Hi guys! I don't know why I didn't think about this when the whole, "the monorail is no longer running for EMH," thread came up...for those of you that park at the TTC, what are your plans to get back to the TTC if the monorail is not running?

For DS4 (he has autism) the boat from MK to the TTC worked really well-it wasn't too crowded, we were outside, it's fun and it doesn't take too long. Now I'm worried b/c if they don't have monorails running for EMH or for special events like MNSSHP it sounds like the boats may be crowded...I just don't know if he could handle a really crowded bus or waiting a long time for a boat at the end of the park day.

I still can't believe Disney is doing this with the Monorail-it's crazy! This may really mess up how we tour MK and being able to take advantage of EMH, which is one of the reasons we stay onsite.

What do you guys think? Any advice on how to handle this? Thanks! :earsboy:

I would leave about an hour before EMH end that way you miss the crowds
would a 4 year old be up that late anyways?? I know my sons stay up late but we get up early. I know they don't need as much sleep as normal kids (I have 2 non-verbal austic myself - 14 & almost 16)

For special occasions, like WDW, he does-we all do-we are on vacation! I plan our time so we can stay out extra late a couple of nights-it adds to the magic for us and the boys look forward to being out late. This is one of the reasons why we like onsite b/c we go out early (or sleep in late), eat lunch, go back to the resort for our nap and then go back to the parks in the early evening to enjoy dinner and the rides in the dark. Also, on MNSSHP we close MK down-too much fun!

We may have to just leave early to make sure the transition is smooth-bummer.

They will be running buses from epcot to contepory and ttc and then a bus to poly and grandfloridain. I am sure their be a bus from mk serve contemporary poly and grand not sure if they will split it or have the bus do all three. So if your staying poly and you had chef mickeys their be a bus for you. I know the buses might be crowed but Disney works hard to get you to your hotel quickly and safely. Their will also be boats to the end of emh for mk their not taking something away and not replaceing it they are replacing it with buses. I am also sure they will come up with a way to at least run the resort monorail later. I hope you have fun and this won't ruin your whole trip and hope your son have a great time to.:thumbsup2

I guess it depends on what time of year you go. In the summer when EMH nights at MK last until 2-3 am not very many people stay to that time anyway, so I don't see that being a problem with crowds of people.

But on a night where MK would be open until 1am for EMH it might be a bit more crowded. You could always find a quiet spot to wait until the herds of people exit the park.

There will not be easy answers, here. You know this ahead of time. If you have your own car you can drive back and forth. Some people have rented a car for even just a couple of days to get around to some awkward places or situations. I know you're on site and you want to use Disney transportation, but sometimes you have to adjust how you do it.

As suggested previously you can change your times to make it a little bit better. I'm sorry, but I've done 30 years of trips to Disney World and believe me you don't have to close the park to enjoy it. One or two hours less is not going to destroy your vacation. We had to change our touring plans many times through the years depending on our situation at the time. I'm not sure how many are in your group, but you could also separate and someone goes back with your son early and everyone else can stay later until the park closes. If this can affect your son so negatively with the crowd factor, I would leave early to avoid any situations if you can't do anything else.

If you want to do the boat thing anyway and stay til the end you can do a few things to help with crowds. Try to surround him the best you can; so, his space is protected away from everyone else. Get something for him ( a toy or whatever) that will hopefully distract him long enough; so, you can get by. A treat might work, too. If you have him in a stroller then find something to kinda cover him up if he won't flare up if you do something like that for him; so, he won't see everyone. A small blanket or throw may shield him enough from the rest. Try to keep one corner a little up and talk with him; so, maybe, he won't notice he's covered so much. You can try the blanket thing before you take your trip and see how it works for you. If it's worse then you'll have to make choices.

You know-I really don't ask many questions-on purpose, b/c of rotten attitudes on the Disboards, I really thought the disabilities forum was different.

First of all, it's no one's business how long I keep my 4 year old son out at a park, secondly-I was asking about transport back to the TTC-we are bringing our own car-I really try to stay away from Disney transport as much as possible, especially the buses-which was the whole point of this thread, thirdly-I wasn't complaining about doing/not doing EMH, just that this is a supposed to be a perk for those staying on site and it would be nice to take advantage of it if we wanted to and that the monorail not running back and forth to the TTC for EMH and possibly special events like MNSSHP makes what was once a pretty easy transition into something that may possibly be a pain.

Did anyone actually read my question?

Sue M-Moderator-please close this thread-I am done asking questions on Disboards and quite frankly am done with Disboards altogether. Thank you.

Op i am very sorry if my post up set you I was just trying to give you options to get back to the ttc their will be a bus or water craft that will go to the ttc. Again sorry if it made you upset I do hope you have a great time in your trip.

Just to add their a rumor that they will have a monorail for the special event but have not made an it publis yet. Plus they will add extra boats if needed. You could take the resort boat to Poly then walk to the ttc from their it a smaller boat but all out side and it fun to ride in.
