Monorail vs ferry -and general MK leaving tips

I don't know which one is quicker but when we were there in Nov 08 we left just before wishes started ( on the ferry) and we watched Wishes from the ferry. It was great. :goodvibes

I know that if you get on a resort boat right before wishes the captain will take a longer route so you can see wishes from the boat:thumbsup2 its not the best view but its still cool

im sure wishes from the ferry must be amazing

You're forgiven;)

So are you saying to watch it from the TTC? I never thought of that. I was thinking you meant the MK side.

Yep, I was trying to stress that point (glad it worked) from there you have a really cool view over the lake.... sorry, lagoon.

Not sure if the pic will work (and it's not the best) but you'll get the idea.

You can't see the castle in this pic (because of the smoke) but it's centered over the train station. If I get a chance I'll look for a better picture.

But the view is nice, the reflection is cool, there's plenty of safe room for the kids to burn off steam while you wait, and when it's over you get to your car in minutes.

They pipe in the music at the TTC on the dock, so you can actually stand inside the gates and watch with a wonderful view and have the music.

Being on the ferry and watching the fireworks is absolutely one of the best views. I've been working when we were stuck in the middle of the lake waiting for the MK dock to clear and I could hear the music from the fireworks cruises! not only was it the same view for free, but I was getting paid!:cool1:

As for the cruisers, it is a delicate balance. If you're on the campground route, sometimes we will go around Discovery island so that we're still moving forward, but it takes a little longer. I don't generally do it because, forgive me for being crude, but if you wanna watch the fireworks, either stay on the dock or get to MK earlier. I don't like to deviate from the cycle because of fireworks, shows, or any other reason. It's not because I don't want to make magic...far from it. It's because even though some might wanna watch the fireworks, some might be in a hurry and get upset that we slowed down, and they are the ones who will complain. So I just make it simple and do what I do every other round and stick to doing what I'm supposed to do, which is get guests to their destination as safely and as efficiently as possible.

I love that picture, the shadow of the castle is so mysterious and pretty

:thumbsup2 If Im on the boat its because I dont want to see the fireworks and I just want to get back to my hotel. I remember a few trips ago after a day at DHS we took the boat back from MK (after taking the monorail there from TTC) to FW. We were so tired and just wanted to get back to our cabin, but our boat stopped by discovery island to let everyone watch the fireworks:rolleyes: The fireworks are great, but on a night like that we were too tired to watch them

Can anyone tell me what the actual amount of time it takes for the ferry to get from the TTC to the MK? (I mean actual "sailing" time.)

Thanks.

Don't count on the 'captain' always doing this as...some do ....some don't.

Actual "sailing" time depends on how many ferry boats are operating. Depending on the time of day/night, up to 3 ferry boats (FB) may be operating:

1 FB: 5-6 minutes

2 FB: depends on whether or not one FB must wait for the other to pull out of the MK or TTC Main Slip...time varies from 5/6 min (1 FB) to 10/15 minutes (3 FB).

3 FB: 10/15 minutes during peak periods - openings; following WISHES/fireworks; closings.

Loading/Unloading a full ferry boat adds to the total transit time as the TTC Main Slip and MK Main Slip are occuppied and one ferry boat must wait on one of the others to leaving the slip before docking.
