Monorail Expansion?

Over the last year or so, there have been various rumors about future monorail expansion. I've been off the boards recently because no trip is in close sight (hoping next summer), so I'm just a little curious if any rumors bearing any weight about expanding the highway in the sky have come up recently. I've talked to many CM's who have told me that WDW transportation is lacking in many areas, and that the ultimate fix would be to expand the Mono. Unfortunately, it's just too costly. Will we see any more concrete tracks in the near future, or is Eisner too darn cheap to hoist em up?

I don't think it will happen soon. The rumor does resurface from time to time, but I haven't even heard it in a while. I'm not going to plan on that happening until I see new tracks being built.

WDW can't even afford to open Animal Kingdom earlier than 9am. I say money will be very tight for a long time to come.

Some have suggested a light rail system, but it would still be expensive if cheaper than an elevated monorail, and it would have to somehow interface with the monorail to be effective.

Does anyone have $200M (just a guess) they want to donate to build monorail extensions? Maybe one of you SuperLotto winners?

There were plans to expand the monorail at WDW a few years ago, it was approved all the way up the corprate latter until it reach Burbank CA, at Eisner office who decided against it.

The monorail system at WDW is awkward today. Imagining that it was extended from Epcot to South Disney (MGM or somewhere around there) you still have to transfer at TTC if you are going to or from MK. And it will be crowded when both day guests and resort guests cram aboard early morning and at park closing. So expanding the monorail is more than extending to AK, DD, or MGM. We need to reconfigure the existing tracks around MK.
