I am sure this is basic and I just don't get it, but I'm trying to match up certain meals at the Poly and Contemp. with our park days, and I'm just not sure how it all works. Help!

First, we're planning 'Ohana breakfast, and I think it's going to end up on the morning we're leaving open to return to whatever park we want to see more of. I know if it's Epcot or MK, that will be pretty easy. I'm thinking it might well be AK though. So if we have a ADR at 8 a.m., will we take a bus from POP to the TTC and then the monorail to the Poly? And then to get to AK, can we just take the AK bus from the Poly after breakfast? Will that work? If this is right, how long should we allow to get to the Poly from POP?

To get to Contemp. for dinner if we take a break to POP in the afternoon, would we take bus to TTC and then monorail to Contemp.? Is that the best way?

We've only been to Disney once before, and we never stepped foot out of the parks to go to any of the resorts. So I am clueless about transportation! Thanks!

You'd take the bus from POP to MK directly...buses from resorts don't go to the TTC.

When you check in ask for a "transportation schedule" much like a subway schedule which will give you LOTS of helpful information in figuring your way around the parks. I had one from a few years ago and could give you the info from that, but I'm not sure it is still accurate. I am sure someone on the boards can direct you to a thread or web site that has the current info. Just a word. The busses are ALWAYS crowded to the value resorts, and the wait time is especially long at park closing. If you have small children, I would really consider getting a rental!!! Just my 2 cents.

So we'd go all the way to the gate? Do we go inside the park (like through bag check)? Can anyone give me a "taking the monorail for dummies" tutorial? And maybe give me a rough idea of how long it takes from wherever you start in MK to the Poly or Contemporary? Trying to figure out what meals and times would be best.

Once you get off the bus at the Magic Kingdom station and if you were going to the Contemporary you can take the walkway which goes there and it takes about 8-10 minutes. You could also take the Resort Monorail, however I think walking there is faster since the Monorail station is on the other side of the bus station.

Now if you were going to the Polynesian once you arrive at the Magic Kingdom bus station just walk over to the Resort Monorail. Before arriving there you will stop at the Contemporary and Transportation & Ticket Center before arriving at the Polynesian.

The buses from the resorts drop off on the right side of MK (as you are looking at the front of the park. You would head toward the entrance, but walk past it, not going into the entrance. The monorail station is to the left of the MK.

If there is a boat for the Poly at the boat launch (which you'll walk past on your way to the monorail), you may take it too--it is a nice relaxing ride.
To walk to the contemporary, you'd walk toward the main sidewalk, but turn away from the MK. There is a sidewalk that runs almost underneath the monorail. It isn't a bad walk, although once you get on the contemporary property, you do kind of walk thru the parking lot for a little bit.

The parks are all considered 'hubs' for those wishing to go between resorts or other parks. Just take a bus, from POP, to MK. The early morning buses start running around 6:15-6:30. When you get to MK, take the monorail, or boat, over to the Polynesian. If you want to head to a park after breakfast, just hop on the appropriate bus at the Polynesian.
Because the parks act as 'hubs' you do not have to actually enter the park in order to make transfers. You will get off the bus, at MK, then walk towards the park entrance, with the boats on your left, straight ahead is the monorail and the park entrance to the right. It will be very clear once you get there.
Disney makes it very easy to get around.
