This may have been discussed here before...but is there anyone else that would absolutely LOVE to have a monorail located DVC resort?

One of our favorite places to stay had always been the Polynesian. With three young children to manage along with their gear and stroller, any bus trip, however short is such a drag...

Has there ever been any talk of a resort of this type?

I have heard rumor of Disney planning on expanding the monorail system. But to this point it has just been a rumor:(

This is one of the reasons we bought at VWL, even though its not on the monorail, there is always a boat that can get you to it, whether it be to the Contemporary, GF, POLY or MK, then just hop on the the Monorail. The kids loved doing this when we stayed at WL. You can also go to TTC and get to Epcot. I hate taking the busses, don't know why, but we have even walked from the MK to Contemporary and then taken the boat over to the Campground. It is probably because of the strollers on and off the buses.

the costs are ridiculous - they priced it around $100,000 a foot (I though an inch but was correctedly) and they need miles of it - and this is just the track - not the cars or the additional personality needed to run the things. So no new monrail - until the cost comes down alot.

I think (my opinion only) that the first DVC resort was to built close to the Polyn - but the Polyn fought it and won - why have an island with Volcanic Mountains as the symbol unless you were at the Hawaii Islands - Key West is not this type of island. So no I don't think that DVC will ever be close to the Polyn - but there is still the Contemporary - it has a bad reputation (like the DI) and right now it is staying filled with the Shades of Green at what $79 to $99 a night okay this is just in the wings - but where else would DVC get permission to built one. but as Judy K says there is no plans at present for a DVC on the monrail period.

Hey I still like the idea of a DVC along the Epcot monrail. Oh well we can dream -right!

Just curious - what kind of bad reputation does the Contemporary have??? We always enjoyed staying there, though it is very out dated and a little cheesy!! But the wing rooms are very large and there is alot to do there.

alot of people won't stay there - because of what you just say out of date and cheesy - they have remodeled it more than any other WDW resorts - but it still has the out of date reputation - you could generally get reservations there at the last minute - when the Polyn, WL, and GF were full. that is not a good sign for any resort.

I think a DVC resort would definitely help the Cont - there are so many DVC members that would stay there - that the reputation would improve. It would become a very popular place and that would help the hotel part.

One of the bus drivers I spoke to last week told me they wouldn't expand the monorail because of the problems they have when it gets struck by lightening. It becomes chaotic getting the people off the monorail and brining out buses to use instead.
