So, I've been thinking about another trip after the kids get out of school next year. Not sure when that will be due to the hurricane. I want to stay at a monorail hotel, here is my thoughts...

Never stayed CR, love the new room look, don't like the tower $ w/ MK view.
Will I feel left out in a wing room, w/o springing for tower mk view? ;)

Stayed Poly in Nov 03 love it, but like to do different hotels.

Stayed GF garden view for honeymoon, liked Poly better, but could go back for sentimental reasons since it will be around our 17th anniversary. :cloud9:

What would you do?

thanks

I've never stayed at a wing room before, but I don't think you will be left out. I mean you basically stay in wings at the Poly and GF if you think about it.

I think by next summer, at least most of the rooms at the Polynesian should be the new rooms. Of course, anything can happen to change that. But if they go at the same speed they've been going, by next summer, I would think most, if not all, would be done.

I really don't like the look of the wings at the Contemporary. I do want to stay in the tower eventually, but the overall theme of that resort does not interest me. Great location though! And I do like the look of the new rooms, so even a new room in a wing might not be too bad.

I love the Polynesian, but I do like the Grand Floridian too :) Tough choice. I am as indecisive as you are ;) lol

But since you asked for opinions, I'd vote for the Polynesian :)

This is true and kind of in the back of my mind, but good to hear it confirmed from someone else.

I've kinda always felt the same way about CR, but I thought Poly looked awful from the monorail until I saw Tikiman's site, so I thought I would give it a shot by the look of the new rooms. GF was nice, but not the same feel as Poly. Thanks for the thoughts, I have alot to consider.

I have stayed at all three and like the poly the best of the monorail hotels. But if cost is a consideration, the standard garden wings at the contemporary are a relative bargain for a monorail hotel. The rooms are spacious. I stayed there this summer.

There are definately plusses and minuses: I didn't love the contemporary on the whole and found it somewhat disappointing but there are things about it that can't be beat: location, location location (nothing like walking to the MK and just walking home at night without worrying about the crowds), monorail convenience and being able to take the monorail to the other hotels and epcot, california grill, the many gift shops, the game room is the best of any hotel, the boat to WL and Fort wilderness. I had fun playing all the different skeeball games. We didn't rent a car and didn't need one (used wegoshop) so that's another savings.

If you stay in a wing, asking for a ground floor room will get you a patio, which I enjoyed. I also requested a room close to the main building. One issue we had was that housekeeping did not come until after 3 in the afternoon at least a few days. So we would go to the parks and come back in the afternoon to find a room still not made up and then have the housekeeper show up while we were back in the room. Also, the pool area, though more than adequate and probably if this was not a comparison to other disney hotels not bad at all, was simply not as nice and charming as other hotels. The grounds were also not as nice as the other disney hotels.

CR wing room would by my choice. I've never been a Poly fan. And GF, although lovely, is too costly, IMHO. The CR wing rooms are very spacious and removed from the hustle and bustle of the tower. The newly decorated rooms look lovely. And walkling "home" after a day at the MK is unbeatable!!

Thanks for your very informative info of CR, this gives me alot to consider.

I know, don't the new rooms look enticing, even to my DD12 who was never interested in CR!!!

My choice would be the Poly but I'm curious about the price structure at CR. How much less is a tower bay view room as opposed to a MK view? Same as wings or more? I would think the bay view would be kind of nice and quiet.

What would you do?
A) You dont' want Poly, you want to do different hotel.
B) CR to expensive to stay in the tower.
C) GF you could go back for sentimental reasons...

Your best answer: C

What would I do: I love the Polynesian. And that would be my choice!

Enjoy your stay at the GF!! Have a wonderful trip!

Can't remember what the quote was, but it was pretty big b/t the wing and tower MK view.

AAHH!!! All my fellow Poly lovers, making me feel like a trader. ;)

Thanks for the insight, this is a toughy.

CR wing room. We loved ours. Hated the decor, but loved the really big room, the queen beds, the big table for breakfast, the patio and the location.
