option, a state lottery win would have been somewhat better, but hey, a win is a win is a win ;) )

actually mk is. The last 2 or 3 years It didn’t sell out at all, even with non resort teservetions
Last year we didn't have any plans of going early in the year. After we started seeing the rare characters that were out at the MK event I went on and was able to get tickets on Feb 5th for the Feb 12th event.
