Hi Y'all.

Geesh, I'm not even southern. Well, So Cal.

Anyway, how's is WDWs stock in powered monorails and accessories? Plus, where's the best places to go to get them?

On my trip in December I am planning on getting a monorail, Epcot add-on, a switching unit and maybe something else.

At the World of Disney at Downtown Dis in California all I saw was the basic set, the castle and HM.

I know, I know, you can't find WDW themed stuff at DL. At least I was hoping to find the switch unit and get that ahead of time.

That's fairly easy!
Once Upon a Toy at Downtown Disney has about everything you can imagine as far as Disney monorail sets and railroad sets. It's a very expensive place, if you're into toys!

Cool!!!

I'll definately have to go there.

JamesD, you said they are very expensive. Hopefully not more than on the west coast. The monorail over here is $60.

For some reason I want to get the set at WDW. More neaningful I guess.

No, I meant it is very damaging store to your pocketbook if you're a toy nut, not that their prices are high!
Have fun!

Can anyone confirm the price of the monorail set and is it electric or battery driven? I am hoping to buy the monorail and the GF on my next trip!

jockey,

I was at Downtown Disney in CA yesterday. I looked at the monorail set to confirm what I read somewhere.

It requires 2 AA batteries. It is not electric, there are no metal parts on the rail. Kinda bums since you can't change direction. Also good too since the cost is $60. If a controller and metal contacts put into the rail it would cost more.

I'm guessing the price is the same at WDW.

Did they ever make a HO Scale Monorail?

If you want to change the direction of the Monorail, you can buy the Transportation Ticket Center (TTC) accessory and some extra track. The TTC has the track switching option.

The only problem with this set up is that it takes up quite a bit of space. My son has two monorails and all the accessories, and it takes up most of the living room when he sets it up. It is a lot of fun, though!

I'm just getting my first monorail, bought it on Ebay. Still hasn't arrived, but I have some questions. If I were to buy another set, can I combine the tracks to make one large layout, then run both monorails on the same circuit? I read somewhere that the switch setup has to be changed manualy, is this true? The resort hotels and epcot ball are attached to the track layout in some form, but what about the attractions such as Dumbo, Haunted Mansion, Astro Orbitor, are they attached or do set off to the side, and how does the device work that runs between them and the monorail track, I think it is called a connector? I'll probably have more questions after the set arrives hopefully later this week. Thanks:confused:

The track has to be switched manually. We don't have every monorail accessory, only those that are actually on the Monorail line - CR, Poly, GF, TTC and Spaceship Earth.
