Moonlight Magic - REALLY

What time of day does the registration typically open up? One of the dates falls during our upcoming trip and I really hope we can get tickets!

Well that sucks. We come home from Disney on 1/19 and there is an AK event on 1/21. Missed it by a week. 🙃

Any comparison to H20 at Typhoon Lagoon? We did this in August - bought the tickets a few days before and it was fantastic. No registration headaches, no lines whatsoever and no weather worries.

So excited! 2 of the dates line up with our 2 trips. An MK one when it's just DH and I and a Typhoon Lagoon one with the whole family! The last 2 years we ended up having an AK one during our trips...nice and all, but it's our least favorite park, happy to have different ones during our trips this time!

Our arrival date for our first DVC trip is Feb 25, which is one for AK and our departure day is Mar 3, which is the MK one. Debating extending our trip a day.

cant compare to h20 nights as I have not been, but from what I see on line MM looks like it does not have as much theming perhaps?

I have done Disney after hours at MK and HS - and the crowds are about the same - MM has a few more festivities (such as the dance party) and additional character meets, and a free meal voucher,. Its also about 100$ cheaper per person (and that is the big one)

Its my impression that MM is just a DVC version of those other paid events without the cost of the ticket.

No problem for me clicking thru to website. Nice to get some good news after being shut for a week trying to grab a reservation

Was wondering if the demand for the TL has amped up. We did it summer of ‘18, was a breeze to book compared to other events. Crowd size was low too, not sure if akin to how a large park like epcot tends to handle bigger crowds? The MK one comparatively speaking, seemed packed.

Just went this year. Least favorite, but the price was right!
We done all but AK, TL was totally different experience, more interactive with dance party etc for the kiddos. GD said it’s her favorite one so far.

Not to my knowledge. I have done 2 in a year, and over 3 years hit all 5 WDW ones.

I hope that hasnt changed as I will be there for a HS one in Sept. I think I will jet set it for the 3/3 MK one, fly in the night of the 2nd and out the AM on the 4th :)
almost makes one feel guilty for snagging them but we all work within the same parameters. They certainly announced them early this year for a change!
It should not be an issue, as you do not have to even be staying at a DVC resort, just on property. As long as you are eligible that is all that matters.
Then again, thats assuming systems work properly.
We had to add on a date once to be able to attend. No DVC availability but able to grab a value. No difference in when we were able to try for tickets.

Got the email. Some of dates align, but registration opens in November while I’m cruising.
Trusted friend or family member. I’ve drafted DiL for making FP several times when we are at sea.
We had a similar stay, where the event date fell on our resale membership - I just called & they added my direct membership number to that reservation. we got the email & signed up without a problem
Same here, nice they accommodate direct buy members that way.
They changed it. Number on reservation or 4. For the DLR MM there were a bunch of members who are mad because since they are not staying on site they are only allowed 4 so have to leave kids home or whatever.
So it’s 4 for reservation, not members. I missed that, thanks

I just added 1 night to try to do the September event. The even is the 15th and we arrive the 16th. my very best friend will register us for the January event. We will be cruising when it opens.

I already have gears turning, as our currently planned departure date is the night a of a MK moonlight. Am I correct in thinking a check out date still gives you "reservation preference"?
I'm toying with the idea of leaving a day later, but maybe cashing in marriott points at the swan for the additional night, as it we have a studio at CCV, and I doubt we can extend that even if we wanted to spend the dvc points.
United changed our flight times, and I haven't accepted it yet, so I should be able to push our flight back a day at no cost(I think).
That would mean I'd have to give up on tragical express and pay for a ride to the airport, and pay for a lyft to move bags from CCV to Swan, and the swan resort fee.

Does anyone know if you can attend more than one Moonlight Magic at each event? Example: one night at Magic Kingdom then one night at Animal Kingdom event.

In the past it has been one event per park. So what you are asking is yes you could do the MK and AK one if you get into both.

No email for me. Will be there for the Hollywood Studios in September. Will just miss MK in March by a few days. Just wish there were more details for the Disneyland resort one. I own VGC points and would use my 11 month window to book a room if I knew when the event might be. The one next month I am having to pay cash for a room and not thrilled about it at all. Would really like to use my VGC points for it.

is this only a problem if your two contracts have different use years?

Anyone go to the Animal Kingdom one? It's the only one during my dates, not my first choice, but might consider it.
we just went to the one in August. I will never complain about a free event, but it was not great. the characters were just ok, it was pretty crowded. they gave us game vouchers for dinoland, but it was a madhouse with everyone trying to get up to the front of every game to play. we grabbed free dinner at flame tree, and my son wanted to see flik and atta, grabbed a free mickey bar and left. We did the HS one the year before and it was amazing. Our dates fell perfect that we are there for both MK ones in April so I'm really hoping to get that. Just fell perfect for HS again in September too. So out of 3 possible dates that we will be there, I'm really hoping to get one of them.
