Monorail Route

I saw an episode on the Travel Channel about Disneyland and DCA and noticed the monorail going through DCA in front of Soarin' Over California. I honestly never noticed this before. What is the current route of the monorail?

It goes from the Tomorrowland station, out over the border of the park and Harbor Blvd., through DCA (Hollywood Pictures Backlot, over the Golden Gate) and on through the GCH. It curves at the end of DTD, right near the Lego store, where it goes to the station.

On the way back in, it goes kind of past where the tram/parking area is, past the entrance plaza, and into the park, over Autopia, and it snakes around a bit through Fantasyland, where you pass IASW and the Matterhorn and go over the sub lagoon, and then back into Tomorrowland Station.

You can easily see the Condor Flats hangar/Soarin' from the monorail after it passes over the Golden Gate Bridge when it's outbound from the park.

Don't forget that Monorail rides are one way. You must get off and get in the line again to return the same way if you wish.

It's only one way from DTD. You can ride it round trip from Tomorrowland if I'm not mistaken.

When we tried to board in Tomorrowland, the CM at the gate was telling everyone it was not a round trip, that we would have to get off in DTD and get in the line to come back. We opted not to at the time because we would miss the fireworks show. :guilty:

Yep, that is correct! :)

They were doing that for a while during Nemo construction, but it's back to running as a round trip again (though you must exit at Tomorrowland like the PP said).

Well, we were there this past Tuesday, and that is what happened to us. We were told no round trip rides. Perhaps that is said during the evenings when it is busier, closer to the fireworks time?

Were there long lines for the monorail? There is a sign somewhere I think that says that during crowded times they may only allow one-way trips.

Not really. I think it was a one monorail wait. It was around 8:30 pm. The wait for coming back from DTD was 20 min he said.

That's probably why then, it was probably a bunch of people trying to get back into the park for fireworks, so they weren't letting anyone stay on.

Plus they have to shut the monorail down at 9 for the fireworks. It's back up and running by 10, though.
