Meredith - I have to admit, we took a LOT of pictures in Myrtle Beach that weekend. It was really, really pretty. We don't see a whole lot of snow in Raleigh, so we had a lot of fun on Friday night walking around. Of course, we went to bed early assuming we were going to get up early for a race... but DD texted me around midnight to say she was sorry about the race (she'd already heard on the news about the cancellation - we didn't know yet!) We went out Saturday at noon and ran 11 miles in absolutely perfect weather. And still got the medal!
Joan - I'll be 48 in 4 weeks, so I'm right behind you. The 2006 Minnie was my first 5K - couldn't quite get the nerve to try for the 15K that year, and never made it back for the full distance before they canceled it. After being on the boards in January 2007 when everyone was gone for the races, I made a vow to be there with them the next year, so the 2008 Donald was my first half. I was supposed to do the City of Oaks in Raleigh that year, but a stress fracture kept me out of it and made sure that Disney was my first finish line! And Happy Birthday, a few days early!
Lexxie&Nicky - Two miles is not pathetic. Every mile counts. Right now I'd love to do 2 miles! And remember - everyone on these boards is at a different place in their training. It's real easy to start comparing yourself to people who're doing really long distances, and you don't have to do that. Each mile is a victory, depending on your training plan.
I'm headed to the library to pick up and return more books. The positive side of this injury is that I've read more in the past 2 months than I have since I started running. I love to read, but haven't had a lot of time to do that lately, but I've lost count of what I've read since June! Thanks for all the good vibes for the MRI - I'll take them with me, since I'm more than a little anxious about what it may involve. I remember something about "injection" and "painful," but I blocked out everything after that!
