Monorail to Flying Fish

I know you have to go through the TTC, but where does the Monorail drop you off? I'd assumed I could walk from Epcot to the Boardwalk, but I read elsewhere that it's more like a 20 minute walk instead of a short 5 minute walks? If it's the former, I guess I'd just take a cab from the CR.

The monorail drops you at the front of Epcot so you'd have to walk back to WS to get out through the International Gateway then over to the Boardwalk. I'd say it would take you about 20 minutes depending on how fast you walk. If it's a pleasant evening and you have time, it's a nice walk (we like walking) but yes, it will take some time.

the Flying Fish is located on the Boardwalk. The monorail only drops you off at the entrance to Epcot, and the Boardwalk is behind Epcot's Worldshowcase, which is quite a walk.

From the Contemp. just walk over to the MK and take a bus to the BWI. The walk from the CR to the bus area at MK is no longer than 7 minutes. To take the monorail to EC and walk is a pretty long walk. You would have to walk the 15-20 mins to the IGW in the WS and then another 10-15 mins from the gateway to the Boardwalk.

As others have said, to get from the monorail station to the Boardwalk, you have to enter Epcot, walk through Future World to World Showcase and then exit Epcot via the International Gateway (walk takes about 15 - 20 minutes). It is then a 5 - 7 minute walk from there to Flying Fish.

Since you have to go through Epcot, you will need to have valid park admission. Thus, if you have a park hopper ticket you will be fine, but if not (and you didn't go to Epcot earlier in the day), you won't be permitted to enter Epcot in order to walk through.

It's roughly a mile from the Epcot monorail station to FF, and unless you have a park hopper pass, you wouldn't be able to enter Epcot if you'd visited another theme park earlier in the day.

As the PP said, it's a very short walk from CR to the MK bus loading area, and easy to get a BWI bus there. Personally, I'd take a cab, but if you'd rather not, catching the bus at MK is a good option.

I know this is non-monorail, but we just take a bus to the studios then take the boat to the Boardwalk area- it's a nice pleasant ride.

or... if you're in the mood to check out other Resorts, take the monorail to the TTC, and then the bus to The Beach Club - walk through The Beach Club Lobby, out the back, and a very short walk to the dock to take the boat from The Beach Club to The Boardwalk....
or... anyway... I'm sure you get the picture by now. The Monorail is super for MK Resorts, The MK, the TTC, and even EPCOT... but not so good for DHS, AK, DTD and a few other places....

There are no buses at TTC to any resort. All resort buses to and from MK are located at the MK bus stops between the MK entrance and the Contemporary. To ride the monorail in this fashion you would have to take the monorail to MK, walk across the MK entrance plaza to the bus stop, and take the Boardwalk bus (which might be shared with the Swan/Dolphin). At TTC you could take a bus to Studios and the boat or walk to Boardwalk, but you could just get on a Studios bus at Contemporary or take the shorter walk from Contemporary to MK and get on a Boardwalk bus. In other words, using the TTC won't really work.

It would be much faster to walk from Beach Club to Boardwalk than to take the boat across the lake.

There is no way you can take a monorail to Flying Fish without entering Epcot, so you must have Epcot admission, and it is longer than a 5 minute walk through Epcot. The only real way to do it is this:

Monorail to Epcot
Bus from Epcot to Studios
Boat or walk from Studios to Boardwalk

Even to do this, you have to walk from the Epcot monorail to the Epcot -Studios bus stop, which is not a short walk. You would then also have to walk from the Studios bus stop to the Studios boat dock.

We've done the reverse, from BW to the Contemporary for a California Grill dinner, and especially if we're "dressed up" for a signature (dressed up for WDW that is), we don't want to ride on the busses, do transfers, etc. Cab is the easiest way. The valet staff will call one for you if there isn't one waiting, but there usually will be cabs waiting at either location. Especially getting back to the resort after dinner, cab will definitely be the easiest way to go.

I agree. We always have a car but sometimes for one reason or another a cab works out better at least once a trip and that is what we do. Super easy and fast.

I agree that taking a taxi from the Contemporary to the Boardwalk would be your fastest option.

However if you still want to use WDW transportation you can also take the bus from the Contemporary - Hollywood Studios, then from there you can take the walkway over to the Boardwalk. Plus you won't need to use any park admission because you won't actually be going inside Hollywood Studios.

Wow, thanks for all of your responses!

I will take a cab - like I do for all my dinner reservations on most of my vacations. My feet will need all the rest they can get and, after having changed into a decent outfit, I'm not going to feel like working up a decent sweat again.

I'm very happy with my monorail resort - but of course, nothing is ever perfect.

I believe the Boardwalk is within walking distance of Beaches and Cream? The ice cream is calling my name, lol.

Yes, B&C is at the Beach Club just on the other side of Crescent Lake. And I agree, the cab is probably your best bet. I've done the Contemporary to Boardwalk via Monorail thing, and the first time I thought it was a lot of fun, but the park was empty and I had a beer along the way

Thanks! When you plan these things, it sounds easy - but when you actually have to do them, you find out it's just not so, lol. I'd rather pay for the cab then have to leave for my ADR an hour or so ahead of time.

Forget the "TTC / Bus" thing ! It's not happening !
And I'm going back to learning how to get around WDW again ! LOL !
