Monsieur Paul...opinions please.

My husband and I are in the we just didn't like it camp. It was the last signature restaurant that we hadn't tried so we were really looking forward to it last year but it is a do not return in our book. The entrance was nice and we were seated promptly but things went downhill from there. The staff seemed a little indifferent and bored and our waitress never smiled or had any personality. We also felt like we were having a bottle of wine pushed on us but I prefer white and my husband red wine so we asked for a recommended glass each to go with our meal. I specifically said in the mid price range and was a bit surprised to see my glass of wine was $65 and my husbands was $75 when we received the bill. Glad we were never asked if we wanted another glass! The food was ok, not really bad but not memorable and the seating was very close together. We had planned on having dessert but both decided to go downstairs and have ice cream instead because it was so hard to get our waitresses attention.

We have been to Yachtsman a couple of times and loved it and will return there again. Surprisingly we saw more children at MP than we ever have at the Yachtsman but we tend to eat at a later time.

I would hope you questioned the bill. When we ate there last fall, I don't recall any wine on the menu at that price by the glass. Actually, the wines by the glass seemed reasonable by Disney standards. Even at Disney markups, that would put the wine at about $200 retail at a standard wine shop or $600+ at WDW.

Yeah I would so not have been happy. They probably charged you for two bottles and had a party in the back. ;)

Both times we felt that our server acted quite superior and a little disdainful of us and I'd say that your description also hits the mark. It was quite disappointing because we'd had such fabulous and attentive service the previous time we'd been before it became M. Paul. The food, however, was very good. Best beef tenderloin I've ever had and the potatoes were to die for (full disclosure: potatoes are one of my favourite foods so I can be easily won over by tasty potatoes). But the snobby service really turned us off. We tried a second time in case we had a one-time dud of a server but had the same experience. While I really liked the food, I didn't think they had any reason to act so superior and snobby. I've never had that kind of attitude or service at Victoria & Albert's which is a much higher cut above or at other places outside of WDW that are higher end. So I'm a little ambivalent about going back again.

My feelings exactly! I was worried that Victoria and Albert's would be intimidating and snobby but we loved it. The only other time we had a server that made us feel that way was on one late night visit to Flying Fish. We love Flying Fish and have only once had bad service there so I just chalked it up to a one night thing.
