Month of August - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Jennifer Welcome to the group. I am over in Beverly Hills and am training for the Mickey in 2010 (with Mackinac Bridge run & RFTT up first)

Katie Welcome. Good luck with your training.

I did a very nice 7 miles today--getting some base miles in. Took it fairly easy and it felt good. I like runs like that.

Off to complete today's cooking project (Debra..can you hear me?!) Chocolate, chocolate-chip cookies with strawberry gelato. A nice little ice-cream sandwich!

Maura

Chris,

I see with the re-added photos the RftT ticker is now cutting in half. Bummer. Hardly scary! I saw from Pat's report from RnR Chicago that the RftT is in it's last year. Bummer for me but way cool for you and the wife :thumbsup2

Enjoy the rest of Sunday! I have to get to some chores :laundy: the pile of dirty training clothes turns into a mountain when 2 are training. it's scary! :scared1:

AH! Chris! I see that when I posted my reply you had the RftT ticker fix! Excellent!

I don't know about Debra but I'll be right over. Forget the laundry! :lmao: Debra? No worries, I have this handled! ::yes::

Maura: hmmmm, mmmmm, yummmyyyy - I'll be over too, count me in!!

Katie: Welcome to the WISH racing team. WISH is what you would like to make of it. Good luck with the training.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes. I am glad to be here.

Good morning everyone. This is my first post on disboards but I already have many friends here on WISH. For those that don't know me my name is Katie and I live in Baltimore. I am a computer programmer and live with my Labradoodle Tillie. My next Disney race is the RFTT which is part of my taper for my second marathon, the MCM (my first with WDW 2008). This January I am tackling Goofy. I just couldn't resist the 5th anniversary medal.

I look forward to getting to know the WISHers I don't already know.
Hi Katie!

Welcome to WISH!

Welcome to the people who have just joined us (or those who I've missed earlier)!
:welcome:

Hello Jennifer, Ben and Chris, Katie, and anyone else from June/July that I've missed. (I've been MIA from the monthly thread.)

Jennifer: Yep, glad to have you on board! Join the crazies, er I mean us.

Kim: Did you find out if APs are good for 15 months? That would be a great incentive for more trips (and races).

Pat: I thought you were doing Chicago RnR?

Jackie: Just remember....those first 12 miles were great!

Tracy: Thank you so much for being "Happy." And for volunteering at the full! I'll be sure to return the favor when you do the full in 2010. :goodvibes Overall, do you think your PT is helping you?

Megan: WTG with your 7 miles! Wow, your Disney trip is really approaching quickly. Yay!

Ben: The Higdon plan is a good one for the Goofy, and it sounds like you've got an excellent overall approach for the Disney marathon!

Chris: Great job on your 8 miler! I find the more active I am, the less I watch sports. (Although it's probably a time crunch thing for me...) How is your DW's training progressing?

Diane, Susan, Jennifer: Ahhh, just keep the Detroit talk coming. I miss my adopted hometown. :goodvibes OH, and just let me throw in a gratuitous ice-cream reference here: Ray's (Royal Oak).

Katie: Welcome! Me and DOOD (my DH) are doing Baltimore this fall (half for me, full for him). We're also going Goofy (well, Dopey).

Kirsite: I didn't realize you were doing MCM. Congrats on reaching Gold with the President's Challenge. I need to get back to recording my numbers there... :rolleyes1

Maura: It was your talk of ice-cream that lured me out. :rotfl2: That and the fact we both did 7 miles today, so I was feeling the connection. Oh, and Diane...I've got the ice-cream sandwich situation handled. :lmao:

Robert: Great to see you here!

As for me: I finally have some training of some note to report. This weekend was the first official B2B runs for the Goofy (yes, Jeff, I know you don't do them, but I'm too insecure not to). True, it was just a 3 1/2 and 7 mile run. But week one is done, and I survived. And without either an ice bath or ice cream. Who would have thought? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Welcome Katie! I saw my first Golden Doodle a couple weeks ago. Cool dogs!

Diane...ohhh...forgot Beaches n Cream. Maybe a nice real cherry Coke would work about that time ;)

Debra...welcome back. I think that's an impressive b2b so far. I am tackling the 3.5/7 combo next weekend.

Did someone mention football? :goodvibes Only a few more days til preseason starts!

Welcome to the WISH board Katie!

Debra where have you been?

Hi Maura - it's been months since I've seen you posting..but then again I don't get to this section much.

Yay! Katie's here! Welcome to WISH Katie!

Haven't posted here in a LONG time! So HI EVERYONE!!!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

Debra: Baltimore is a good marathon, hilly but good. I have only done the half myself, but I have many friends who have done the full. If it wasn't for heading out to do RFTT I would be there this year. Next year I plan to do the MD Double, which is half or full in May in Frederick, MD then the half or full at Baltimore.

Wow Debra when you post, you post!!!:thumbsup2 WTG on your b2B's

Got a great 10.4K walk in yesterday, we waited to long to get out there and it was quite hot but at least not too humid but my hands still looked like the stay puff marshmellow man:scared1:

Long weekend here in Ontario and the weather is amazing!!!

Have a good one all

Kim

Hi folks, I need some encouragement. My running partner moved about 2 weeks ago, which hasn't been so bad because we were at Disney when she left. But now I'm home and sad. I can't seem to find a good time to run by myself. We ran at night after the kids went to bed, but I'm scared to run at night by myself.

Have you thought about joining local running clubs or looking online to see if you can find a new running partner? There was a board I found one time that was basically personal ads for training partners. I wish I knew where it was.

I got 5 miles in this morning. They were slow but they felt good. I know getting in the miles early this week will help my long run not feel so long on Saturday.

Morning WISHers! Today is a rest day for me after 10 yesterday. DL half is approaching quickly and I am getting so excited!

Hey team!!!!! Can you believe we are getting close to the 5 month mark!!!!!

Look forward to seeing my WISH family and terrified of Goofy ;)

Hello everyone, it sure is nice to see some familiar faces. I have done the WDW Full in 2008 and 2009, just like Katie, the promise of bling was just too much so I am going Goofy in 2010. My fall race schedule looks like this: Annapolis 10 miler (Aug 30), Parks 1/2 (Sept 13), Philly Distance Run (Sept 22), Baltimore 1/2 (Oct 10, 2nd part of my Maryland 1/2), Marine Corp Marathon (Oct 25) and finally Philly 1/2 (Nov 22). I figure with all that I will be really ready for Goofy, or horizontal!

I look forward to hear everyone trials and tribulations.

WOW!!! Look at you run! Now that's a running schedule...makes me feel like a slacker!:worship:

Erica: Knew you were doing all those events, but thinking of them in my head doesn't even compare to seeing them all written out like that. Woo-wee girl! Will do my best to support you through them so that you will be ready for Goofy rather than horizontel, though I don't think you will need it. :goodvibes
