they have been posting closings on one beam or another for some time now. What are they doing and when will it be completed?

The above link has the times guidelines for the scheduled downtime. The system and trains them selves are undergoing many technical and physical updates. On an average evening when the trains stop running at 1 they don't actually get back to shop and shut down until as late as 3am. Then they start coming back out around 5 for the 6:30am resort opening. The maintenance shop and crews take any extra time they can fit into the schedule to work on the system. This is everything from cleaning of the trains, replacing tires, patching the beam, and replacing electrical buss bar.

The monorail is called: The Highway In The Sky", and just like all other highways, they are never really "completed" and there always is and always will be construction/maintenance being done. It's called "full employment for DOT workers".
