Moonlight Magic - Disneyland??

We've hedged our bets again this year and booked Nov 15-16, 2023 VGC studio. Looking back on the previous November dates I'm more convinced (or self-diluted) that if held in November, it will be the 16th....It's awesome that they've announced that it will happen, but sucks that we are entering the 11 month window for the VGC (Nov 2023) without a date. If it's held in prior to October 2023 it looks like there will be no studios available at our home resort. We'd likely stay off property as we've done in the past. Here's to stalking the DIS boards, DVC site, and Parks Blog....

I booked 11/15-11/17 as I normally do a mini staycation around those dates. Have been lucky with MM then before, but I honestly think since the wording is that there is a confirmed event that it will be sooner. They did one a couple years ago in January at Disneyland and it was amazing (so much better than any I have been to at DCA), and it was announced like in December (I think because how much negative came out of the one in November that year at DCA). I just want a MM popcorn bucket since we lost our chance for one because we were to go to the AK one in September that was cancelled due to Hurricane Ian.

I live 15 minutes away. Gonna be steamed if I don't get in this year...LOL

It sounds like to me (based on the announcement) that it will be earlier in the year. But who knows. I wish they would just announce the date already 🤣. I’m in wait mode between that and hopefully a DVC preview to the new ride (Mickey and Minne’s Runaway Railway). At this point, it’s too late for me to rebook my DVC Disneyland trip so if I’m lucky enough to get tickets if/when it happens, I’ll probably use points to stay off site.

Does this usually work the same way as WDW? Blue card members with cash stays booked at any of the three Disney hotels for Feb. 1 get a priority booking window?

Yay! I booked a night at DLH for MM. Got a pretty good Magic Keyholder rate for the night!
Good for you! It is kinda curious how we immediately begin to scramble on the news. You booked a night at DLH ... I booked a night at a nearby off-property timeshare. Glad we were both successful, thus far. Good luck on the event reservations! :)

Yes, Disney seems to have trained us all well! Here's to getting the tickets to the event. I can cancel up until 1/27 I believe if I do not get the tickets.

Just booked there too! Very good rates indeed, worked out cheaper than the Westin and the same or not much more than the Harbor Blvd spots.

Unfortunately this is happening less than a week after our longest stay of the year at VGC for my son's birthday, but at least we'll also get to see the 100th stuff since we are finishing that trip on the 23rd and just missed it!

I can't imagine this will be that difficult to get tickets to as there just aren't that many west coast DVC members in comparison to the WDW events. But this will be my first DLR MM so I really have no idea.

I called Member Services to ask them about something else but decided to ask about Moonlight Magic, too. I was told that those with resort reservations will get first dibs. That applies to those who are booked with DVC points or a cash stay using their DVC membership. I tried to see if there was any availability for a cash stay using my membership and was told there was not any availability.

But whether or not that will stay as the rule, who knows.

I mean, there are only about 50 DVC rooms at DLR. Accounting for occupancy you're still only looking at maybe 350 members plus guests max that would fall under those restrictions. I wouldn't worry about the park selling out if those are the criteria to register a week early.

Just received an email for registration... They are doing early registration if you have any DLR reservation. Mine was a regular reservation at DLH, not a DVC reservation.

You are receiving this email, because you currently hold a qualifying Disneyland® Resort hotel reservation on the event date, providing you access to early booking registration beginning on December 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
