Hello
Firstly a thank you!
My husband and I are coming to Ca from the UK for the West coast cruise, we are spending 3 nights at the Candy Cane Inn and thanks to this wonderful board and the people on it all my queries have been answered without me having to ask a single question, but now I have one I hope someone can help with.
I want to take the Monorail from the park to DTD so we can have dinner at Goofys Kitchen, and then back to the park again, this will be around 6pm on Wed 27th July, what are the wait times for the monrail like, is there a better way to do this? Any imput gratefully received

Get in line for the monorail at least 30 minutes prior to your PS time to be safe. It only takes the monorail a few minutes to get to the DTD station, but takes several minutes to load and then it will take you a few minutes to exit the station and walk to Goofy's. They like you to check in a few minutes before your PS time.

The lines for the monorail can really vary - later in the day it gets backed up and depending on how many monorails they are running can also impact wait times.
I would be in Tomorrowland 45 mins or so before my PS at GK to check out the line situation. I like to have a little time to spare rather than stressing over possible wait times.
If there is no line then you can probably board the next one and be over there in a few minutes. The folks staying at the DL Resort hotels have an express line on the other side so even if the regular line looks short there may also be people waiting in the resort express line so plan accordingly. Either way you will know if you need to get in line right away.
It does take a few minutes (not too long) to get over to the DTD station and then walk over to GK. It's probably about a 5 minute walk from the DTD monorail station to GK.
If you are a little early you can stroll around the DL Hotel or DTD to check stuff out. GK is very popular and may also have a small line to check in around that time. Have fun!!!

You'll be walking through DTD, but if you have some time and want to take a nice stroll (build up an appetite!)

I'm guessing it's anywhere from 15-20 minutes' walk. Hope this helps.

We were in line for the monorail on our way to Goofy's Kitchen and it seemed we might be about 5-10 minutes late for our reservation. The CM as the entrance to the monorail called over to Goofy's Kitchen to let them know we were on our way and would be a little late. What a wonderful thing to do for us (seeing as though we were a group of 9)!

Also keep in mind that if there is a 45 min wait when you get there you could also walk it. It will depend on the ages of the kids, but if they are up for a walk it is really not that far...

The only time I have seen very long waits for the monorail have been late evening (especially after parades/FWs or at closing) and early morning. Dinnertime and right after the afternoon parade is sometimes a little longer than mid morning - mid afternoon; You might have to wait for the second train rather than the first. Since you will be walking plenty, it's nice to take the monorail at this time. I agree with iceskatejen's suggestion to get in line a good 30 minutes before your PS. If you do find the lines unusually long for some reason, you could still walk.

Thank you everyone I knew you'd come through, that was just what I needed to know wait times vs walk times. So If I check approx 45-30 mins on the monorail line if it looked really bad we could walk, and Goofys kitchen just a couple of mins from monorail. BTW no kids unless you count Hubby!

I bet you have been to WDW a few times and are trying to compare the Monorail at DL to the Monorail at WDW. The DTD at DL is very close in comparison to WDW. I would not stress about the Monorail ride. Walk or ride should not be a problem. Have a great time! DO walk around the DL Hotel it is a must see!
