Moonlight Magic Question

Just wanted to confirm my understanding after talking to member support. I was very excited to learn that our family reservations in January overlap with AK moonlight magic (YAY! I had given up on lucking out with timing). I called member services to confirm the early reservation process. We have three reservations, one for my daughter's family VGF, one for my husband and me at VGF and one for my son at BLT. All four of us are on our direct contracts (VGF). Our BLT is resale. The rep told me that my son can not be included in the tix I will try to get because his reservation used resale points while the other two used direct, even though he is a direct member using points. So likely one of us will stay behind. I know I have to be there if I make the reservations but they don’t seem to care who the other tickets go to as long as they only issue the number of tix for people listed on direct reservations and I can't list my son twice I don't think. So we will see, but they seem to be very strict about only people on direct point resies qualify. Good to know for the future. If anyone has other advice, love to hear.

No they are incorrect and it should work even if the stay was booked on resale points, as long as the member/membership is eligible for membership extras. This question has been asked many times before. Members here often know more about the system than DVC CMs do unfortunately

It may be complicated if you have multiple memberships though since you have to put that number in when booking. If your BLT is under a different membership due to use year/titling then you may have to register twice (once for each membership attending)? If it is all under 1 membership then it should all work under one booking I believe

Tatebeck, thanks for the information and links! Yes, they are different membership numbers/use years so may have to register twice. I will look into it further.

If they are different memberships, then you may need to be strategic in how they get booked?

But, unless they change rules for 2026 early registration, all should count because you are a direct owner who has reservations in your name.

Since they are on separate memberships, you will likely have to register for the VGF membership and have the direct member staying in the BLT membership try to register for that membership since I think it is limited to 1 reservation per member and asks for the membership number specifically for the qualifying stay.

So in some small way the CM may have been right that YOU personally may not be able to register twice for both memberships/both qualifying stays since they only allow 1 registration per member and you would have to do it twice with the 2 membership numbers. But since someone staying in the room at BLT has direct benefits they may be able to book a second Moonlight Magic reservation for the members of that room.

Yeah this is tricky because even though resale points are eligible in certain circumstances, there is a limit of only one MM booking per membership. More than one room can be eligible, but only when those rooms are on the same membership (assuming the owner(s) do not have more than 1 membership that qualifies for blue card)?

Does that sound right?

Possible workaround...

How full are the rooms at VGF? Are you getting 3 different rooms for more sleeping surfaces rather than because the rooms are maxed out on capacity? The Moonlight Magic registration does not care about any names on the stay other than the qualifying DVC member.

So if the total max room capacity of the 2 VGF rooms is equal to (or more than) the total number of people in the 3 rooms, you can just put in some fake names on the VGF reservations to make sure that the MM registration will be able to grab the maximum number of tickets the VGF reservations allow. Then the BLT crew can go in under the single larger VGF MM registration
