In all the times I've been to Disney World I have never been on the monorail. Seems like it might be fun! We're staying at Coronado w/o a car and we'd like to visit some of the MK resorts. Would it be worthwhile to take a bus to Epcot, pick up the monorail there to TTC, then hop on the resort monorail? I'm assuming we don't actually have to enter Epcot in order to pick the monorail up there?

Do it! Have fun!

You can catch the monorail at either the MK or Epcot without entering the park. The ride will be more pleasant if you avoid the park opening and park closing hours, otherwise you may have to get off and wait in line with everybody else instead of completing a round trip.

If you ride when it is not too busy go to the front turnstile and ask if you can ride in the front car with the operator. You may have to wait a train or two to get in but it is worth it. We did this twice with kids and they got a big kick out of it.

Riding the Monorail just for fun is something we like to do on our first night at WDW. My suggestion is to take the bus to MK (the walk to Monorail is shorter than from the busstop at Epcot) and get on the resort loop. When the monorail goes around and gets to the TTC, get off and get on the Epcot monorail where you can get off and get the bus, or ride it back to TTC, and go back to MK and get the bus there.

I agree, take the bus to TTC and catch the resort monorail. Get off at the first stop, check out the resort and either hop back on and get off the next resort. I think it's a short walk from the Contemporary back to the TTC? And definitely try for the first car-it's a hoot! Sometimes they let the kids "drive" and give them a certificate.
