Monorail to Enter Park Question

Well, here I am admitting that though I've been to the park 5 times, I never rode the monorail! How does entering the park work if you ride the monorail in from DTD?

If the park opens at say, 8:00 AM, when does the monorail start running?

Do they have a turnstile when you get off the monorail in Tomorrowland to scan your ticket and stamp your hand when you're leaving? Or is the turnstile in DTD before you get on?

Thanks!

The monorail will start running when the park opens. There is a ticket agent at the monorail station in DTD. You will get your bags checked just like when you enter the plaza and you must show your ticket to be allowed on the monorail. You can also get your hand stamped when leaving the park as well.

Very cool, thanks! Especially helpful since I'm still throwing around staying on-site, and it would be cool to do this.

If you really want to beat the morning crowds, taking the monorail in the morning is not the best way to do it, even if you are staying onsite. The monorail leaves the DTD station at park opening, meaning you won't get off of the ride until 5-10 minutes into park opening. Then add the time it takes to walk to your first attraction and people will have beaten you to that ride 99 times out of 100.

However, if you are staying at DLH or PPH, it can help you at the end of the day when you are tired and want to ride it to DTD and then walk to your hotel. That can save your feet after a long day.

We didn't stay onsite but used it to go into DTD and eat. ESPN was by far our favorite food there!

Agree with DLR29...

We went to rope drop making our way over to Space Mountain, and looked over and saw that the monorail wasn't there yet.

If you're trying to make a headliner attraction, I definitely wouldn't take the monorail. If you're just trying to go at a leisurely pace, take the monorail.

We usually take the monorail out of the park in the afternoon when there's not too many people waiting to take it!
