Okay, I keep putting things off on coming back here until I can do a "proper" (Debra-length) post.
That ain't happening for a while, so I'm just jumping in.
Frank: Your March/DC half marathon...wow! It's a beautiful time of year there. I'll also exploit anyone for my own nefarious purposes. For races only, of course.
Maura:
Vicky: Congrats on signing up for your 30K. And I say a good pace in training is sometimes the one that just, dang it, feels good!
Kira: So glad you had a great marathon--you deserve it.
to DD. I hope she's better soon. So jealous of you and DS and scuba certification.
To everyone I missed: Catch you on the next post!
As for me: Congrats to everyone who's getting back in the running groove from marathon weekend. The best thing about the Goofy for me was that I realized I'd built up some core strength from my last Disney marathon. No back injuries or niggling pain. (I knew that, but it was good to confirm it.)
I've been out for three short runs, with the feet causing mild discomfort. Shoddy pace, though. And it's half marathons for me this year, as I'd really like to focus on that distance. Plus, a new commitment to much more outdoor time than treadmill time. Pittsburgh hills make me stronger, if not faster, and I regret wimping out on the outdoor LRs in November/December because of weather.
And more weight training. I think I hit a new record for the past 6 months--3x this week! (Yeah, I'm an overachiever.

Smart strategy, as usual. There's always plenty of XT activities to keep us stronger and make us better runners (and walkers) once we're recovered. So I may just not run for a while to let things really settle down. Not planning any near term races anyway, and I'd rather feel like I'm starting from scratch healthy than running with discomfort.
