On a whim, I was looking at the Blue Bayou's menu online, and was happily surprised to see the Monte Cristo listed in the Lunch menu.

Has it really returned back to the Blue Bayou?! Looks like it!

Although it is prepared in the same kitchen, it seems there differences in the dish:

BLUE BAYOU:
"Turkey, Ham, and Swiss, battered and fried to golden brown, served with Fruit Skewer, Berry Jam, and Crème Anglaise ..... $28.00"

CAFE OLREANS:
"Sliced Turkey, Ham, and Swiss fried in a light batter, dusted with Powdered Sugar, and served with a Berry Purée ..... $21.00"

Thoughts?

I thought the Monte Cristo was always on the lunch menu at BB, just not on the dinner menu.

The last I have heard it is not on the menu at Blue Bayou, as they wanted to remove the cheaper options at lunch, I kind of doubt that has changed.

Doubt all you like, but the current menu online and on the app list the Monte Cristo on the Lunch Menu.

My only thought is that DW was literally devastated when the MC was reportedly gone from BB. All the reports since then were that even if it was not on the menu, it could still be ordered. If it is back on the menu that will make her very happy.

My daughter just had it the other day at lunch. It was absolutely delicious (yes, I had to have a bite). We love the MC and it was the best thing we ordered in our group. Whatever DD2 ordered (don't remember) was very good. The sides were great. But oldest DD and I shared the surf and turf and that was quite a disappointment. It has always been stellar but this trip, it was not. For $52 plus split plate charge ($13?) I expected my filet to be perfect (it was overcooked) and the lobster tail delicious (it was inedible--slimy, stringy, and no drawn butter!). The service was just sufficient. The place wasn't terribly busy; we actually got a waterside table before our scheduled reservation time and the other meals were great, but I was very disappointed in the surf and turf. I didn't complain, though, because my 1-year-old grandson was with us and he had already neared his limit for such things. I would have sent the meal back, and that isn't like me, if we'd had time. In fact, we had the worst food this trip I've ever had in a Disneyland visit. Uva Bar was HORRIBLE. RFC was HORRIBLE. Maybe it's because it was January!

ETA: The food at Tangaroa Terrace was not at all up to the usual quality I've had in the past.

What is Creme Anglaise and why is it worth $7.00?

Quality control problems in the kitchens? My DH was served a lobster tail at BB that was not even identifiable as a lobster tail -- just a blob of goo. He sent it back and they replaced it with a beautiful lobster tail and then he enjoyed his meal very much. I know what you mean, though, about at a certain point just letting it go to keep the peace. Sorry you had more misses than hits this time around.
