DS (6) and DD (3) - 1st trip to Disney!
DAY 5 - Rest and Relaxation?
OK, this is it, after "hitting the wall" yesterday, we decided to take it easy today, no parks during the day, b/c we had tix for MNSSHP tonight. We slept in until 7:30!!! Wow! Washed up and got ready to go to WC for breakfast. On the way to WC, DD runs to the Pin Trading Lady (Maria) and said, "I want to trade!" Now mind you, we talked to the kids about pins earlier in the trip and I showed them all the pins at the Pin Trader Stand on Day 1... no interest. Then, DD saw a couple of girls with the Princess Lanyard and pins... that did it! So, we bought her the Princess Lanyard set and DD made her first trade with Maria. The Pin Trading Bug has bit us... watch out! DS refused to get a Lanyard set b/c he only wants to buy pins he likes and wants to KEEP them! So, we p/u a Hall of Presidents pin (Surprise, Surprise!) for him. On to breakfast! I had a Waffle w/ fresh Strawberries that was to die for! DH had Bacon and Eggs and kids had Pancakes. Everything was great and our server was wonderful. DS had to ask for ketchup even though he had pancakes... we had about 7 on our table after that!
We decided to try out one of the miniature golf courses. DS and DD wanted to check out Winter Summerland... great, talk about out of the way! Oh, well, we took bus to BB and went to play. It was really a cute golf course, but of course I think it was overpriced. Kids had a ball looking at each different hole. After playing, we decided to do some souvenier shopping at DTD. Well, I told you we were out of the way! We had to take a bus to a resort, then take another bus to DTD! The first bus to show up was for Ft. Wilderness... jumped on! We were asking the bus driver about the next bus to take as we were getting off... well, wouldn't ya know it... the DTD bus was just pulling up to the bus stop... more PD our way! Got to DTD and shopped away!
I can't even begin to tell you how many bags of stuff we had! We almost bought DD a beautiful doll house of the MK castle with the princes and princesses inside... we had to draw the line there... next visit I am sure! Good thing I remembered to pack an extra empty duffel bag for a carryon! The shopping was great. We were getting tired though.... time to refuel. Off to Ghiradelli!!! I had a Caramel Apple Sundae, DD and DS had Smores Sundaes and DH had a Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae. I can't even begin to tell you how awesome each of these were! This is a must stop for anyone at DTD!
Finished up shopping (more pins... eek!
) Took bus to WL.
We rested and washed up. Got the kids in their costumes (Tink and Peter Pan!) They looked great.. hopefully pics to follow later!) We took the boat to MK. Had PS for CP, but had time to ride a few things first. On the way to Dumbo, we saw Mary Poppins. DD went berserk... she adores her! We were the first on line to meet and greet her. MP was getting such a kick out of DD b/c she was asking all these questions about the movie. DD knows it by heart! So, MP asked me in quite an authentic British accent, "Is your family free at 5:30 this evening!".. I said, "Not really, why?"... She said, "Well, I wanted Elizabeth to join me on the carousel at 5:30!"... What did I do? I said, "Sorry, we have reservations for dinner... !!" Man, do I regret that! Well, I won't mention it to DD... ever! DH could have killed me. But, I didn't want to miss our PS! Now I realized I could have gone with DS to CP for our PS and DH and DD could have gone on the carousel and meet us later for dinner! I feel so guilty now!
Anyway, on to CP. The food and service was great... the characters were wonderful and had lots of time to spend with the kids. Tigger and DD and DS were bouncing away at the table! Oh, the creme brulee was awesome here! The CM even gave DH and I free cappuccinos. They were great. We finished up dinner and went outside for MNSSHP. The kids trick or treated and took a free photo. We went on a few rides. DS and DH went on Splash mountain... they had a boat all to themselves. We then saw people start to sit for parade... decided we should do the same. Well, DD fell asleep in stroller. DS was getting cranky b/c parade didn't start on time... after 8:15 finally! Watched parade, tried waking up DD, impossible! Parade was great, just slow moving. After parade, DS said "I want to go back to room!!!!" AKKK!!! All that money spent on these tix for 1 1/2 hrs at the park! Oh, well! Got on a boat right away, but guess what? The boat couldn't leave b/c the fireworks were about to start! So, we had to wait until they finished. We did get a good view of them. They were beautiful. Thank goodness DD was sound asleep b/c she is deathly afraid of fireworks!
Got to room finally and dressed sleepy kids for bed... they slept soundly all night!
One thing I have forgotten to mention... Mousekeeping was OK.. but no towel animals!!! I was a little dissappointed!
Anyway, that's all for today, Day 6 is next. EE Epcot w/ Princess Breakfast!
