My DD, who lives in Missoula, just called because they had a 5.0 earthquake in Missoula about 15 minutes ago and she wanted to know if we were alright! I guess it came out of Salmon, Idaho. We did not feel a thing here. Is everyone in Idaho alright??

I just sent my Mom in Rollins an e-mail to see if she felt it. Did your daughter say if there was any damage in Missoula? Im used to calling her and telling her about our earthquakes not the other way around!

She was pretty upset. I could hear in her voice that something was wrong before she asked about us being OK. She said their walls shook and the items (pics, keys, etc.) shook and rattled. I don't think there was damage but we might not hear until tomorrow.

She said it was being reported that it shook up to Polson and up the Bitterroot. But, surprisingly, we did not feel a thing. I don't understand that.

I was able to get onto a site re: earthquakes and it is confirmed that they had a 5.6 earthquake. However it did not list any damages/live reports yet. Prayers to all those nearby!

Yes, I hope everything and everyone is going to be alright. It is so unusual to hear of an earthquake up this way! I hope people from Idaho check in tomorrow OK!

::yes:: That really is quite odd for the area! It will be interesting to see what the news reports about it in the next few days!

I lived in Delano (up towards Bakersfield) when they had the BIG earthquake in Southern California ages and ages ago. We were in the middle of the state and it moved my bed across the room....with me in it! They are weird!

Keep us updated. We have friends in Hamilton too and it looks like it might have been centered down that way.

Ok, we'll see what they announce on the news and in the local paper tomorrow. The Kalispell paper has a link online but it is not a real informative site all the time AND THEY HAVE A POP UP TRYING TO SELL THE PAPER THAT GREETS YOU:

I live in Boise and didn't even know that we had an earthquake. WOW! I am so far south of where the earthquake was, we didn't feel it here. I hope everyone is okay up in N.Idaho and Montana!

I'm in Boise too and didnt feel a thing.

I called my mom in CDA though because they said on the news " North Idaho shaken by Earthquake!"

Yeah, theres a slight difference between NORTH Idaho and Salmon.

They said on the news some people felt it in downtown Boise.

I have only heard one little mention on the local morning news and they say it was centered just north of Dillon (MT) and there are no reports of injuries. They showed an interview of a man that has lived in Missoula for 30 years and has never felt an earthquake there. He said pictures fell off the walls and items fell off of a desk.

I guess there have been aftershocks of 4.2.....I am still not feeling them up in the Flathead.

Yellowstone is quite close by, isn't it? I would think that if anything were to cause an earthquake, it would be an active seismic region such as Yellowstone.

I didn't feel it either. The news said people in our area did though. I have my doubts they really did, lol.

WOW! That is more information than is being released in Montana! We have not felt anything where we are (north western Kalispell) and I am surprised. We have a fault to the west of us (Kila) that usually has small activities to it. But, this one was a fairly big one....and no one in Kalispell seems to have noticed it! :confused3
