1) What are it's hours?

2) How many "lines" are there? (I saw someone mention the "Express" Monorail in another thread. I'd like to know what that means.)

3) If we want to take a ride on it on one of our non-park days, can we do that? If so, where is the best place to park, TTC??

4) Is there a map of where it goes?

One monorail loop goes from MK to Contemporary to TTC to Poly to GF to MK. The "Express" goes from MK to TTC. The Epcot monorail goes from TTC to Epcot to TTC. It's free to ride, you don't need to use a day of your park hopper. Yes, park at the TTC. I believe it runs from one hour prior to park opening to one hour past park closing.

1) the TTC monorail to Epcot runs from 7:30am until one and a half hours after "either" Magic Kingdom or Epcot closes (which ever closes later).

the Express monorail runs from 15 minutes prior to Magic Kingdom advertised park opening until one hour after Magic Kingdom park closing

the resort monorail runs from 7am every day until 2 hours after Magic Kingdom or Epcot closes (whichever closes latest)...it will not stop at MK until 7:30am

2) There are 3 Lines...

The TTC to Epcot line runs from The Transportation and Ticket Center to the front entrance of Epcot and back to the TTC.

The Express Beam runs from the Transportation and ticket center to the front entrance of Magic Kingdom and back to the TTC

The Resort Beam runs from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian, the Magic Kingom (provided it is open) and the Contemporary, then back to the TTC.

3) You can ride on it as much as you want. You can park at the TTC if you like and ride any of the lines (that's the easiest way) The longest route is to Epcot and back (also has some nice views) and you are NOT required to get off at any of the stops, you can ride around all day long.

4) I have never seen a map of it, but there might be one out there.

Remember that while the monorail is free, parking at the TTC is not unless you are staying at a WDW resort or have an AP (I think DVC gets free parking too).

Generally the monorail starts running an hour before park opening to an hour after park closing. I'm a little unsure on the hours on the MK Resort monorail. It may stay open later due to people going to the other resorts restaurants for dinner.

If you're not aware of it already, Disney also allows a limited number of people (four, I think) to ride in the front with the engineer (pilot?). Just ask one of the CMs on the platform when you get to the monorail station.

Be aware, though, if the platform is crowded, you might have to wait awhile to take advantage of the opportunity. We had to wait 2-3 trains before the kids could ride up front. The wait was only a few minutes, though, and the perspective was pretty cool.

I've read where the engineer sometimes gives out "junior pilot" certificates, or something like that. You may have to ask, though. Our kids didn't get them, but then, they didn't ask. Even without the certificates its a lot of fun.

We rode in front in Feb. The engineer gave us "co-pilot's licenses", about the size of a business card. If you can do this with some of your party, do it! It is a really neat ride, unlike one of the regular cars on the monorail.

Here is some pics of the pilots license you get if you ride up front

Thanks everyone.

MOQ3424, those links were so much fun to hear!

I'd still like to find a map of it, the search continues... :)

I've never seen a map of just the monorail. There is a map in the 2005 Unofficial Guide to WDW that includes the monorail route, and that's the only time I can recall seeing it. The thing is, it's not like it goes all over the place and would necessitate a map. It goes in a loop around the Seven Seas Lagoon, and it goes from the TTC to EPcot and back. The Seven Seas Lagoon loop is either Express meaning it only stops at the MK and TTC or it's the resort loop meaning it stops at MK, Contemporary, TTC, Poly, and Grand Flo. That's it. A circle and an out and back line.
