We've never been to a members' event before, but I see that there is a Moonlight Magic event on Nov. 15th at Disneyland. I made VGC reservations for that night. Any idea on when tickets be available to reserve, and how hard they will be to get? If we aren't going to be able to attend, I need to cancel before July 31st and bank those points (Dec. UY). Also, how are guests handled? My husband and I both have DVC cards, but our (minor) daughters don't and I'd also like to bring a friend (adult) if that is allowed. Thanks for any info/insight/experience. :goodvibes

For the magic kingdom events this year they allowed up to 5 guests per registered DVC member (or up to the number of guests on their villa reservation if that was more than 6). Not sure if they have announce the registration date for Disneyland yet but with MK events they opened it up to people with onsite reservations first and then all DVC members a week or so after. It did book up but if I recall correctly it took about a month or so.

OK great, thank you, that helps greatly! Sounds like hopefully we will get priority registration since we have a reservation at VGC already for that time. :thanks:

We did reservation @ VGC as soon as they announced this event so I too hope we get priority registration !!8-) :worship: :flower3:

Last year's DVC CA event sold out within a day or two, much faster than the WDW events. My sister went, and it was packed. Hourlong waits just to check in, and on all the big rides. Major disappointment.

Hmm, so it might not be worth it, from what you are saying? :sad1:

Do you remember how far in advance the tickets were available?

Thank you!

We are in the same boat. We have a reservation at VGC for that night too! Hopefully they give people with onsite reservations first chance, that would be awesome! And I hope it's not as bad as it sounds like it was last year. The Florida ones sound like they're great, no lines and just fun. Maybe they learned if it was too chaotic last year at DL and will adjust how many tickets they offer.

I went last year and it was definitely packed. I was definitely disappointed with the lines, but the free snacks were good at least

We have a reservation too and are hoping to attend.

I was thinking of attending this as well but I'm surprised to hear it was so packed. Most DVC resorts are in WDW, so it seems like those events would be more packed. Who are all these DVC Members at DL? :)

Well ... let's start with the SoCal and Zonie (AZ) locals? I'm guessing I'm not the only local who bought into DVC at WDW long before the Grand Cal was ever announced ... :bored:

Yes, it's not like we all live at the resorts. Well, at least year round. ;) DVC was sold nationwide and worldwide including CA, AZ and in my case NV.

I understand, I live in CA myself :) It just seems like the WDW events would be more popular because at any given time there are several thousand DVC members staying at WDW, whereas VGC only has 50 rooms.

But VGC's 50 rooms do not establish a limit to event attendance. Last year's process did not tie a 'room reservation requirement' to event registration for the DCA party.

Additionally, WDW has held multiple events across each year to help load balance whereas we have only 1 event in the year at DLR.

They don't require staying onsite. If that was something you were unaware of then I understand the confusion.

And how cool would that be! 50 villas with the entire park to themselves!

Ha yeah guess it doesn’t make sense for it only to be open to those staying at VGC, but that would be an awesome experience if it was.

Thinking about it more, it makes sense it’s so popular since DL only has one event the whole year. I guess I was just initially surprised that there are so many DVC members that would travel to DL on a Wednesday in the middle of Nov without being able to stay on points.

Yeah, I tried to book a room last year as soon as it was announced, but it was already full.

We happened to be at DL for last year's party. Just walking around the park wasn't too crowded. It was actually a really nice night out and it was nice to be able to walk around without running into a million other people. But if you wanted a snack or to ride one of the rides, then you were waiting in reeaallllyyy long lines. The snacks were good though. They had mickey bars, popcorn, pop/water, and 1/2 churros (nope, you couldn't get a full one, just a half) for free. They also had a few places open if you wanted to purchase food. The best part of the night for us was finally getting a great view of World of Color. We had seen it a couple of other nights, but we were always off to one side or another. On this night, we got to view it from the center (but not up front by the water!). It was AMAZING!!!!!

I would definitely recommend going if you can get in and hopefully they will make some adjustments to things for the next one they have so the lines aren't so obnoxious. :)
