Monorail noise in the Contemporary?

I was wondering if you can hear the monorail from the rooms in the Contemporary. I wouldn't mind it at all if it's so, I think it might even add to my excitement of staying there, but I'm just curious. Thanks in advance for any responses!

We were there on the 12th floor at the beginning of June and we never heard the monorail. I don't know if the sound is greater on the lower floors, but on the higher floors, it was nonexistant. Enjoy your stay!!!

We've been on both MK view and Bay Lake view many times...everything from 6th floor to 11th floor and never heard the monorail. Some folks complain about the early morning noise from Chef Mickey's but that has never been an issue for us either. For those that it is an issue they usually make sure to request a room on the opposite side of the CR from Chef Mickey's.

Stayed on the 11th floor last Aug. and never heard the monorail or Chef Mickeys. Once you step out if your room you can hear the noise coming from the lower levels but room seems to be soundproof!

I was on the 8th floor. I never heard the monorail, but "felt" it go through the building. It wasn't really too noticeable.

I was on the 6th floor and never heard it (floor right above the monorail, but we were on the opposite side of the building). Even in the hallways, it just sounds like a gust of wind. The monorails are not loud at all.

I was directly above the dining room at Chef Mickeys (Lake View). I didnt even hear the diners from inside my room, but I did hear the "Celebrate Mickey Mouse" song every 1/2 hour or so..got used to it and when I had our TV on, I barely heard it. My mother was on the same floor, same side, but all the way at the end of the corridor near BLT. She never heard a thing!

I've never heard the monorail while staying there. I think one of the proposed benefits of the uses of monorail technology is that it's nearly silent, since it's powered through the use of electric motors which are much more quiet than other types of powered locomotion.

I've heard a low murmur from CM, but nothing noticeable or that would have kept me up/woken me up. The rooms are well insulated, so it shouldn't be an issue.

It is really cool to watch the monorail go through the resort! Very magical!

Our first CR stay we were on the 6th floor with MK view by the walkway to the elevators. The monorail passed directly beneath our room. As another poster said you could feel it. It felt like a slight vibration. If the room was quiet I could hear a whoosh then, too. It never bothered me. It was more a happy thing or a comfort thing. I enjoyed it but I'm also one of those that enjoys a little faint white noise all night like the gently, barely audible hum of the ceiling fan. As for Chef Mickey's, we could hear it every now & then but when we did it was a time of day we were already moving anyway so it wasn't a bother.

On a MVMCP night during that trip a monorail broke down somewhere on the opposite side of Seven Seas Lagoon from us. The monorail tractor had to drive thru the Contemporary to go get it and then towed the broken down monorail thru the concourse on it's way to the shop. It was probably close to midnight when all this was going on. If you've ever been relatively near one of those tractors you know they are extremely loud. We weren't asleep or anything. We watched all the fun from our balcony then ran back thru the room to the concourse both times to watch the tractor go by. We took some pics & video, too. It was LOUD. If our boys had still been little guys I know without a doubt it would've woke them up.

A few years ago my family and I had a room on the 6th floor which was right above the Monorail station and not once did we ever hear any noise from the Monorail while we were in our room.

I'll agree with the others who say that the monorail just isn't very noisy. Try standing below a passing monorail sometime, it's pretty cool how quiet they are. :earsboy:

LOL I may be corny, but I was thinking how exciting it would be to be in bed at night and hear the monorail whooshing through, sort of like hearing the ocean on a cruise.

What time does the monorail stop running for the night?

Stayed in the tower 3 years ago on the 11th floor(I think) and couldn't hear the monorail, but in the morning you could really hear chef mickeys. We were right above it though, like clockwork every morning who's the leader of the club!!!:rolleyes1.It wasn't super early and we were about to get up anyhow, but if you are a late sleeper it may bother you.We were't complaining though we were upgraded to the club level and really had a super stay. However if you are paying the big bucks for club level it may bother some.
