I just saw a video of the Monsters Inc. ride at Disneyland....holy cow!!! It makes us so happy that they can still make dark rides like that.

Because our main concern is always that the old-school imagineers are gone and now they just make thrill rides. Another thing that they do lately is make rides that don't take you anywhere, but instead use video screens to make you think that you are going somewhere (Soarin' and Mission: Space).

The Monsters Inc. ride is so true to the art form that made Disney theme parks famous. We are Disney World fanatics and have never been to Disneyland. When did that ride get put in and why haven't more people said how great it is? We hope it makes it's way to Disney World one day.

Well, it went in about four months ago, in the place of Superstar Limo in California Adventure(which was pretty dismal). I think fewer people are excited about it because it is sort of a throwback to the old dark rides(Winnie the Pooh is never busy at D Land) and though well done, with some ultra cool things, the line is long(a rare kids oriented ride in California Adventure) and is as the CM said "Old School"(translated...no fastpass) and ultimately kind of ordinary. I mean, I love everything, and I would ride it again...and at the end Roz came on to me, so that was a dream come true...but it isn"t phenomenal in my opinion :hippie: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

i second that. the waiting line seemed to have about the same effort put into it as the rest of the ride did, and im not saying the ride was awesome. i think they could've done much more, it was just eh :confused3 . i met a guy who is friends with an imagineer and he said it was Eisners last project, maybe that says something...

We liked the ride. I love the doors near the end. They captured the movie really well, and I think that when you factor in that they were recycling an old ride its very well done. The queue area really needs some work. Its just to long and boring and HOT. We were there in March. The only time I ever felt even warm was standing in that long line in the sun.

By the way, Buzz Astro Blasters is only a year old, and is also a classic dark ride. Yes, it has guns, but over all, "just" a dark ride.

My DD6 and I went on this ride just after it opened. We didn't have to wait too long as it was during an employees' night, but we both thought it was kinda boring, especially since it's basically just a summary of the movie. I mean, it was cute that one time, but she hasn't expressed an interest in going on it again and I'm thankful for that given the wait times now.

A video clip I shot of Monsters Inc on California Adventure's Birthday, back in February.

I think it's a fun attraction with a short wait. But it's average wait time, even since the preview weeks before it officially opened, seems to always be in the 30-45 minutes range though.

It has some cool & fun visuals and really great sound & FX and scents for a simple dark ride.

The next to be built, rumored, DCA dark ride sounds fun as well. :wizard:

Thanks for the video clip! My toddler loved it! :) I'm so glad to know that it isn't a "spinning" ride! At Universal last year, the employee said that our then 1 and 10mo. old would "do fine" on the Cat in the Hat ride. We believed her. It was a spinning ride and he got scared! If I knew that it spinned, I wouldn't have gotten him on it.

BTW...do you know where I might be able to find more video clips of rides? It helps me in deciding whether or not my toddler should go on them. Thanks! :)

We thought it was a cute ride, but agree with other posters that it was not worth the almost 70 minutes we had to wait in line the first time we rode it. Once was enough for us with such a long wait. Ds would rather spend that time waiting in line for California Screamin'.

Too long of a line both times we went, (once with my DS and once with DH) and not worth the wait. The line wraps around and around forever! Yes it's cute, but I would only wait for it if it was 40mins or less. It was 1-1/2 to 2hrs both times we went.
