For anyone interested the History Channel is broadcasting shows about the moon landing 40 years ago today!

What, and miss the Bachelorette??????:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm watching an amazing programme right now about the moon landing. It's called 'In the Shadow of the Moon'. It's so well put together, I'm gripped. They've got modern day interviews with Buzz Aldrin, James Lovell (Apollos 8 and 13), Charles Duke (Apollo 16) and many others with lots of excellent archived footage too of Neil Armstrong, JFK etc.

There's something unique about it. It's just outstanding. Lots of heart-felt reminiscences from the astronauts. These men are so nice - so charismatic and just full of interesting anecdotes. They're also gentlemen.

There's a trailer for it here

Aw, how sad, just as I was watching this they started showing the TV broadcast by Walter Cronkite. The timing of his death seems eerie now.

Apparently, during the moon landing, the film footage inside Mission Control was silent but the producers of this documentary found the audio loops and synched the voices to film. Wonderful!

For those of us who enjoy this moon landing subject I found a wonderful movie. It is The Dish and stars Sam Neil.
It is about the satellite dish in Australia that helped NASA when the Apollo was on 'the far side of the moon'.
True story very well done.

My DH was so excited to watch the History Channel last night. He made all of our kids watch too. He says he remembers being at White Lake and everyone watching on it on the campground owner's black and white tv. He was 7. I was 6 and I don't remember it!

I loved how they kept going on location to Disneyland on the CBS Evening News that night. They showed all of the tourists stopping and watching together in an area. My kids were laughing at the awful graphics and set models that Walter had to work with back in l969.

My husband was busy watching and recording those shows last night. He was in Pleiku, Viet Nam 40 years ago when the real "moon walk" ;) happened.

I watched the History Channel almost all day yesterday. That was such an exciting time. Brought back many memories.

I also love The Dish. We watched it Sunday night. Great story.
