this may seem like a stupid question to you experts... but... I'd like to ride it maybe the day we get to DLR, but we are not planning to go into the parks that day.

do you need to have a park ticket to ride the monorail?
can you ride it as a loop without getting off until you reach back to where you originally got on?
How long does the loop take?
Any suggestions on how to get the front car?

You must have park admission to ride the Monorail and sometimes they do not allow riding in a loop, depends on many factors.

Sorry but this is not WDW, sigh.

You will have to get within the park with your pass in order to get on as all the train stops are inside the park or Disney property. It doesn't take very long to make the whole trip. I think it took us about 30 mins to get all the way around? (tho don't quote me on the time).

The ride is very fast. I would say 5 minutes... it stops at Downtown Disney and Tomorrow Land only. So far we have not been able to stay on for the 2 stops, they have had to get off and get on again.

It used to be not long ago that no ticket was required to ride the monorail in a loop. Tickets were checked only when exiting Tomorrowland and no check was made at the Disneyland Hotel (now Downtown Disney) station.

Large crowds I assume forced Disney to restrict it to park guests only.

It stops in DTD and in TL so not all stops are inside the parks. DCA does not have a stop at all at this time. You do need a ticket to ride as it does go into the park, a one way trip takes about 5-7 minutes. To ride in the nose or tail please ask the CM on duty at the stop, you may have to wait longer to ride in the front or back of the monorail.

Ha! I knew the monorail once went to the DH! I hadn't ridden it in many, many, many years and my DH and I wanted to check out the hotel so we hopped on the monorail....only to find that we never arrived at the hotel. I was so confused! My DH thought I was crazy, but I am not :rotfl:

The monorail stops are in the exact same location as they've always been. The track and stations have not been moved. However, Downtown Disney was built and the building between the DLH and the station that included the Monorail Cafe and some other shops is gone, replaced with other shops. It looks totally different but to visit the DLH you'd exit at the Downtown Disney stop.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Oh well, we'll have to save it for a park day.:thumbsup2
It is worth remembering that if you start your day at the monorail entrance by the Rainforest Cafe, a CM will scan your Disneyland ticket, and you can start your day on the Monorail--that's what we do a lot of times.

If the park opens at 9am...What time can I ride the monorail? What time do they start operating?

At 9am, park opening. Also usually it doesn't start right at 9, but a slight delay. Because of this it doesn't help you beat the masses into the park.

I havent been on the monorail since I was a little girl and I cant wait to take my family on it this summer!!! Thanks for all of this wonderful info!!

Monorail was down (unscheduled) the entire week we were there. :sad1: I kind of wanted one last trip over the Fauxden Gate Bridge.
