Have had a tough time trying to find specific estimates for monorail travel times from MK to the resorts. Anyone able to estimate from experience? Of the four, one of our kids is only 8 mos and we're thinking of having one adult take him back to the resort for naps intermittently throughout the day. Thanks

Really just depends on if you have to wait for the monorail and which resort. The resort line goes mk>contemporary>poly>gf.

Remember you'll have to wait for people to disembark and load in. That can take some time. If there's monorail traffic you have to wait for that too and there's no telling how long that can take.

If I'm going from MK to Poly - I try to plan for 45 minutes from the time I get to the loading area at MK until I depart at Poly.

Also, I'd walk from MK to CR.

Most times it is about 5 mins a stop.

A few times a day it “holds”to add or take off a mono from the line.

There are the boats from MK to poly and gf. It goes MK to gf to poly in a loop.

So if leaving MK to gf’ the boat is faster. For poly either about the same.

CR walking or mono.

It depends on which resort you are staying at and how hot/tired you (or the small child) might be when returning. Generally, during the day, monorails departing Magic Kingdom are less crowded with little/no wait since most people are either still arriving or at the park. Other posters have mentioned the various transportation options, monorail runs in one direction with set stops. The Contemporary, for example, is the first monorail stop after Magic Kingdom, compared to Floridian with is the last stop before Magic Kingdom. Monorail allows you to sit and has AC and stops inside the Contemporary. There is also a walkway between Magic Kingdom and Contemporary. With all 3 resorts you still have to walk to your room once you depart the monorail. We were just at Disney last month and found convenience/comfort to be more of a deciding factor rather than whether it takes 5 or 20 minutes to get to your destination.

Depending where you are in the park when you decide to leave for a nap, there is also the time it will take to walk to the park exit.

Will the infant be using a stroller? Is it possible he might be likely tk sleep in the stroller, reducing or eliminating the need to return to the room several times a day?

Leaving MK during the day to get back to a room at Poly or GF, I’d plan on at least 30-ish minutes. That’s walking out of the park, waiting for the monorail, riding the monorail with all stops, and walking back to the room once you are at the resort. That’s assuming there are no delays. For the CR I would just walk on the path, as personally I think it’s much easier and one of the greatest benefits of staying at the CR. Takes about 10 minutes or less once you leave MK, if you walk at a reasonable pace. But TBH, at that age all five of my kids just napped in the stroller. We have stayed at all the monorail resorts with babes under a year old and it was more of a hassle to try and get back to the room for naps than to just let them nap in the stroller whenever they were tired.

No more than 30 minutes to get back to the Poly - and if you are lucky with timings of the trains, 15 mins.

Personally I preferred taking the boat back to the Poly, and it wasn't much longer.

Going back to the resort middle of the day was worth it - one of the biggest benefits of staying at a monorail resort for easy access to both MK and EPCOT. Poly was ideal for that, as you could get to EPCOT on the monorail really easily from there too - found it quicker just to walk to the TTC, rather than get the monorail loop, and change trains.

But then it took longer to get to AK from the Poly, so we didn't do a break in the middle of that day, and felt worse for it.
