Monsters Inc ? for DL/DCA Veterans

I was working on my TR for our recent first visit to DLR and a thought occurred. The Monster's Inc. ride at DCA has TVs on the sides of your ride vehicle/taxi. They show a short video at the start of the ride, but soon after turn off and are never used again. It felt to me like these maybe were designed to be used more throughout the ride, but maybe they decided the affect wasn't working.

Does anyone out there know enough about this ride to state whether that's the case. Did they at one point have a more relevant function on the ride? Thanks!

Just chiming in that this is one of my favorite rides at DCA. Our family can't wait for Monsters University (summer 2013) I wish they had more Monsters Inc merchandise.

We rode Monsters when it first opened, waited in the horrendous line for about 2 hours.....LOL Not worth that at all, but now we enjoy it. The TV screens were never used during the full ride, just the part at the beginning. Bob's link was very helpful, I never knew it was a ride before.

Ugh, that looked awful! It's funny having just been to DCA for the first time, and thinking "I know it had a terrible reputation at first, but this is actually a pretty nice park!" This ride is an example, I really like the Monster's Inc ride! It really felt like a classic "dark ride", actually capturing it better than I think the Little Mermaid did...

Just chiming in that this is one of my favorite rides at DCA. Our family can't wait for Monsters University (summer 2013) I wish they had more Monsters Inc merchandise.

With the release of Monsters University, don't worry about more merchandise, there will be plenty!
