Has anyone ever successfully ordered (or tried to order) the 3 Cheese Monte Cristo at BB?

This is one of my favorite Disneyland indulgences and I order often at CO. On my next trip I will be bringing a friend on her first trip to DLR and would really like to take her to BB. I'm a vegetarian so I can't order the regular MC. And there isn't anything else on the BB menu that appeals to me so eating at both doesn't really make sense.

Appreciate the help!

(p.s. Long time lurker on these boards and have gotten a ton of great planning advice without ever having to post a question! Thanks for everything!)

Welcome to the Dis !:cheer2:

I had the 3 cheese in August. Delicious! If you wonder if something else might be available as a vegan option, just ask your server. A lot of times the Chef will come to your table and offer suggestions. Same as if you have other dietary restrictions, such as food allergies etc. They've been very helpful when someone in our group has had questions as to modifying something on the menu.
Enjoy your meal and time there !

Cinder-ellah, you had the 3 cheese MC at blue bayou? I was wondering the same thing since my hubby wants to each at blue bayou.

I have heard conflicting reports on this. I have heard people say that no they can't do it. And I've also read that yes they can, but that the sandwiches are prepped early in the day, and so they would just pick the meat off, so if you are strictly vegetarian this might concern you since the sandwich would be "contaminated ". Sorry to confuse you but i dont know what they true story is. To be safe i would just eat at cafe Orleans which does have the cheese version, plus the added bonus of the pomme frites! Or if you are set on eating there, make the reso for later in your trip so you can cancel if need be, and early in your trip stop by for a chat with one of the cm's at the restaurant and find out the truth. As a vegetarian myself i sympathize with you, the menu for vegetarians stinks. I treated my kids to a dessert only experience once because there was nothing on the menu i wanted, but I really wanted to tryout out BB. We had a great time and it was a good compromise.

I'm not a fan of the vegetarian menu item they have now. It's basically been the same thing for over 10 years, they just keep renaming it with the same ingredients. The two other options for a vegetarian are an adult portion of the kids' mac and cheese, or you could ask to "split" the other entree for $12, but have it plated as just the salad and sides for the vegetarian. Of course, not all of the sides are vegetarian. It's not a ton of food to just have bread, salad and a side, and, let's be honest, dessert, but it's also only $12.

We have been to Cafe' Orleans several times but my hubby really wants to try BB. I don't like Portobello mushrooms so that menu options is off the table. What do they offer for dessert? Not on any of the online menus.

Yes ! It was delicious!
If ever you have any dietary needs, allergies or questions, you can always note that at the time you make a reservation. Sometimes they'll call you about it. If not just ask your server for help w menu items. We've had the server get a chef and they've come to our table (as of last April) to help my Mom as she as some food allergies. The chef was very attentive and didn't appear rushed. That might not always be the case, but we were seated right at opening.
The Monte Cristo, I always get with no meat and the 3 cheeses. The server's have acted like that is not uncommon. Delicious!
That was just my experiences.

Ewwww, picking off the meat does not sound appetizing. I'll try to keep that image out of my head, LOL. The sandwich did seem very fresh and was tasty.

And yes, I've been know to go there just for dessert and didn't feel odd about it. And the server was nice with us just doing that.

Desserts when we were there :
Creme brulee
A type of Chocolate cake (hazelnut ?)
Seems like there was something else. That's all I remember at the moment.

If you have some one celebrating a birthday besure and tell your server.
2 in our group we're celebrating. We each got a delicious chocolate cupcake with Mickey Sprinkles.

Desserts have been the same the last few times we went. Meyer lemon creme brulee, apple galette, chocolate hazelnut cake. I've had the creme brulee and apple galette and enjoyed both. I don't like chocolate so I haven't tried the cake but my friend gets it every time and really likes it. She says its very rich though.

We are gluten free due to sensitivity, and I'd heard that you can email Disney dining and ask about getting a gluten-free version of the Monte Cristo at Blue Bayou. I did this, and got a nice response. Part of the response was obviously a pre-written dietary policies explanation, but part of it was saying, "Yes, we can do that for you, we'll alert the chefs at BB, and just remind your server about it." When I made our reservation I noted our GF restriction, and when we checked in they confirmed with us and it was noted on our order ticket. The manager came out personally to tell me that the chefs were aware of my special request, and had the materials ready, but it would take awhile to make it special. It was really good.

I bet that if you emailed ahead, they'd be willing to accommodate your special request for the three cheese Monte Cristo.

It probably wouldn't hurt!

I follow this awesome veggie Disneyland Instagram account (www.instagram.com/vegetariandisney) and they posted a picture of the 3 Cheese MC at Blue Bayou so I'm feeling hopeful.

I highly recommend following if anyone needs inspiration or just wants to feel hungry!

so that's a 'thing' too? I was wanting to try that, but was unsure if it's frowned upon

I did the same thing for the GF monte cristo! They just wanted to know the reservation number and how many wanted the sandwich. The only difference is that I ordered it for our Cafe Orleans meal. I can't wait to try it tuesday!

Here's what the Blue Bayou one looked like. It was a little weird, very narrow? Like maybe they used GF hot dog buns or long deli rolls? But it was hot and fresh and tasted good.
