Monster Cafe no longer seasonal

We love Monster Cafe. So neat to hear it will be open full time again. Seems like it has been closed more than it has been open the last 2-3 years. The atmosphere is terrific -- lots of Universal monsters memorabilia. We're not crazy about the food, so we get a piece of cake and some coffee, but we definitely go for the atmosphere.

I've been to IOA at least 15 times in the last year and have never seen it open either. Same thing with Tortuga Tavern att MK. I think I have the worst timing ever, lol.

I just ate at Monster cafe last week and got the 1/2 rotisserie chicken to split with my son. It was lovely! The breast part was a bit on the dry side but not too much and was still good. The dark meat was super delicous and I don't usually like dark meat much. It came with broccoli which was yummy....but very soft which is how I like it. If you like your broccoli on the crunchy side you won't like it. We got french fries instead of mashed potatoes and those were super good too. Crinkle ones and they stayed crisp.

Sounds great. Hope to make it there on my next Mardi Gras trip.

Just tried the Monster Cafe this past week, and enjoyed the meatloaf platter with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We also got a chocolate cupcake, but liked the main platter better than the dessert.

It would be nice if the televisions had a themed video playing, rather than just a generic Universal Studios park advertisement.

That's a shame. They used to show old monster movie clips. Hopefully they will bring these back.

I'm so happy! That's fantastic! The Universal Monsters Cafe is my absolute favorite place to eat at Universal. This is great news.

Is the move from seasonal operation based on guest suggestion or is there some ulterior motive?

I'm going to guess it's because of the loss of some of the eateries in Amity, including a place that served Nathan's hot dogs and a place that served chicken, and maybe an expected influx of guests when Despicable Me opens this summer.

Well, whatever the reason may be, I'm still excited about this.

So what exactly is our source for this information? According to the Universal website it is still open "seasonally." Is there something in-park telling of its new hours?

Phamton is a TM at Universal and would know w/o a shadow of a doubt. I'm planning on going over sometime this weekend since it's supposed to be near 80 both days. I would imagine a sign out front is the only notification of the new hours. I'll see what I can find out.

stay away from the chicken.
but if you insist, request it be made fresh.
if it sites under the lights very long, it drys out.

Just ate at the Monster Cafe last week and have to say the meatloaf/mashed pot/broccoli were decent, actually tastey. A refreshing change from burgers and fries or chicken fingers and fries for lunch.
