If I am staying at a non-dvc resort, but an on property resort, say port orleans, can I make a Moonlight Magic reservation on the first day they open, or do I have to wait for the second booking window (all guests) to open?

I wanted to go to the MK one in January, but no chance of getting a room on points for it, and dont mind doing a cash ressie if it will fly.

TIA!

Yes, this. We enjoyed the 2nd Moonlight Magic at MK in 2016 (the 2nd ever) and one of the DVC Pandora previews while staying at Pop. We booked both stays specifically for those events.

Wish I knew this before I borrowed points for January! Oh well.

Now, do our guests have to be staying on property, or can they be local?

We lucked out and happen to be there on Feb 7th. What time does Moonlight Magic typically start? I am worried my 5 year old daughter won't be able to stay awake and we'll miss it anyway :rotfl2:

I believe how it worked this year is that if you booked during the first window (for resort guests only) than all your guests have to be staying on property. If you book during the second window they do not have to be staying on property.

Thanks, but not necessary that they are in DVC. I will find out if they care to book something on site to join us!

So are there ever any reservations left for the 2nd date? Any experience with this anyone?

Yes, they would need to book themselves during the no reservation booking date. One of the new guidelines in 2018 says that you can only book one moonlight reservation per membership for each event. In the past I’ve read there were multiple members booking for themselves and 5 guests each, when there were more than one member on an account. Hopefully this will help.
