DH and I are looking to end our last night at Disney enjoying a signature dinner. We will be staying at The Boardwalk Inn and have eaten at the Flying Fish our last two trips. We really want to try another restaurant this trip. We have looked at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and now looking at Monsieur Paul. I know Pete from the Disboards has said it is great, but I would like more feedback.

We already have Narcoossee’s reserved for our last night at the Grand Floridian(doing a split stay). Thank you for your advice. :flower3:

DH and I enjoyed dinner here in 2014. The menu hasn't changed much since then. I would highly recommend it. The venue is unique (upstairs in the France pavilion), the atmosphere is elegant and more quiet than many others. Servers are professional and the food was very, very good. My DH loved his Duck and I loved my fish. We had our server suggest wine and we had a decadent chocolate dessert to share.

I'll be the dissenting one here. We weren't impressed, our service was not so good which made the whole experience less than great. Our food was o.k. not great but not bad. Illuminations started about halfway through our meal so if you had a table by a window that might be fun. It wasn't very quiet for us, at the table next to us there was a family with two kids who alternated with whining (can't blame them it was late for kids) and wallowing around on the bench seat and kicking me. There was a lady in the next section who was having a great time and her laugh was kind of like geese, everyone in the whole place was kind of embarrassed. My appetizer was very good I think it was a squash bisque, my son's was just so so escargot which he normally loves. I had the duck,

which was pretty good but very fatty and a little tough, I can't remember what my son had but he didn't finish it. We wanted dessert but our server was so bad we couldn't get her attention to order it, even after someone else came and cleared our plates away so we gave up and just asked for our check. Certainly not the worst meal we've had on property or the worst service but not the best at either or even good on the service side.

I'll be Dissenter #2. Unlike loves to dive, our meal there does stand as the worst we've had at Disney. Food was sloppy: scallops were tiny, overcooked, and served room temperature; duck was overcooked, rubbery, and bland. Service was a bust. Offered two small rolls to start, and despite mentioning we'd like more midway through our meal, our server never brought more. Waters were never refilled. In fact, our server disappeared for long periods of time, and that comment coming from two people who enjoy leisurely meals. We would have enjoyed another glass of wine, but we didn't get the chance to order until our plates were eventually cleared following entrees. It didn't have a Signature feel that night, either--loud patrons, including one fairly boisterous table of 8 where the adults kept routinely dropping cursing barrages; one table where the male was wearing a sweaty tank top and cut-off blue jean shorts and another where mom was yelling at kids while wearing flip-flops, running shorts, and a swim top with a gauzy cover. And, none of the CMs we encountered seemed to be having a good day, as they were either indifferent or bored. It would have been a mediocre experience at a diner; given it happened at a Signature, I rank it as poor.

To be fair, any restaurant can have an off night. It's quite possible we did catch them on one of "those" evenings, and generally, we're proponents of giving a place a second chance if there are missteps. Still, at least some part of the experience should have been memorable in a good way, yet nothing was. However, overall it does get above average ratings, and if you've never been, I say try it for yourself. Nonetheless, I can't recommend Monsieur Paul.

Yachtsman & Monsieur Paul are both very good.

Yachtsman does meat'n'potatoes nicely, Monsieur Paul is well, French.

I prefer the 'refined' tastes that come with French cuisine, but there is nothing bad about Yachtsman.

However, unless you are using Disney Dining Plan, I'd suggest Shula's for a better steak than Yachtsman, and/or BlueZoo for a new interpretation of 'refined' cuisine - if you want to dine along/near the Boardwalk.

I agree with looking at Swan and Dolphin for upscale eating experiences. Loved BlueZoo.

We ate there a couple of years ago - have no recollection of the food but the service was so fast that we did not enjoy the experience- we ordered apps, wine entree and dessert and were done in under an hour- not worth the price!

Well I ate there in October and it was really good!!
I was afraid I would not like it but I did.
The service was Great from start to finish.
It was one of my best meals at Disney ever.
I played it safe and had the Oxtail broth soup, filet, and the chocolate sphere dessert. The beef was very good and very tender and cooked just to my liking. The sauce and potatoes were really good too!! I did splurge for a nice shot of cognac with dessert.
It is on my list of must do’s in the future.

Loved the 3 meals we have had there. 2 were specials meals: NYE and F&W Parisian Afternoon. Always great service.

Monsieur Paul was a major disappointment for us. DW is gluten intolerant and the server was very disdainful about even assisting or having a chef come out to talk to her about dining options. My duck was seriously overcooked. Wine by the glass service was not good. Even though I was the only one drinking, the server wanted me to order a full bottle of wine rather than doing wine by the glass, then he never even offered me an opportunity to order a second glass.

As you asked for a personal opinion....

Get OUT of Epcot. There are no true SIGS here. Take boat at IG, go to Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club.
Enjoy a REAL fine dinning experience.
All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

Loved it before and eaten there several times. We ate there in October. Minimal changes to the atmosphere. Loved the menu one of the best meals we have had at WDW. Wonderful wait staff. Didn't interfere in the table, but had everything we needed. As good as California Grill and others. On our to do again list.

we are kind of "eh" on MP. It is never bad, but it also has never knocked our socks off. We do like the option of a quieter restaurant in Epcot, but like every other place in Epcot they can REALLY cram you in there, and you are just very aware of the people around you, because you are on top of them! If I was given the choice? I would probably go to Yachtsman if I am just talking about restaurants. If, however, you want to be in the park and not worry about changing into nicer clothes while still enjoying a nicer meal, than MP can be a great option. It's been a few years since I have been there, and I don't remember what I ate at all, if that gives you any indication of how "good" it was for me. With that being said, we've been there a few times, so while it wasn't necessarily memorable, it also wasn't offensive, we went back, and I would consider it again for an evening in epcot.

We were at MP’s in October, and it was our favorite meal of the trip. The food and experience was much better than our meal at Cali Grill.

We enjoyed our meal at monsieur Paul. We had a window seat and the service was excellent. This was in mid December. I enjoyed a bit more than yachtsman. Yachtsman is nice with larger groups. We really loved a meal we had at the Four Seasons at the upstairs restaurant.
