Hi, I've been to Disney many times, but either with a car for transportation OR have not stayed at any resorts with Monorail access. Would very much like to "ride" around the resorts and/or parks and experience the Monorail on our next trip. Can someone explain the routes or highlights of what to do/see? (Oh yea, we'll be at POP-I know we'll have to bus it to a monorail!!). Also, any ideas or recommendations for a stop along the way for food/drinks? Thanks so much!!

Here is a map of the Monorail system. I’m not to sure how old it is but it will give you an idea of its route.

the monorail has 2 basic loops. To get from loop 1 to loop 2, you change trains at the transportation and ticket center station. Loop 1 takes you from the ttc to the polynesian, grand floridian, MK and the contemporary. Loop 2 takes you from the ttc to epcot.
That is all--short, sweet, but if you have never done it--JUST DO IT!:thumbsup2

As far as stopping for snacks, I suggest the poly because it has such beautiful landsacping throughout the lobby and their grounds. They have a nice coffee/cappuccino shop in the lobby on the upper level, you can make dining reservations at O'hana (character breakfast) or dinner--one of our favorites! This resort also has the Kona cafe....haven't been in years but the food is delish and I don't believe you need resies..

enjoy your monorail tour!

Just wanted to add in that since the whole loop only takes about 5-10 minutes....you don't really need to "stop for snacks" My suggestion is to ride it through to get the experience and then go back to one of the resorts for a snack if you really want one.
