Monorail Rescue yesterday?

I read that the monorail got stuck near the contemporary and there were rescue vehicles removing people out of it. Did anyone experience this yesterday? What happens if there is a disabled person in the monorail, how does the rescuers get them out? I have said this many times on here before, I think it's ridiculous that these monorails can get stuck and they can't get them to start or move them and people have to be rescued off them. There has to be a better way for the monorails to run.

First Responders/Fire Department get disabled people out of the monorail the same way they get them them out of burning buildings and motor vehicle accidents. They are trained to deal with the situations and do so professionally. That is their their job. They have trained for it and are prepared for all situations.

I had a friend stuck on that monorail. They used a scissor lift to evacuate those in need of immediate evacuation. Not fun, but occasionally things break down.

Any vehicle can break down. It's unfortunate but not something that is 100% preventable.

It just seems likes the monorails have way too many mechanical issues. Time to get rid of them or fix them.

If you compared the workload of the monorail to that of your car in a scaled comparison, your car would break down more.

Yeah, but if your car breaks down, you don't need to be rescued by rescue personnel, high in the air.

I actually refuse to ride the monorail any more. We got stuck for about ten minutes at the highest point when you exit the contemporary. It may have not been stuck...maybe just waiting for traffic. It was dark outside as well.

I have very bad anxiety.. and getting trapped is very panic inducing for me.

It's the ferry from now on.

It's too the point that I don't ride any omni mover rides any longer. I spend the whole ride freaking out about getting stuck! I have no problem on open air ride. I don't want to get stuck on a roller coaster...but the panic will be a little less!

Me too, and I just read some people were stuck for 3 hours. I really like the monorails but don't ride them anymore either, I don't want to put myself in a situation where I would be stuck for up to 3 hours.

Yes...I would be in an absolute panic at 3 hrs. People without that type of anxiety might not get it...but I was hyperventilating those 10 min we were stuck.

I have 2 little ones so it would be extra hard and they would defiantly be aware of their moms panic.

Someone brought up a good point-go to the restroom BEFORE you get on the monorail, just in case something like this happens and you're stuck for a few hours!

It could happen on Peter Pan, or the TTA, or Dumbo, too. There's ALWAYS a chance that something mechanical at the park could break down and you could end up stuck for a short (or a long) time without being able to leave on your own.

I think some perspective is needed here.

Passengers in the Channel Tunnel between UK and France were stuck for hours due to power failure recently, will it be removed or closed, no. Were people upset, of course they were.

Anything mechanical in life has the potential to break down a make you stuck for hours. It's a risk, but not a risk that will get things closed or removed. As a passenger you are making a decision to use it.

If someone has is claustrophobic or similar, they should make an informed decision for another type of transport.

I've never been stuck on the monorail, but if I were, I think I would use that time to take a much needed nap! I don't usually slow down enough for naps so that would force me to stop for a little while!!

OP - if you are concerned or stressed about it breaking down and getting stuck then I would suggest not riding on it. Things like this happen all the time. Not long ago I got stuck on my elevator at work - was stuck there for over an hour while they tried to fix it (was in between floors). I sat on the floor of the elevator and took a nap. Those situations don't bother me - but if I were prone to anxiety I wouldn't even ride - I would take the stairs. It's just that simple.
