Moonlight Magic - Direct vs Resale points for reservation

I thought I read somewhere a few months ago that you now have to have your reservation for Moonlight Magic made with your blue card/direct points, but can't find it anywhere to confirm.

Does anyone else remember this change?

As @Sandisw said that is not true.

You just have to be an eligible member to make one.
The early registration period requires you to have a stay booked with points (Resale or direct) cash dvc stay through MS or if you really wanted to stay at All-Stars you could use Reservation Points.

The general registration period you could be staying anywhere including off site.
